Just watched I Care A Lot on Netflix U.S. It’s pretty good but although it’s genre is “dark comedy” it’s more just dark. Feels like an indy movie with well known actors. Rosamund Pike, Peter Dinklage and Dianne Wiest are the stand outs but Chris Messina and Isaiah Whitlock show up as well. It revolves around a business woman who profits from getting vulnerable elderly patients certified by a court order to be in need of guardianship, whereupon she steps in and gains control of their assets while “caring” for them. It’s gross and and sad and infuriating but she is a shark and has no remorse. Ultimately she reaches too far and the roller coaster ride begins. I’d say the trailer gives a pretty good feel for the movie, but this movie seems to be eliciting some strong reactions. I liked it but feel kinda worked over by it.
Haven't finished but want both of them to burn in hell.....

If you’re not sure about finishing it, you’re not alone. It’s polarizing. It takes some turns I wasn’t expecting and didn’t want to see but ultimately it does come to an end. Not the ending I wanted but it’ll have to do. It’s like a Lemony Snicket story for adults. DARK. SO DARK. Puppies are a good antidote for this movie, I would imagine.

The Butterfly Effect [2004]

Some movies really show their age when you look at how they’re scripted, but this movie still seems like it was yesterday that was made and is one of the few movies other than ‘Inception’ [Directed by Christopher Nolan], that warps your mind seeing so many angles of how this would play out based on decisions.

As an actor with Ashton Kutcher, he’s definitely hit & miss but he did really good in this movie, and Amy smart was really transformative with her character.

This is one of those movies that puts you in a position that if you could make changes in your life and go back in time, how would you do it? What would you do? And how would that alter your future? It’s definitely a movie that makes you think beyond the scope of ‘this is just a movie’, but what if it was real life.

This movie was filmed almost 20 years ago, but yet; has such an impact after watching it multiple times over the course since it was made.

If it starred anyone other than Kutcher I'd give it a go...

Film critiquing should be based on the plot and acting, both of which actually mesh together here from my standpoint. However, Being one of his earlier films, he [Kutcher] takes a serious role and portrays the emphasis of drama quite well. Where I actually think Kutcher is at his worst is comedy films that are over saturated with poorly written scripts with copious amounts of exaggerated satire (See ‘What happens in Vegas’).

Butterfly Effect scored decent in some aspects, and that was mainly due to Kutcher, but Amy Smart was equally impressive in portraying a female that shows multiple phases of life.

I feel the same way about Tom Cruise, but Ashton doesn’t come across the same way he does in most roles. Maybe give it a shot if you think you can stomach him LOL

Watch Mulholland Drive. If you like mind-bending movies, you'll probably like it.

+1 on The Butterfly Effect

An excellent movie - - very well written, with a role that Ashton Kutcher is perfect for.

I know exactly what I’d go back and change. Whatever the butterfly effect would be, it’s got to be an improvement.

The War With Grandpa (2020)- Besides the fun of seeing Robert Dinero, Christopher Walken, Cheech Marin, and Jane Seymore, playing old geezer, regular people, not much to see here.

Why I haven’t watched this yet? (That’s just a rhetorical question for me.) I’ve heard of it, but somehow I’ve actually never even come across watching it. I’ll definitely tune in to this one. Thanks.

Inland Empire (2006) by David Lynch.

I think I finally understand most of it, it’s definitely a masterpiece but not a movie I’d recommend to the occasional viewer. It’s the fifth time I watch it - I think - and since I now get all the pain and suffering described in it, at the end I had watery eyes. Not an easy movie to watch.
