Makes sense for you then. I hope the improvements are to your liking.
Me too. I do the upgrade program anyway. Also, I don’t believe there is much more that can be done in this medium that will wow. The iPhone is where the iPod was.

Consternation about lack of new features and capabilities should be channeled into anticipation for the glasses.

Do you think the glasses are not far off?

My guess, new iPhones, slight update to the watch configurations available, maybe new 10.2" entry level iPad. October will be when the new MacBook Pro, and perhaps iPad Pros are introduced. Apple have never introduced a Mac at the iPhone event previously, September is usually just about their tent pole device, and accessories for it (watch, AirPods etc). In 2015 there were also iPads because there was no October event that year. I guess this year might have the iPad if they want to get it out there, leaving October for MacBook Pro + iPad Pro.

Anyone else not even remotely interested in iPhone 11? If they surprise me with Apple Pencil support though I'm in.

An odd question, unless one always lockstep accepts rumors as fact.

Therefore I'm interested in seeing what Apple releases. I'll very likely upgrade just for the cameras, especially if the rear camera is 3D depth-sensing via time-of-flight, and also for the bump in Ax speed. Bluetooth 5.1 would be icing, especially if it better supports Apple's upcoming "tiles."

I don’t know. I used to think they were close but I’ve realized this company can and will wait as long as they need for the product to debut.

I also thought the company was intentionally slow in releasing a successor to iPod. However, history shows the iPhone was being rushed faster and with more burnouts than any other product the company had done.

I think Tim is not driving teams the way Steve did, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t people giving everything they have right now to bringing the glasses to market ASAP.

Let's see if there are any hints on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, the 3D camera stuff is supposed to have been pushed back to 2020 at this point. This year will literally just be a third lens for wide-angle shots according to most leaks (at this stage of the game it's usually all pinned down pretty definitively).

And thus, my response to the person asking if anyone is interested in the iPhone 11, wanting to see what is actually released.

I'm still interested if there's a better non-3D camera and Bluetooth 5.1. As a photographer I'd like a wider angle lens option on the back.

I know I'm not alone on this one, I'd love to see more diversity in siri's voice.
Hearing a harsh white female all the time is getting boring,

My point though, was at this stage of the cycle the rumours are seldom wrong - it's almost certainly not happening, because if it was, the supply chain analysts would have spotted it. When was the last time we actually got a big surprise iPhone feature that wasn't leaked well in advance? Heck, Apple possibly leak this stuff themselves to temper expectations and keep the share price from rocketing/plummeting.

I don't think you're understanding me. That's fine if you want to lockstep believe analysts. I'm interested in what's actually released.

I understand, you think there's a chance that when it's announced the ToF camera is going to be there against what all the leaks and rumours have been pointing to for months. There's always this feeling for some, I've had it myself on several occasions in the past, but it never comes to fruition. The analysts are too good, the supply chain is too leaky. You can be pretty certain when there's multiple collaborating leaks in the weeks and days ahead, that if they say it won't be there, it won't.

Why are you so invested in how others choose to interpret information? That doesn't seem healthy.

As I said, if you want to lockstep accept analyst predictions, that's fine with me.

Eh, just trying to be conversational based on what I've experienced in the past thinking the same thing. Have learned the hard way after several disappointing keynotes that didn't have to be ;)

Please Apple, Give me:

  • Improved FaceID. Meaning multiple angles, works closer and further away, and unlocks faster.
  • 90hz screen. Some people say this doesn’t matter much on a smartphone screen, but ever since I saw it, I’ve been wanting it.
  • A true night function for the camera. Like the Pixel and the Huawei cameras. iPhone camera quality has lagged behind in recent years, especially when it comes to low light.
Those 3 things, in addition to the CPU and GPU spec bumps, will be enough to get me to upgrade. Otherwise I’ll either stick with my X for another year or try to find a deal on a used XS max.

I’m interested in it because I like to use the best possible camera equipment as soon as it’s available. My life is documented in photographs—and I’m happy enough with simply continuously improved fidelity in this crucial daily recorder.
For me the iPhone is primarily a phone (dare I say?) supplemented with decent photographic and other useful functionality in one very convenient and useful handheld device. That said, if you really "like to use the best possible camera equipment" then perhaps you would be better served by a dedicated high end digital camera.

Apple: Give us a $1,100 or below notebook with the new scissor mechanism keyboard. Thanks. (Guessing I will be waiting until 2021 for it though)

There won't be 16' MBP. Just face it. Laptops have 11, 13 and 15' displays. They used to have even 17 but they didn't catch on.

Also, iPad Pros were just refreshed, why would they update it again? Also don't care, I just ordered my new (first) iPad pro 11 256 gb in Space Grey. Will be my daily driver for photo editing instead my old 2010 MBP 13'. I will also wait few more months and get the new iPhone XR or older XS for cheaper.

The price you pay for all 24 installments on the Apple iPhone Upgrade program is the exact same price you would have paid if you bought the phone in full with AppleCare included. Nice insult. Very mature discussion.

Right. But you were just bragging that you weren't making all 24 payments. So your way, you're out $830 and have nothing to show for it but one year of rent on a phone. If you'd bought the phone outright and traded in to Apple after 1 year, you'd already be ahead. Let alone the fact that there's plenty of ways to get more than Apple's trade-in value on a 1 year old phone.

And that doesn't even mention you're paying the $200 extended warranty fee for a phone you only plan to keep 1 year that comes with a 1 year warranty. Brilliant.

I think we’re forgetting that Apple is a company that used to pride itself for making beautifully designed products. The iPhone 11’s design is not beautiful - it’s antithetical in almost every way to what could be considered good design.

Sums up Tim Cook’s Apple pretty nicely.
[doublepost=1567967790][/doublepost]Meh. Nothing amazing as far as I know

1. Bilateral wireless charging- Samsung did that 6 months ago

2. Triple camera lens- other manufacturers have done that already too

3. Faster processor- my iPhone X is already fast enough

4. No USB-C- when the whole world is moving towards usbc, Tim Cook wants to keep that lightning licensing money flowing in

Pass.

$1100? Soon enough Apple will only let you buy iPads with that money. Think $2-3k for MacBooks if the insane pricing strategy continues

I’m most excited about the Qi-compatible wireless charging Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard. ⌨️
