There is not an Avenger movie I’ve liked. Honestly I did not appreciate GotGv1 until I watched it a second time. I agree that many can use as much soul as they can find. What Marvel movies if any have you liked?

I wasn’t in love with either of the first two Avengers with the first being a hate for me. Infinity War though, was probably the best movie I have since getting MoviePass back in Oct of last year. The best two movies I have seen with it are Tomb Raider and Avengers. The worst was Red Sparrow. That might have been the worst movie I have seen in a really, really long time.

Saw Infinity War over the weekend with the family and some friends. Packed theater with lots of cheering and plenty of shushing when kids got a bit too loud/talkative. It was a predictable and fun ride. I really enjoyed Thor in the movie and was surprised by how much screen time he got. I'm not overly worried about the plot line and it's impact on the MCU at this point. Now, we'll see how it all wraps up in the second movie. That will give us a better understanding of the lasting effect on future characters and stories in the MCU.

Never into superhero movies. I think their is a severe lack of originality and depth. Anyone feel me or am I in the minority here?

Minority for sure lol. I get it though. It took me a very long time to get into the Marvel movies. Since I was a kid Batman was always my favorite, and the Dark Knight will probably stay my favorite movie of all time. But I do get not being into superhero movies.

The only one I have liked thus far was Captain America: Winter Soldier. The rest just get muddied in my head so I'm having a hard time pinning down what exactly went down in which movie.

Could be the fact that I never read the source material and comics, or graphic novels in general were never a really big part of the entertainment I've consumed.

I did like Nolan's Batman Trilogy, though. And Batman Returns. And Batman & Robin, but for completely different reasons.

Molly's Game and Fifty Shades Freed I bought and watched on iTunes on my Apple TV 4K.

Molly's Game was excellent, and 50 Shades Freed Unrated Version (which comes with the normal iTunes version) was actually pretty good. A little slow in some parts but worth it for sure!

:apple:

The last one i liked was Dark Knight. Lately(past 5 years or so), i've been avoiding them. I watched Wonder Woman begrudgingly, but only because i was stuck on a flight and the choices were limited. It was "ok". That being said, i'll happily watch any Chris Reeves Superman movies.

Sadly(yet predictably), new Star Wars movies are now a genre I will be avoiding as well.

Just "rewatched" The Ballad of Lefty Brown.

If you like westerns you'll like this one...

All three of these are quality films:

Doctor Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

Not only the possibly greatest title of all times but also always having a blast watching it. Makes me laugh out loud which I do rather seldom. :D

A superlative movie - and yes, a laugh out loud movie at times, too, with a brilliant cast and outstanding screenplay. Loved it.

Definately one of my favorites of Kubrick's immensely impressive output! Sellers is really on the top of his game, and the character (or rather characters) he plays is one for the ages.

The World Has Changed...
The hearts of men are easily corrupted.

The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)- the Shire, Hobbiton, Bag End all magical. Rivendell, even more so!

Maybe in a decade someone will see fit, to film a proper The Hobbit movie.

Rankin and Bass already did though... :(

This was pretty neat from Google today:

I believe there's a good to possibly great movie(s) buried in the ~8 hours of tonally inconsistent, added characters, changed plot points, etc. I don't know what the final edit would look like, it's likely it would still be two movies worth of content, but regardless of the packaging, it's less than what we got.

Saw Labyrinth at my local theater last night. I’d never seen it before. I could have done without the musical interludes but otherwise liked David Bowie’s performance. Loved the Escher set piece and was engrossed by the complicated “hands” puppetry in the pit

On tap this coming week: Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train (based on the Patricia Highsmith novel, if I remember correctly) I, Daniel Blake (Ken Loach’s recent and apparently politically prescient British drama), and Redford and Newman in The Sting.

Plan on catching Avengers with a good friend. Not my thing, but MoviePass makes it a free evening to enjoy good company.

I was thinking live action. I don’t know if I’ve seen this. You vouch for it’s worthiness? I may have to watch it. :)

It may have been 9+ hours and another 9 of bonus material. I saw the first two movies and as I recall what sent me over the edge, was the over the top escape in the barrels sequence. And this was after the Frodo fights the bad guys at the end of the first movie. Completely tone deaf to the original story.

Yeah I knew what you meant. I do like that film though.
