Excellent Movie. I have seen it many times and watched it today.

Saint Maud (2019), dir: Rose Glass, starring Morfydd Clark and Jennifer Ehle among others

Been reading about this for a while now, and it was on iTunes so I rented it. What a nice surprise. A slow burn story about a nurse, Maud, who takes a job caring for a terminal woman living in the English seaside. At the same time an intriguing portrayal of religious zealotry and mental illness, and however much they may overlap.

A really nice little arthouse horror film, refreshingly with an almost entirely female principal cast. And one credited cockroach, "Nancy". The atmosphere throughout is pretty heavy, and the final twenty minutes are quite the ride ending in the perfect last image before the credits roll.

Currently watching Roland Emmerich's Independence Day. Seen it a hundred times, so nothing new there.

What I did discover just now for the first time while browsing IMDb is an anecdote that still has me giggling. One day during filming Robert Loggia, who plays a general in this film, for some reason was very angry and refused to exit his trailer. It just so happened that a few days earlier a producer had suggested a film for Loggia to watch to get into the headspace to film his part, only the producer meant to recommend the Burt Lancaster and Dean Martin action drama Airport, but accidentally recommended the film Airplane! instead, which Loggia, having never seen either, promptly rented and watched. The reason Loggia wasn't willing to exit his trailer was he thought he was unwittingly filming a spoof and wasn't all too happy about it.

Independence Day is still a good watch.

I love ID4! It’s a self aware sci-fi action movie, with lots of entertaining scenes.

Love Independence Day! One of my all time favorites. I've also seen it dozens of times, and it never gets old.

Bought the documentary "Memory: The origins of Alien (2019)

Great documentary, watched it yesterday evening. If you already have the Alien Anthology box-set it's not that much of new info. Some, but some of it is already covered within the Anthology-box extras.
Decent watch for fans of the film. Been revisiting all the Alien films recently as currently playing Alien Isolation (well recommended). The first 1979 film always the standout as this is ALIEN, I also vey much enjoy Alien 3 (Assembly Cut, FOX should have had far more faith in Fincher) and of course Aliens. Resurrection is kind of goofy, Prometheus right idea although somewhat flawed in execution. As for Alien Covenant the more I watch, the more I think it should never have been made...

A slow burn that resonates, especially being based on real life events. I really enjoy this film on a slow, lazy Sunday afternoon. Just like a good wine, savour & take your time. I've never as yet been fortunate enough to visit the Amazon, however I've worked in Papua New Guinea which remains to be a very deep experience on many levels.

I have a very difficult time taking Anna Kendrick as a serious actor, but she did well enough in this flick.

Check out Up in the Air if you haven't, she does a great job in that one. I need to watch Stowaway, people either seem to like it or hate it, so I'm intrigued.

Watched the Oscar nominee, and winner Sound of Metal (2019) last night, a story about a drummer who in the middle of a set starts to lose most of his hearing.

Having played various instruments myself, often at louder than necessary volumes this movie hit pretty hard. It reminded me a bit of Aronofsky's The Wrestler, in that both deal with people who for one reason or another need to seriously consider letting go of their one passion in life, and how that affects not only their lives but also the lives of those around them.

Riz Ahmed was really good as the drummer, Ruben, and since the category of Sound Editing was scrubbed from the Oscars this year, it's only reasonable that the film won both the categories of Sound and Editing. Having not seen the other nominees I can't really say if Ahmed was snubbed the award for best actor, but he does deliver a great performance here.

Just attempted to watch this on Sunday night. I turned it off. It was so anti-climatic and boring, it just didn’t work for me. I’m not saying it’s not a good film, it just was one that couldn’t keep its paces with some bad script writing. I do enjoy movies about deep space (‘The Martian, Alien:Covenant, Sunshine, Interstellar, Life, ect.)
