The Abyss (1989)

Gread movie, not for the faint of heart. On the same note, I highly recommend The Wicker Man (the original one, not the one with Nicholas Cage)
Watched The Wicker Man(1973) for the first time a couple of months ago. It reminded me of Rosemary's Baby(1968). Both movies are excellent. I really like the "lovecraftian" horror angle.

I have to say, Ari Aster is probably my favorite new/recent film makers (Hereditary(2018), Midsommar(2019)).

Sicario [2015]

Such a savage movie in so many ways. I’ve watched this film at least eight times, and it still shakes me every time given some of the events are factual in terms of Juarez and the Cartel. But more to the point, the plot, directing and acting is perfect in every way possible in this movie (The overhead shots of Juarez is mind blowing to see how dense Mexico is.) I could literally write three pages on this entire film, but I won’t do that for the sake of trying to be succinct.

Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin have so much mixed match chemistry, but it works. (Jon Bernthal has a small role to.)

Dennis Villenueve as a director is truly what made this movie so well-rounded, he didn’t direct ‘Sicario 2’, which was a decent follow up, but doesn’t even touch the first one.

This movie hooked me on Tom Hardy. He has to find a serial killer during the Soviet era when serial killers didn't exist in the Soviet Union, only in the west. Is his wife is an informent? The tension is excruciatingly high all the way to the very end. This is a movie which makes you work. A tick of an eyebrow, the flicker of the eyes are all that tell you what the character is actually thinking since they dare not say what they really think.

And there is his TV series. Not as cerebral, but entertaining as he handles simultaneous threats from the competing East Indian Company and the Crown which both want what he has, while at the same time he is fighting his own internal demons.

Right on! “Savage” perfectly describes the film. That one scene.... a masterclass in tension.

Just when you think you have seen it all and couldn't be more surprised...

Boom! They unearth some never-before-seen footage, especially on the 40th anniversary of the movie. Guess what I'm watching tonight!!

Far from disturbing. I seen a lot worst movie wise.
There are movies with more violence, but this one had some pretty brutal scenes. The ease with which the brutality was inflicted made it all the more disturbing. Couple that with the reason the violence was inflicted (the ending) and you have a very disturbing movie.

Zootopia(2016)
My expectations were sortof low, but it was better than i had expected. Funny and heartwarming. A couple of strange casting choices and the soundtrack was kindof weak for a Disney movie. Character design and animation were great, and a good movie for all age groups!
