I'm not a Tom Cruise fan. He's at least tolerable since shutting up about Scientology but his movies are pretty much cuts and pastes from things that have already been done. The Mission Impossible series are the worst. Just one example is I still remember the first time an impersonation mask was used in a film (maybe it was in the original series?) It was novel then. After being repeated multiple times in the the Cruise MI films it just gets expected and old.

This movie is sorta the same thing, built from the same standard libraries. Exotic/beautiful locations - check. Hot motorcycle - check. Hot car (only one I think, but lots of planes instead) - check. Hot chick - check. Bar scene - check. Stereotyped masculinity - check. Saved from dying at the last second (multiple times) - check.

But to my surprise I was drawn in. Even though the objects are the same he did a really good job of using them. Plot was a bit more complex than usual with characters not so shallow. He seemed to be doing more than the usual macho character, showing some emotion. I've always felt that he came off as an arrogant p.... in his films who I would have no interest in knowing. He was actually a sympathetic character here, showing some vulnerability. He may actually turning into a real actor.

I really like TC, stupid religion aside, and can watch most of his films without any hesitation or preconceived notions*...

That said the MI films do not interest me in the least.

The lamborghini movie

0/10 and that's being generous
What didn't you like about it? I love the real life story of the origins of Automobili Lamborghini.

Just finished The Noel Diary. The premise is a bit generic, very Lifetime movie-esque. But of interest, the main character wears an Omega Speedmaster Mark II that was gifted to him by his estranged father.

Well it started with ferrucio designing the Miura on the back of a napkin and went down rapidly after that ( was actually designed by Marcello Gandini - who also designed the Countach and Diablo )

Arguably the most inept inaccurate bio pic I’ve ever seen , tbh an insult to a great man and a great marque

That review says it all , on rotten tomatoes they really let rip 😆

The Menu: Excellent film that I really enjoyed. Ralph Fiennes as well as the entire cast were excellent and I really enjoyed the plot and the twist. A horror/thriller and definitely not going to be for everyone.

The Fablemans: One of the corniest coming of age stories I've ever seen. Spielberg at his most syrupy and sentimental. I really disliked this movie and I thought Michelle Williams was really bad in this.

Where the Crawdads Sing (2022 watched on Netflix)- Mystery, courtroom drama (which I love), human interest, beautiful scenery, outstanding story. Audiences loved it, critics hated it for some reason, something due to the book? I did not read the book.

It's a tv show. Don't encourage him in here ! lol

Seriously though, @hodad66 , what did you think?
You’re right! ☺️

Disney’s Atlantis The Lost Empire (2001)

Was a good watch - great little adventure story with (of course) a little romance thrown in (and thankfully no singing!). Next up is the fabled Treasure Planet which I also haven’t seen and which seems to have a bit of a cult following.

I've been on a British film noir/crime kick for the past week or so. Watched Tread Softly Stranger, Concrete Jungle/The Criminal and Room 43/Passport to Shame.

Uncharted (2022)- I’m giving Tom Holland another chance and in the starting energized sequence, which is not halfway believable, he kicks a guy to his death and apologizes in a very Spiderboy type way. And then there is Marky Mark going though the motions, deadpanning his lines and the story turns in the direction of National Treasure. Eh…did not finish it. 👎
I liked National Treasure. :)

The 2021 Christmas film Father Christmas is Back, featured on the Netflix homepage. It has an 8% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.😬
