Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970)

In the summer of 1941, the United States and Japan seem on the brink of war after constant embargos and failed diplomacy come to no end. "Tora! Tora! Tora!", named after the code words used by the lead Japanese pilot to indicate they had surprised the Americans, covers the days leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor, which plunged America into the Second World War.

I just finished watching send help like most modern films its ok not to spoil the movie i liked the rat scene & the vomiting scene so raimi, & the final fight scene. But i still prefer drag me to hell and a simple plan & bruce campbell.

I just started watching the latest avatar movie still undecided if its starting to get repetitive & boring. This is coming from a director who mocked marvel movies for the same issue.

The Shout (1978)

A traveller by the name of Crossley forces himself upon a musician and his wife in a lonely part of Devon, and uses the aboriginal magic he has learned to displace his host. A weird, bizarre, arthouse film with a pervasive sense of tension a psychological thriller with a super-natural twist at the end.

A nurse, a policeman, a young married couple and other survivors of a worldwide plague that is producing aggressive, flesh-eating zombies take refuge in a mega Midwestern shopping mall. I like both films, being different flavours of the same with a twist...

Meteor (1979)

After a collision with a comet, a nearly 8km wide piece of the asteroid "Orpheus" is heading towards Earth. If it hits it will cause an incredible catastrophe which will probably extinguish mankind. To stop the meteor NASA wants to use the illegal nuclear weapon satellite "Hercules" but discovers soon that it doesn't have enough firepower. Their only chance to save the world is to join forces with the USSR who have also launched such an illegal satellite. But will both governments agree?

Strange Days (1995)
1775855406507.png

Probably one of the best big-budget sci-fi films to never reach a big audience. Written and produced by James Cameron and expertly directed by Kathryn Bigelow. A film that is more noir than actual sci-fi. It's a visceral warning of voyeurism, technology & power being a fusion of science fiction and social noir... This is Cyberpunk, nor the fluffy version all too often portrayed.

Loved this Film when it came out. The first person perspective was mind blowing at the time.

Then Fat Boy Slim sampled it: "Right here, right now."

The end title sequence was an instant classic..

I only found out that Elijah Wood (of LOTR) was in Back to the Future 2 as a child actor yesterday.
I miss these sort of 80’s feel good movies. A bit of fun and escapism when I rewatch them now, but they just don’t make those sort of movies anymore.
