Seminal Sci-Fi, if you haven't, you must simple as that...

An absolute cult classic, ruined by the dreadful pointless remake if you ever see it.

I need to see that again, but this movie is my Oscar vote by far!We really liked this film. I read a few articles before watching and they all commented on how the actor changed both in looks and emotions. Having known that before watching it, he really does and it is striking. The scenes are down right brutal and the last charge at the end. I am surprised someone didn't take him out just after he gave the order.
I liked it too but I hate that they used the original novel title... they didn't use that much of the source material ...We really liked this film. Probably could have been called 11/11/18 or some such...
All Quiet on the Western is a classic novel. One of my favorites.Oh... this is a book! I had no idea. Oh I hate when movies don't use the source material. Irritates me to no end. Especially if the book was really good and you go into a movie or show knowing what you want to see and well. The creative minds behind the camera on the writers are "hold my beer, this is MY movie or show!".

utter trash!
How'd you like the "villain" of that movie?I did watch every Oscar nominee this week as a critic,
and that movie should not have nominated.
Personally, everything was mundane from plot , acting scenery and overall feel of the movie.
obviously others liked that, but then again, they still sell medication!
the movie's director? How'd you like the "villain" of that movie?
still a bad movie
All Quiet on the Western is a classic novel. One of my favorites.
Kind of surprised you weren't aware of it...
They used a few things from the book but of the film was a different, and compelling, tale.
The original film, made in 1930, was pretty much taken straight from the novel:

Streaming it on day 1.
I was really excited after first watching Prometheu, not only did I enjoy it as a outstanding prequel, I thought an exciting new path lay ahead “I’m going to find out why the Engineers want to kill us” and then in Covenant the door of epicness was slammed shut as Elizabeth Shaw was short changed in her ambition and the story became a convoluted narrative that was more frustrating than enjoyable or intriguing. Instead of the story focusing on humans and engineers, it became a story about a murderous, sinister Android which I would not mind that as a side show, but not the main event.Prometheus (2012)

Really interesting & intelligently thought out provoking tangent, sadly only to be followed up by the all too weak Alien: Covenant (2017). The original Alien of 1979 remains to be one of the best science fiction films ever produced, never gets old...
Difficult to top this Alien (1979)

In the extreme. If you want the experience, play Alien Isolation in the dark, I whish you well on your path...
I play the game with a mod that increases the tether range of the xenomorph, yet also increases it's inquisitively & hostility. Makes for a very interesting play I assure.

Think Ridley Scott still has the eye, but has lost the art of storytelling. While Covenant was executed very well on a technical level it simply didn't engage. A bunch of clueless *******s in space.I was really excited after first watching Prometheu, ot only did I enjoy it as a outstanding prequel, I thought there was an exciting new path lay ahead “I’m going to find out why the Engineers want to kill us” and then in Covenant the door of epicness was slammed shut as Elizabeth Shaw was short changed in her ambition and the story became a convoluted narrative that was more frustrating than enjoyable or intriguing. Not a very conventional film, yet one of Scarlett Johansson's best performances...

An all time favorite 'twisty' movie!
