I think you've nailed it right there. I don't think the new Apple TV is going to be as big as people are hoping. I think it'll be largely the same design (probably a bit smaller) with a refreshed UI which includes Siri and an App Store. Probably some fancy graphics processor to allow for very casual gaming and apps, but nothing seriously power hungry. Probably around the same price too, with a couple of pricing tiers for more storage etc. Everyone's expecting a touch screen remote too, I'm not convinced we'll see that but I'm prepared to be surprised.

I can imagine people being disappointed with whatever they release. Say they build in an A8 chip, App Store and motion sensing remote. Similar specs to the iPod touch, so let's say it sells for $199... The reaction by many will be 'they added Siri and and App Store and we have to pay that much? And the remote is hardly new... Anyone heard of the Nintendo wii? Another bust...'

So my crap 6+ will become even more crap and annoying tomorrow when I learn there's a new, better version out that corrects all the faults. Way to go Apple, an iPhone used to be good for 24 months but this POS has been trouble since day one.

Just because tomorrow they are announcing the new model, it doesn't mean that your 6Plus is all of a sudden going to stop working, it just means that there will be a better-specd device. There is a new phone ever ~year with some exceptions, and now even Android is on that same page specifically with the Galaxy S and Tab.

PLUS -- at this point it is your own fault for having a "crap 6+". There is a return policy on every phone, if it was crap from day one it is your own fault for not returning it and getting something you consider better.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the new bluetooth keyboard or Magic Mouse 2. For me those excite me the most behind the new Apple TV.

Its all about the Apple TV for me. Hoping the new one doesn't suffer from as many wireless drop outs from the network.

So let me get this straight... I shouldn't rush to go out and get a new iPhone 6s.
The way Apple has been for the past few years or so it might be best to wait for the eventual hardware and software kinks to be worked out.

I thought we were also getting a cool new full size, black key, backlit keyboard - wireless and wired (with USB 3.0 hub)??

I'm losing hope that Siri is ever going to work very well. It's been years and it's still terrible IMO. OK for simple stuff but gets tripped up too easily (and I even try to speak slowly, clearly, and don't have an accent). So when I hear that Siri is going to be the primary interface to the new Apple TV, I'm not encouraged.

This is what I expect:
-----------------------

"Good morning."
"Thank you for coming."
"We have some incredible things to show you. Our teams have been working so hard.."
"It's been an amazing year for Apple."

Then, either an Apple Store opening video, or a milestone of Apps downloaded/number of Apps available/
amount of dollars paid to developers.

Watch - "our customers are loving it. here's a video.."
unveil new straps, & mention WatchOS 2 coming soon.. perhaps showing a key feature or two.

iPhone - graphs of market share, iOS share/latest version, maybe even a video
And then some clever spin to lead into the next iPhone, given the fairly incremental upgrades.
Perhaps it will focus on the camera, or perhaps on the display and loads of techy detail
on how 3D Force Touch works.
6S and 6S+ revealed and low-down on the specs, price and pre-orders date.

iPad - another video showing cool iPad users, such as pilots and dance instructors..
Mini iPad update. Reveal iPad Pro (probably with a different name). Stylus in artistic programs, and
a diary app for business users. Super expensive, but will look gorgeous!

Interlude - some non-Apple presentation.. perhaps a game developer showing a dull new game with
amazing graphics, or perhaps a drawing app developer showing cool artistic work with the stylus.
In an attempt to show that this new apple stylus is way better than any of the many other styluses
produced for the iPad already, and the other tablets on the market.

"We're not finished" or "One More Thing" (but that seems too cliched these days..)
Apple TV is an area of interest.. "we want to move it on" (to use Siri etc)
New Apple TV shown. Emphasis on its 'hub' role, and using Siri to control it...
with spotlight on gaming/apps, as well as showing TV channels. Available to buy tomorrow.

Total time: 2 hours, 10 minutes.
Thank you. I no longer need to watch it. Lol.

It's a lot worse for non English users. Switch your language to German and then try making Siri play any of your English song titles or ask for the next "Subway". No can do, because it refuses to mix the English names with whatever local language you are using. Or switch Siri to English and then to navigate to a street named in a different language.

Gurman claims Apple has been working with "well known fashion brands" on new watch bands and features which could be announced today. I'm curious what the features could be. He also says the TV software will be called tvOS.

I think we're in for something special with the new Apple TV. Even an Apple TV with an App Store might shake up the streaming box market.

I also think a stand alone iPad event will occur for the new iPad pro. It won't be just a bigger iPad...
The streaming box market is all about staying low cost though. If we see an App Store and this new box has at least the power of an iPhone 6, I imagine it would shake up entry level console gaming (looking at the wii u, play station TV, etc).

I think there will always be a place for a simple stream stick without bells and whistles. If the price point is $150+ I think that's going to appeal to a different demographic. The question, though, is how much demographic overlap there is (how many people want both).

I don't disagree, but I think to expect solid performance in OTHER languages, one has to first accept that it needs to be very good in American English, considering that is where the most testing and development occurs anyway.

So the Gen 9 iPhone, who thinks they will they do something really massive for the Gen 10 next year?

iPad plus, not iPad pro.

Nothing pro about it imho
I ask, not to imply you're wrong, what would constitute it as pro? I assume maybe a more robust os?

If we had something similar to a surface pro but in iPad form I would be very intrigued myself. For my usage patterns a tablet alone just isn't worth the money. A full blown computer that looks and acts like a tablet when I want it to (and with OSX) would get me very excited. Mind you, I'm not expecting this to be announced at all.

Not sure what there is left to do. We have the much larger screens. We've seen spec bumps yearly. I feel incredibly old to have been around for closing in on ten generations of iPhone. The original feels like it launched yesterday.

I don't doubt Apple can cram a computer into a tablet form factor. The problem is that OSX is not touch capable yet. Microsoft invested heavily into touch OS's so right now they are ahead in that market.

I saw a video of a hackintoshed MS Surface running Yosemite with full multi-touch gestures, was pretty amazing.. kinda feels like apple needs to go this route soon.

bringing the mobile and desktop os together must be in their plans somewhere...
