Would I be right in thinking, most here would like/expect that the new Apple TV, as it runs on mains power, and can get rid of heat a LOT easier.....

This new device, hopefully being announced today. Should be at least as powerful this this years 2015 iPad model when it comes to CPU and GPU performance, so, as a set top box, it can run entertainment apps at least, at the same speed as Apple's battery powered mobile tablet.

That would not be toooo much to ask would it?

I'm hoping Siri for Apple TV will be like Amazon Echo.

Hey Siri - what's the weather for today?
Hey Siri - make me a cup of coffee!
Hey Siri - Buy me an rMBP and ship to home using Apple Pay.

If Apple TV utilizes Siri like the Echo then perhaps that's why we haven't got her on the Mac yet.

I was on the waitlist for Echo for like 6 months, I got it delivered at the beginning of August had it set up, used it for a few hours and then packed it up later that evening. The voice recognition was pretty good for the most part but the user interface was necessary to get it to do many things even with voice and that app was just terrible. I couldn't get my Amazon music library to play correctly. It was just a headache.

If Apple does that then I'd get an Apple TV right away and start walking around my house pretending like I was on board a Federation starship speaking to the computer.

OK. Not sure if trolling, but just in case:

PPI means "pixels per inch". In other words, in one physical inch, there are X pixels (in the case of the iPhones 4 through 6: 326). In one inch. So if you have 4.7 inches instead of 4 inches, you have more pixels. But the PPI doesn't change.
Jesus...Look at the resolution, not just PPI. Its practically the same resolution stretched to an additional .7". Put a 5s next to the current Iphone 6 4.7" and the difference is blatantly obvious.

...one has to first accept that it needs to be very good in American English...

For some reason I have the most success if I set my phone to 'Australian English'. I'm British by the way. I find that it understands me more. Of course this does have some negative effects as I find myself using Australian vernacular from time to time.

Strewth, all me tinnies are gone. Best go 'ave a word with me Sheila!

Wait...Sapphire hasn't passed any of Apple's drop tests? I thought Saphhire was the next hardest substance next to diamonds! What drop test does apple use on its current iphones? Do they drop it on fluffy pillows? Lol Cause the glass they are using now cracks if you look at it wrong. :p

Brittleness generally goes hand in hand with hardness. Hardness keeps it from scratching, but makes it brittle. Brittle things break when they are dropped.

The "Hey, Siri" tagline is for two things.

The first: Apple TV
The second: Always-on Siri for the 6s and 6s Plus

(The fact you'll need to say "Hey, Siri" to activate the features.)

I think I cracked the "Hey, Siri give us a hint" .. The hint is actually within the tagline "Hey, Siri give us a hint" !

Hey Siri = Hands free Siri communication without need for iPhone to be hooked to cable. Today for "Hey Siri" to work the iPhone must be attached to a cable charging . But after today the iPhone will constantly listen for Hey Siri . Maybe same things goes for the Apple TV .. either way

Apple could have written "Siri give us a hint" but the did not they wrote "Hey, Siri give us a hint" that actually hints for a Siri that at anytime can be called on without the need for iPhone to be charging to work ..

This feature could even find its way to the Apple TV and Mac

You just looked at my post ;)

So the Gen 9 iPhone, who thinks they will they do something really massive for the Gen 10 next year?
I really hope for next year thanks to force touch separate hardware+sapphire crystal to remove the home button and make the iphones body to screen ratio higher

I really hope iOS 9 will fix the utterly disastrous Apple Music app. It rendered my music library hopelessly useless. Songs would randomly pause, sometimes not play at all, by far the worse software released by Apple.

Apple will be on stage tomorrow at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco to announce several new products, including the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, iPad Pro, iPad mini 4, fourth-generation Apple TV and new Apple Watch bands and finishes. The keynote should also provide updates about iOS 9 and watchOS 2.

MacRumors will be providing live blog and Twitter coverage of the "Hey Siri" media event, which commences at 10 AM Pacific on Wednesday. Below is a roundup that previews what to expect at the keynote based on previous reports from MacRumors, 9to5Mac, TechCrunch, Re/code, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and other sources.

iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus

The ninth-generation iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will look virtually the same as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, retaining 4.7" and 5.5" ion-strengthened glass displays respectively with similar exterior designs.

It has been rumored for a few years that iPhones will eventually switch to sapphire crystal displays, but well-informed KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently claimed the material has yet to pass Apple's internal drop tests.

Apple has addressed bending issues by designing the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus with Series 7000 aluminum, which is stronger and marginally thicker compared to Series 6000 aluminum used on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The rear shell will still have a layer of anodization to protect against corrosion and allow for different color options, including space gray, silver, gold and a new rose gold color. The new color should look similar to the rose gold Apple Watch Edition.

Hmm you must be a big time troll trying to spew garbage. either that or your intelligence is questionable...lol.

The iphone 6 has same ppi as the 5 and 5s.
The iphone 6 is physically bigger that the 5 or 5s (4.7 inch vs 4 inch).
In order for the iphone 6 to maintain that same pixel density with a physically larger screen, it has to have physically more pixels(higher resolution).
which it does....

Iphone 6 has a resolution of 1334 x 750 (~1 million pixels).
Iphone 5s has a resolution of 1136 x 640 (~725k pixels).

Hence the iphone 6 has approximately 275,000 more pixels than the iphone 5s hence maintaining the same pixel density of 326 despite being physically larger than the iphone 5s.

Now i feel stupid explaining this. Please tell me that you just had a misunderstanding. :)

"One more thing..." won't be a thing this year, right? It was recently trademarked by Swatch to get back at Apple. So, wonder what it will be instead.

I am sure Apple can continue to use it as it is an expression, just this morning I said to someone 'oh and one more thing..' and I haven't heard anything from Swatch yet..

Think John Gruber has a point. No new iPads tomorrow.

This a wild care item for me, I think Apple have the patience to wait till October. If iPads are shown today then I am sure there will be no Apple TV announcement until October.
