Road to Perdition [2002]

I like Tom Hanks in some movies and other movies I don’t, but this is probably his best performance I think in his career. The whole movie is very well written and does an excellent job a showing a man coupled with his son on a trail of vengeance over betrayal.

This movie captured the same vibe for me as it did with ‘Public Enemies’ directed by Michael Mann, [with Sam Mendes behind the film making for Road to Perdition.]

The only criticism I have for this movie is I would’ve loved to seen more of Jude Law and Daniel Craig, both are very good actors and had excellent supporting roles in this movie.

Watching The Devil's Advocate (1997), directed by Taylor Hackford, on the TV.

It's been a while, but I still like this one quite a bit. Possibly a bit of nostalgia sprinkled in there, but the movie still works. Al Pacino is himself in his usual wonderfully over the top way, and Keanu Reeves is not quite as wooden as he could be. And that's a compliment, he does good work with the role he has in this one. The last sequence with both Pacino and Reeves in Milton's penthouse, the scene I'm currently watching, is still great, some really good lines written for both Pacino and Reeves. And that sculpture just works.
That scene in the department store 😱. I watched it a couple of months ago(second viewing), and it never occurred to me that Furiosa was in it!

Great Movie - definitely one Tom Hanks best!

Well, I just watched The man who knew nothing, a 1997 comedy starring the great Bill Murray, and it feels like a comedy from the 60s, and I don't know why.

I don't know the director of the film, but to be honest, I enjoyed it a lot thanks to Murray.
This could well be a movie written and directed by Hitchcock.

Rocky - The great classic. I can watch this tale of the underdog over and over. 10/10

Rocky II - A direct continuation of Rocky, and a classic tale of a man trying to face his newfound success. 9/10

Rocky III - I am ambivalent about this one. The basic idea is great, success can become too much and actually make us weaker. It's not a great movie, but it's definitely a good one. 7/10

Rocky IV - I must break you. Nothing else to say. 7/10 (of note, I watched this 100 times and for the first time I noticed that when Rocky's team lands in the Soviet Union, Paulie is wearing a Don't Tread on Me jacket).

(Rocky V doesn't exist in my universe)

Rocky Balboa - Simply a great movie, a great throwback to the original Rocky, with good drama, good acting all over, and an interesting plot. 8.5/10

Creed - Time for Rocky to coach... this is what Rocky V should've been. A very entertaining movie, and a great Michael B Jordan. 7.5/10

Creed II - A throwback, and a step forward. It's time for Creed jr to face Rocky IV's Drago Jr. 7/10.

I concur with your ratings as far as these are concerned (I haven't seen the newer ones. Yet.). That being said in my book Rocky III earns a special rating just for the fact of including both Hulk Hogan and Mr. T. Not a great offering cinematically, perhaps, but an entertaining movie none the less.

Just finished watching Predator (1987) on the TV. A perfect example of a movie they tried to make, there's not much more that needs to be said about this one. Other than I'd really like to see a full lenght musical some day.

Not seen this in 35 years. It’s surprising how much I remember.

Also I think it’s funny to look at the original movie poster and think how out of touch with modern times it is. Much like the film.
35 years? Wow. That must have been fun. I think I watched it 12 or so years ago, with my kids. Kinda like, “hey this is a good movie from my childhood.” They didn’t like it.
Connery is my favorite Bond, but Craig really is a different interpretation, so I appreciate those films too. Well, maybe not all of them, ahem...Quatum Of Solace..cough cough.

Oh yes, both Rocky IV and Predator can be considered great 1980's flicks! And I do agree, Mr. T and Hulk Hogan in the same movie is quite a feat, plus don't forget: Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger".

I love a good indie horror film, the acting tends to be deeper, because smaller picture directors don’t have the necessary monetary budget to support CGI, major actor budgets, ect.

And that’s exactly what this movie is, a small budget horror film. It’s actually very much similar to ‘Species’ if you’ve ever seen that sci-fi film back from the 90s, and that’s kind of how this film falls in line. It’s about mother and daughter who are visiting a man who is soon to be married to the mother, and the film shows you that everything is not what it seems externally about someone, but with a heavy emphasis of sci-fi-ish vibe.

The film it self is creepy, which is what I really like, is it takes a totally different twist on making the viewer uncomfortable in certain scenes, and you’ll see what I’m referring to once you watch the film. But all together, it’s a decent plot, that will keep you hooked to see where the film leads.

Going to check this one out.

I want to say Predator is Arnold’s first AAA movie, where he comes across as a real actor?
