Zootopia(2016)
My expectations were sortof low, but it was better than i had expected. Funny and heartwarming. A couple of strange casting choices and the soundtrack was kindof weak for a Disney movie. Character design and animation were great, and a good movie for all age groups!

Agreed, I really like Zootopia.

Strap in, it’s 3.5 hours long. But when you factor in De Niro, Pacino and Pesci, the narrative of obviously will speak for itself. I liked parts of it, but it isn’t up there with some of the other films between Pesci/De Niro detected by Scorsese.

I think the most unique thing about this film isn’t exactly just the ‘narrative’, it’s the last time we will probably see three these legends on the same stage collectively.

I enjoyed this one was well.

For me it cleared up two lifelong mysteries:

1.Who killed JFK? The Mob. I was in denial for a long time about this but not anymore.

2. What happened to Hoffa.

I did get a kick out of this photo:

I thought the CGI they used to make them look like younger versions of themselves was awful.

IMHO they should have used younger look alike actors. I know it'd be hard to find exact look alikes but still...

Absolutely agree. And I literally was thinking the same thing when I was watching the first hour tonight, that it made De Niro look like a porcelain doll with the CGI. They’re better off just using more aesthetic make up then the digital altering. It just doesn’t work.

I loved this flick and have watched it twice so far. I was in it for Pesci, and secondarily, De Niro. Pacino though in recent years seems to be playing a cariacature of himself and I can hardly stand to watch him in anything. It somehow worked though for him to play Hoffa.

OK, this is cute:

Today is the 30th anniversary of "Kindergarten Cop", a rather enjoyable Arnie flick:

Have to try and re-watch what should be a classic.

The Only thing I like about Pacino, was ‘early day’ films. Just last week I was watching a movie called ‘Simone’ with Pacino from 2002, not also was the movie itself terrible, but Pacino’s acting was absolutely atrocious. I actually turned it off about an hour through it. I guess my point is, as much as I think he’s a ‘legend’ in mob style movies, you just can’t throw someone like him in any film and expect it be good because, well he’s ‘Al Pacino’. You know what I mean?

In terms of the De Niro, Pesci and Pacino, Pacino would be at the bottom of that list for me, for a multitude of reasons.

There are 3 movies for Pacino, De Niro, and Pesci that are quite good, with excellent performances by each of them, and definitely "everyday" films:

1. Al Pacino in "The Insider":

2. Robert De Niro in "Awakenings":

3. Joe Pesci in "JFK":

All 3 of those movies are based on true stories and actual events, with (of course) "JFK" being the most controversial.

Overboard [1987]

Well, it was either this movie or ‘A very cookie-cutter Christmas’ on the Hallmark channel, I opted for Overboard.😁

Just a hilarious 80s comedy. Probably my second favorite 80s comedy on par with ‘Sixteen candles’.

If you haven’t seen it, watch it. It’s comedy in a way that isn’t really a love story, it’s more of a love-hate relationship when you see the true side of a man.

I’ve said it umpteen times, you just don’t see comedies like this anymore. And it’s unfortunate, because the writers actually had decent material back then compared to what they do today.

So the plot is real simple, a very wealthy female falls overboard, loses her recollection of who she is and where she is, until she’s claimed by Kurt Russell‘s character, and she lives in a totally different lifestyle that’s nothing what it used to be.

[Oh, and don’t bother with the reboot 2018 version of ‘Overboard’ , it should’ve never been made in the first place.]

Enjoy!

Both good movies, especially for the 80s, but not in my ‘top 3’ 80s movies. It’s Interesting, because Anthony Michael Hall and Molly Ringwald are both in Sixteen candles (As they are in Breakfast Club), which Sixteen candles is my favorite 80s comedy movie.

So far a pretty decent film.

I don't want to give too much away but, sci-fi, apocalyptic, dialysis equipment, astronauts, meteor strike, etc etc

Wait, dialysis equipment? That's the first time I've seen that as a movie plot descriptor. Might need to watch to find out now. Well, and OK ... George Clooney too.
