But it does very little to fight his typecasting. I'd assume that he's getting tired of being the dad to save daughters and others. It is a good movie, paced well, and has a great cast, but a too familiar plot perhaps.
I don't know, if I was an old man I'd love to get paid millions of dollars to play the same character in every movie.

Just started watching the 2017 black comedy Ingrid Goes West, starring Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen, about a mentally unstable woman and her obsession over her Instagram idol.

She'll follow you. That is funny. I heard someone ewas pissed I didn't follow them on Facebook, back when I was on that hotmess. Why would I just follow everyone? So many people I did follow who HAD TO HAVE ME FOLLOW THEM did nothing for me. Why follow useless people?

But I did have the idea for a person that stalked and killed people on Facebook. It really could be happening right now. Social media has way to much potential for great evil... This could be prescient...

Oh, and being paid millions for the same basic character? I guess... I kept telling people I show up at work because they keep paying me. I said that about one of my clients who kept teasing me that I kept showing up to fix their IT problems. I heard that if they tease you, they like you, and some of my clients needed to like me a little less... :D:D:D:cool:

And he is old, ready to retire, I’ll tak the money! :)

Aubrey Plaza was kind of a amazing in Legion (2017-2019). One of those actors where the screen lights up when she appears.

Watched this, interesting story, but it is spoiled a bit by literally every other word spoken by his ex wife in the film being the F word, oh and his 16 year old daughter too, a promising if confused film with needless swearing that makes for a boring script.

I also watched this last night to remind me what decent films are like:

Watched "The Policeman" on Amazon Prime last night. I will admit that I had to use the 10 second fast forward a few times, but it did speak to how hard it was for gay men living in the 50's especially in England and what they had to do.

The Grey Man (2022 Netflix)- Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Billy Bob, described as “an unapologetic action film”, and holy crap is there action! Some won’t like it and based on my preferences there can be a thing as too much action. The C-130 sequence was the best. Refreshing to see Cris Evan as someone other than Mr. Clean. :D

I saw Barbarian. Amazing first half, creepy and interesting. Second half was like a different movie, but I was satisfied in the end.

I just spent a few days searching the web for movie adaptations of classic novels like heart of darkness, Fahrenheit 451, etc…stories I read in high school but can’t remember well and don’t have time to read again (Crime and Punishment)!

I thought it was pretty weak as films go...

I have never seen it. Some friends said I 'missed a great movie', and others say 'PFFFFFFFFFT!! *GAG*'. But I did not like 'Ordinary people', and wish I could apply for special dispensation to get that time back on my death bed. Yikes... Oh, and 'Heaven's Gate'. YUCK!!

But no idea how good/bad this one is. Never got around to see it, and I think I have to pay to watch it on Amazone Prime.

If you like Wes Anderson films you'd probably love this one.

No offense intended, but TRT did nothing for me, same for Heaven’s Gate, same for that one about a Best Exotic hotel in India, same for French Dispatch. 🤢😬😁

A Christmas Carroll (1938)- Reginald Owen, my favorite Scrooge. :)

For me it is "Scrooged" with Bill Murray. Classic. :)

Have you had a chance to check out the new version of a Christmas Carol with Guy Pearce? It is pretty good and takes on a darker tone.

Also, if you haven't seen it yet, I recommend "The Man Who Invented Christmas". Great movie and along with Scrooged, one what me and the wife watch every year around Christmas.

Wasn't bad... wasn't great either. But it was watchable and enjoyable. Basically a check your brain at the door and sit down and enjoy the ride type movie! Chris Evans character is something else in this.

We just finished watching "The True Life of Henrietta Lacks'

51t8jkeallL._SX282_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

It only has part of the story in the book, but is well worth watching.
Sadly it doesn't have the most powerful quote from the book

“But I always have thought it was strange, if our mother cells done so much for medicine, how come her family can’t afford to see no doctors? Don’t make no sense. People got rich off my mother without us even knowin about them takin her cells, now we don’t get a dime.”

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

All wheels...

The Duel (1971)
1668108496896.png
A business commuter is pursued by the malevolent driver of a massive tractor-trailer for apparently no reason. Relentlessly chased & terrorised, pushed to the very edge. An evil presence or just a madman on the loose?

The Car (1977)
1668108653362.png
A seemingly possessed & powerful car terrorises a small desert town. Ever more are picked off one by one by the entity. Local sheriff steps up to the plate being the last stand to stop this evil taking more.

Christine (1983)
1668108757783.png
Of course, John Carpenter's classic. A frequently bullied introvert buys a broken-down wreak of a car, which has an evil mind of its own from its inception. Slowly his nature changes, his confidence grows, he gets the girl as he reflects Christiene's power, however. After all who can resist the lady in Red ;)

All in camera, all practical effects, all great in the day and still stand up well :)

For myself in many/most occasions the movie is so good I want to see it again, I might even buy it, otherwise it is usually forgettable.
