You guys should take a look at the flight simulators section in Macintosh garden..be like a stroll down memory lane for you. I was doing that yesterday and I'm sure all those game titles you mentioned are there...not surprisingly.

My own experience is some wot lacking..and typing in a game listing from a magazine that allowed one to drop bombs in 2D with the plane lowering on each sweep was about it..

I actually did look through there a while ago. Unfortunately, the best games were still for PC.

I do have a boxed game that I've never had the hardware to install.
Heroes European Air War by micro prose for Windows 95.

Nope ..not expecting it to run well on an iBook running virtual XP.

Well I did install virtual pc on my iBook yesterday with Windows XP..though I expect that won't be any use for those games you were seeking, Raf?

Oh, I have ways :) My 2019 Intel Macbook Pro, virtual machines and a Dell Windows desktop I have from work.

Sorry everyone for hijacking the thread. But these sims bring back so many memories.

A lot of these games spoke directly to the graphics card so they won't work with emulators. I tried years ago when I got Parallels.

Best movie sense slice bread! Eye opening and disturbing!

I recently signed up for RiffTrax for $6 a month. Access to hundreds of movies and shorts. I love riffing stuff. I'm a big fan a crappy movies and with riffing, like RiffTrax and MST3K, you not only get the riffing jokes, but a good, really bad movie to enjoy too.

I've watched HEAT for about the fifth time this week
Watched this last night..so thanks for the link, obe.
I'd seen it before but such a good movie. Certainly was miles better than any of the movie line up on tv last night. Read about how they tried to film in locations not filmed in other movies...so took more interest in the background scenery as well.

I thought 'Lucky' was a hoot of a movie...and all thru it I kept wondering is life in retirement better in a small town or in a big city??

And for some reason I've never seen 'Support your local sherif', but must get on to that.

TV Movie last night was the recently made 'Midway'.
One of the criticisms of that film is - '..it doesn't show us anything new in a war movie.' Well one of the benefits of CGI or digital movies over old school real objects movies is they can show us detailed 'props' like never before. The detail in those planes and ships is just amazing.

I remember the 1976 version, where they use stock footage of US Essex class carriers to represent Japanese carriers - stuff like that. Too bad CGI is primarily used for space or superhero movies now. I would love to see more historical moves, like WWII, represented with modern CGI.

Yes ..actually that's the movie I thought they were gonna be screening.

When I popped over to the USA and while at corpus-christi, went aboard a WW2 aircraft carrier - the Lexington. Jeez..it was so bloody hot on deck on that thing - dash uncomfortable !! Dunno how those deck hands could stay out there for plane ops going on.
