Speak of the Devil, media server just randomly served up Ghost Ship (2002)
View attachment 2188349
It's been up for over a year, so think a reboot might be in order as it's getting a little odd and it's one of the infamous 2011 15" MBP's. Yet it's been running 24/7 for literally years on end.

Q-6
Hold on, is this the movie that starts with

A cord that cuts people in half?

If so, I saw it at the theater when it was released. Good memories!

I hope you liked it!
Yes I did the film quality was good too..so the mid tone greys in that B&W film were great. The characters were interesting..and the story line was a trip.
Told a mate of mine who was in the movie business..theatre projectionist then movie processing for Peter Jackson. He has a movie database of all the films he's seen. He'd not heard of it..so was going to look it up. I think he was surprised douglas and Mitchum were in a film together.

Oh..and I didn't see that ending coming.

Ah! I am sure he will like it.

As for Mitchum and Douglas, I think it’s the only movie with both of them because they kept fighting on the set and they hated each other.

Asking seriously: How does one start watching the Marvel Universe? I saw a couple (this one and one with the "stone guy") and realized they don't work as well out of order. I'm retired now so I have the time. ;)
I have just the thread for you :D :

And this list gives you a good big picture view of Marvel Movies in published order:

The 12 movies I mention are directly related with Infinity stones. And I also offer a 7 movie viewing strategy, but prefer the 12. The only caveat is that while you can mostly watch them as per when they were first released, if you want to see things in chronalogical order, you would start with Captain America which is during WWII and then Captain Marvel which takes place in 1980s, before jumping on Iron Man.

The wife and I have gone though the list 3 times over the last couple of years . It is quite an accomplishment of narrative cinematic story telling that culminates in End Game. Although I have my issues with End Game. :D

Update: If you by chance are not familiar and plan on watching a bunch of Marvel movies, Disney Channel is just the ticket. :)

Erm.. I don't watch super hero movies..but is cap ..oh - I got captain America confused. Silly me..having a senior moment.
(Thought captain America had had a sex change. Hey 'Dr Who' did..so any things possible.)

Good looking movie poster though.
Imo, this is really a good movie, well written, well acted, it tells the story of how an average woman is transformed though the power of the Tesseract* from a hot military pilot into a powerful glowing being who can give easily give Thanos (the primarily villain of this movie series, but not in this movie) a run for his money.

*Arguably because of the Tesseract, one of six Infinity Stones, objects involved in the creation of the Universe, she is more powerful.

On Monday I saw the Super Mario Bros. movie. 9:45 pm start, to miss busy times, I didn't get home till after midnight.

As a long time fan of the games I really enjoyed it! Plus all the easter eggs I saw were cool.

Yay for the villains ..where would movies be without them?
Erm..are average women usually jet pilots?

My last movie: Joker.
Wot a dark disturbing movie!
..now there's a villain without any super power, but enough influential power to change a city.
Not a happy movie at all!
But wot one heck of a role to play..and that actor made such an excellent job of it.

Panfilov's 28 Men

Watch for the amazing giant statues at the end credits.
Wots even more amazing is wot you'll find if you search it.
No German records of this conflict..now why is that?

The views from inside a Panzer tank are kinda claustrophobic.

…as in “average person” vs an Eternal in the Marvel Universe :) Women have made large strides in military aviation in the last 40 years. When I was a student USN pilot in the mid 1980s, the first women appeared in the training pipeline. However for along time, they could not fly combat aircraft in combat. Actually, I’m not sure how much that has changed today as women are a small % of military pilots.

Women in aviation combat are still a small percentage, but it is growing. The first woman who flew in combat was back in 1995 (Martha McSally).

I used to play that back in the day. My favorite all time was Falcon 3.0.
Falcon 3.0 came with a thickish manual for a game, a sweet simulator. I went thought all the mission planning, figured out all my joystick settings, flew the mission, returned home and thought this is a lot of work, maybe more work than I want to do. 😊

I do remember having a lot of fun, although more arcade and multiplayer with Chuck Yeager’s Air Combat. There was also another simulator written for Mac as I recall, I can’t remember the name of that but it had fun multiplayer. Then there was this online sim I used to play with my Son in the 1990-2000ish WWII era where you could take over islands by capturing their airfield, 3 sides, and if you flew a bomber, other players could take up different positions on the aircraft like bombardier, tail gunner. Maybe that was Aces High, but not sure. 🤔

Edit: It was Warbirds, not Aces High…the other sim for Mac, I can't remember the name but was a small 1 man developer.

I remember Chuck Yeager's Air Combat. Gunship 2000 and EF-2000 (in flight refueling!) were others I enjoyed. Plus MicroProse had a lot of quality titles, like F-117 and F-15E sims.

But Falcon 3.0 (and 4.0 Allied Force re-release) were masterpieces. I did the same tihng as you, full mission planning, spent hours at a session. I still have a working copy of 4.0 - but I don't have time anymore for that kind of commitment.

Those MicroProse titles were like magic. The last flight sim I seriously flew was X-Plane. i was impressed that instead of tables to tell the aircraft how to fly, it actually calculated drag based on the airfoils and atmospheric conditions. At least I think it used to. ;)

It‘s hard to compare flying with your own setup vs being in a real plane, but when I was flying a real DC-9, I took an X-Wing DC-9 on a flight from Minneapolis to Detroit and I got the kind of performance and fuel economy as I would expect. :) I also remember the Virtual Airlines that used to run. Flight sim enthusiasts would actually fly a schedule, and I thought, can this be a real thing? ;)

I never fell in love with X-Plane because it was a flight simulation, but no real combat included at the time (maybe not now either? Don’t pay attention any more). So titles like F/A-18 would be a lot more appealing. There was a tactical Nuke delivery mission, where you had to pitch the plane up and loft deliver the bomb, so you had time to dive away and get out of the zone before it went off. I blew myself up at least once trying to finish it. :D

Yes, I had that one too - it was an F-16. If I remember, it was very realistic, but no virtual battlefield. Just 30 or so pre-set missions, including the nuke mission. But it was a blast to fly.

Another favorite was anything to do with carriers - F/A-18, Hellcats of the Pacific...
