BlacKKKlansman. Definitely a very well made movie, much smarter than I expected. Watch it!
I don’t have any complaint except for a very brief scene (about three to five seconds) which I think will cause for a the narrowing of the issues discussed to current political events. I do understand why the director decided to put it there - after all this movie is very political in nature - but I think that it did a disservice to the movie itself.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

This is streaming now as a Netflix original based on the 2008 novel of the same name. It's getting a B or B+ from critics I guess, some suggesting it's more escapist romance than dark drama and could have been developed with more attention to the darker issues of the German occupation of the Isle of Guernsey during WWII... but it's August and so I'll settle for the escapism, being somewhat startled to realize the other day that it's already time to make my contract for next season's winter heating fuel, ugh! Some cast members from Downton Abbey and The Crown are in this film, the costumes are very fine, the story and rest of the cast are quite appealing too. Easy B+ from me.

2:22 - decent cast, reasonable plot. Meh.

Game Over, Man! So, sure, I'm the target audience, but although I laughed a lot, I can't recommend this at all.

Wowsers, i have not seen a 2018 movie in 2018, not even: Solo, a ham movie!
last recent movie i sawed was a Japanese movie about a girl who can only date for a week,
the chemistry between the acting crew was incredible!

I don't mean to be rude, but what where you expecting? The only thing I got from the trailer was what on earth was JS thinking getting involved in such a B movie!

I was expecting to be emotionally moved with a powerful movie about love and loss. /s ;)

I was disappointed because there wasn't enough "cheese".

Depends on who the critics were who pegged it that way. Some film critics don't seem to like any movies!
So true! Why become a film critic if you hate films?

nothing wrong with b-movies, i like b-movies
C and d movies not so much! :D

OMG yes, he's usually involved in modern film masterpieces like the Fast and Furious movies, Crank, The Transporter ...

(hehehe ... :D)
What you saying? :p

i dont believe in "movie critics" or movie reviews..... movie taste is subjective

I read them sometimes, ready to pull out my contrarian attitude and go see the damn thing as soon as I run into certain buzzwords suggesting I could just as well skip it. :p

I'm woefully behind the eight ball on movies, having not seen many even from the 1970s forward, so it's not really very hard for me to find movies I haven't seen that most critics and fans alike do think are very much worth the watch

Still that doesn't keep me from wandering off to admire something or other that few thought entertaining. I don't mind movies that "go nowhere" as long as the cinematography and costumes are great, for instance. Almost watching paint dry? I might go for it.

Then again I have a liking for certain oddball kinds of films, like "The Parking Lot Movie" (2010) which I re-watch at least once a year. That doesn't go anywhere either but it's a hell of a ride. In passing I'll note that the film was set in Charlottesville, VA, seven years before the city hit the news for politically controversial reasons. The trailer, while entertaining enough, opens with a tiny bit of possibly NSFW language. Watch it anyway lol.

For some reason the guys in the movie remind of people I know from Cornell, at least 500 miles north of the film's location. Maybe grad students and others who briefly or long term park cars are somehow wired up for the job in the same way. It certainly seems like a job could make you go nuts without a sense of humor:

I'm like this is what's wrong with the world, man,
ya got a sports car with an automatic transmission.

I somewhat disagree, if sceptical, information can be gleamed from reviews. I admit trailers are hard core sales jobs that frequently misdirect and/or show way too much of the plot, in essence ruining it. :D

Watch it if you have some spare time to kill and are a Reeves fan. If you want to see the character done well, with good writing and acting then you should watch the TV series "Constantine". Much truer to the extremely well written comics. Don't know if the streaming services have it, but you can watch it on the CW Seed free. It's much better than the movie was.
