Awesome stuff.

One of my all time favorites, and a movie that really doesn't get old. In the same league as Commando, and Conan the Barbarian.

Speaking of Conan, and because someone posted it earlier in this thread, the DVD (and BD, I would assume) has one of the best commentary tracks I've listened to. It's just Milius and Schwarzenegger talking about stuff, sometimes even about the film itself, often about how big Arnie's biceps are, and it's just endlessly entertaining. You can tell it's been a while between shooting the film and the commentary, and especially Schwarzenegger seems, at times, to have some difficulties remembering exactly what's going on, but it's just fantastic. Mind you, it's been a while since I've listened to it, but sometimes it's nice to remember things not necessarily the way they are, but the way you happen to remember them. In any case, I need to revisit the commentary track ASAP.

Only one that's equally entertaining (that I've come across) would be Bruce Campbell's solo commentary track (there's also one with Raimi and Campbell, that's, while entertaining, not nearly as entertaining as Campbell's solo one) for the original The Evil Dead.

Watched "Pacific Rim: Uprising" over the weekend. Not as strong a film as the first, but it was OK. We enjoyed it.

Finally got around to watching Oblivion (2013) again over the weekend, this time in 4K HDR after tweaking the settings on my Sony XBR65X850C and Apple TV 4K. Stunning. I'd highly recommend listening to even just the soundtrack, which easily stands on its own.

I'll have to check out the commentary track on Conan. I have watched 'The Making of Conan' a couple of times which is great too.

It's a *terrific* sci-fi film that I think got missed by quite a few people (I mean, it did ~$286M WWBO, but still ...), very highly recommended, I bet it was incredible on your setup - funny, I've got a bunch of movies I've got queued up for a rewatch when we go 4K, mostly sci-fi type films, I'll have to add Oblivion!

Watched these two movies this weekend.

Jack Reacher
and
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

They were not bad, not great, but they were a fun little ride.

We enjoyed it. Nothing special about it. The only part that bugged us, was the main baddy character. He was a little much for us. But the big robot vs robot vs monster fights were pretty good!

Ready Player One - this movie was OK. the idea is creative but the story line is alittle chaotic and the movie is all over the place. i did like all the cameos that referenced the 80's and gaming world. you gotta have a good eye thou cause the cameos pass rather quickly. just to name a few, i saw: borderlands, batman, catwoman, ryu, goro, overwatch, moral combat, prince, thunder cats, TMNT. the cameos that got the most coverage was: iron giant, mechaGodzilla and The shining

Exactly my thoughts. The movie didn't fare well on Rotten Tomatoes (for example), but it's still one of my favorite sci-fi films of all time. Definitely let me know what you think when you see it in 4K!

Just finished Kingsman: The Golden Circle. I found it on iTunes for 0.99€, and thought the first one was entertaining enough so yesterday evening I decided to rent the sequel.

Didn't really care for it, to be honest. There were some good things, that one wonderful cameo easily being the best part of the film, but all in all it just wasn't as entertaining as the first one. The length might have something to do with it (then again, this was only 10 minutes longer than the first one..), and I admit watching it in two parts probably didn't help. Then again, me falling asleep about halfway through could also be seen as an indication of how interested I was.

But yeah, worth the price of the rental, but nothing that special.

Mission Impossible Fallout. I actually enjoyed this action movie, one of the best of the franchise. Obviously there is little regard for the laws of physics or for basic human anatomy (not a single broken bone, all teeth still in their place etc), however the plot was engaging enough, the characters were quirky enough, and the humor was quite good.

Used AMC A-List to watch it.

The Shining’s cameo was incredible. Total nerdgasm.

you gonna freak out but i have never seen the shining

Funny enough, Cruise actually broke his ankle shooting a scene (the rooftop jump), and they used the footage in the movie. :D

Yeah :) I read they actually used the footage in the trailers but not in the movie.

You need to stay off the internet until this gets resolved ...

Agreed. There should be an admission test to gain access to the internet, and all of Kubrick’s movies should be part of the test. :)

Saw this also over the past weekend. Yup all over the place but it was enjoyable. Don't forget Chucky, He-Man, Robocop, Freddy Kreuger, Halo players, Starcraft, that is all I can remember right now. We found ourselves looking for the cameo's more than really paying attention to the movie in some spots! haha.

There were a ton of car cameo's. Batmobile, Back to the Future, A-Team Van, Akira's bike!
