A corny joke or two to gloss over the fact that Apple have done precious little for Mac users for years now, other than introduce joke machines like the new Mac Mini.

...and all to introduce three updated computers, years late, and perhaps a hint of "jam tomorrow" for a lineup that is still woefully inadequate and outdated.

Don't forget magical!

Apple should have the courage to admit that the cylindrical Mac Pro is a bad design, and release a Mac Pro tower again. Apple's pride is doing nothing but hindering their customers. If they showed even just a shred of humility, they'd gain so many customers back.

They did with watchOS 3 - I'm assuming they will here if they really believe they made a mistake.

I'm hoping to upgrade my 2012 13" MacBook Air but if the new model looks exactly the same as previous models then I'm going to upgrade to the new Pro.
I think there's such a thing as "visual fatigue" (???) where consumers get bored with the way a product looks, which is why manufacturers continue to change the look of products.
We've seen all other Apple products evolve so why is it that the MacBook Air hasn't changed.
Hopefully this is the year we see something different and exciting. :)
2 more days to go......

Yes, I seriously thought a "Pro" level machine would have replaceable memory.

Well it did and then it didn't.:( It would be nice to have it on the higher end MacBook pro's at least, like the 27' Imac vs the 21 iMac. I just bought 16 more gigs of ram for a 2012 that we are repurposing for music editing.

Honestly, I'm not using any programs that will benefit from a spec bump, but I hope their OLED keyboard offers some type of usability enhancement. I'm upgrading regardless because I need a larger screen and hard drive.

I upgraded to the iPhone 7 plus and the only real enjoyment I have over the iPhone 6 plus is going from 64 to 256 gigs of storage -maybe the ram upgrade as well. Everyone asks for spec bumps, but few state the purpose for it. I read how much better the iPhone seven is over the 6, but outside of the camera improvements, i don't see much of a difference in my apps. I much more impressed with the advancements in iOS. I can't see it being much different for MacBook pros, although I do support those that need high end graphics performance getting what they want!

One point about spec bumps I do agree with though, is don't charge so much, if your not willing to offer the latest technological advancements in your products - at least the ones that have a utility.

If Xiaomi could offer a Ceramic phone at that price, you still want to be fooled paying for that Ceramic Apple Watch?

Something tells me, Mac wouldn't be that exciting.
Here in the US, you can get a ceramic coffee mug for free if you donate to your local public radio station. But it's probably not the same kind of ceramics.

You mean, the users here will finally stop whining? (especially after every Apple event where clearly nothing pointed towards MBP releases)

Thank you, Apple! That's what I am looking forward to the most from this event.

To the contrary, prepare for whining like you've never heard it before. Unless Apple jumps to AMD APUs or eschews Intel's Iris Pro for a split iGPU / dGPU lineup, Skylake will debut in the new MBPs. Moreover, despite the fandom for USB-C among some MR members, I don't see an all USB-C lineup faring well with the average consumer. Even my mom won't buy one. She is planning to buy the last gen 13" MBP when the new ones are released.

I hope they discontinue the non-retina MBP and make the retina MBP their base.

Yes, I seriously thought a "Pro" level machine would have replaceable memory.
The "Magic" trackpad isn't actually magic.

"Pro" is just a word. It doesn't necessarily mean "professional memory replacer." If your profession is replacing memory on laptops then you should be able to cope with soldered memory better than mere amateurs. And if you're a professional of a different sort, you may not care about whether the memory is replaceable.

All I want is a macbook air with an IPS display that has better colours, other than that it can be exactly the same as my 2013 air which is basically the perfect computer other than the crap screen they used. I don't care if it has a big bezel, I don't have if it has a low resolution, just give me IPS and better colours!

We do this right now in our offices. Guests visting from our satellite offices can plug their MacBooks into an iMac and use it as a second display.

  1. Make sure both computers are turned on.
  2. Connect the Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt cable between the two computers.
  3. Press Command-F2 on the keyboard of the iMac that you want to use as a display.

correct me if I am wrong but that was a feature on the 27" only?

Hmm, just read through a ton of posts again as a newbie to Apple and this site. ;)

A lot of frustration and cynicism from most of the posts, and yet a probability that many of these individuals are devoted purchasers of Apple products. o_O

There is something wrong somewhere.

Umm, no.

The headphone jack (in Apple devices) NOT in Paradise.

It is in HELL.

Dongle-Hell, along with every other useful-and-still-in-heavy-use port: Rack #5 at the Apple Store, where Apple will be happy to charge you more for something that was there to begin with for free.

Enough with floppy-disk nonsense. The two are not even close to equivalent, comparison-wise.
Looking back, we know that it was time for the floppy disk to go. The headphone jack is still a raw sore. We'll need a few years before we can look back and realize that the headphone jack was ready to go, too.

What?!?!?! No HDMI port? One of the only reasons I've been considering the pro over the air is the ability to utilize 2 external screens - one being my TV via HDMI. A little disappointed.

Apples new slogan..."there's a dongle for that"

I wish I could just call up Tim and say, "Hey, Tim! Give me my 2011 CTO 11" Macbook Air, but without the bezel and a better screen. Give me back my 17" MacBook Pro with anti glare screen for development! Give us a computer that's fast enough for 4K Video Content production and 3D Gaming at 60fps (we don't care what it looks like.) Put a second camera on my iPhone and give me programatic access to it to create 3D content! Hey, give developers access to the compressed H264 video stream so WE can create awesome tech like AirPlay! Give OS X focus follows mouse! Oh, and don't take away great tech like MagSafe!"

I'm not sure who's Apple's customers are these days, but I don't think I'm in that demographic.
