How many more years is this middle paragraph gonna be rolled out as if its relevant anymore. You can only reinvent the wheel once!!!

And the old.. "they will do it right" bobbins.. jeez.. their software is a joke right now!!
A joke that so many people use just fine and many of them like it? That's some joke.

I still use a mid 2012 MacBook Pro retina for design/graphic/development/video work at my job just fine. Highly doubt your daughter is gonna cry about not having the latest specs for college, where it'll just be on Facebook 90% of the time.

You're right that most computers out there - Apple or PC will meet her needs. My main thing is getting something that's rock solid reliable, easy to use and not going to cause any issues/problems. And me feeling like I'm getting the most bang for my buck.

Though I'd have to disagree about Facebook - she's in the generation that thinks Facebook is for 'old people'. :)

And many people have switched from Andriod. I personally don't have a problem with IOS or OSX, i enjoy using it, at least I know it works.

I am already disappointed. I cannot remember the last time Apple excited me.. The original iPhone and iPhone..

Yet I still buy their products. I don't care if it's Apple or any other Brand I want a new product to revolutionize the industry... Holy crap I might be able to hide default icons!! Omg.. make my screen look dark!?

WWDC aside it looks like we are going to have the same iPhone design for 3rd year in a row.. what the flying fudgemagnet. At least I could always try to be excited about getting the same product in a new shape of glass and plastic.. but not now.

As much as I love the quality of apple products.. I really hope their ship starts sinking and their stocks tank or something really aweful happens.. because we need some true innovation back from this company..

"heres an iPhone" "Heres a big iPhone (ipad)" "heres a mini iPhone (apple watch)" "Hes even bigger iPhone (iPad pro)" "Heres an apple tv! (iPhone on your tv screen)" "Heres an iPhone that only plays music! (iPod touch)"

Can't lie.. the one change I really do like and did get excited about is Night Shift mode. Even if it doesn't actually work to make you sleep faster.. I enjoy the extra dimming you get while reading on it in bed. That's sad.. most excited I have been about this company in last 5 years in Night Shift mode.

You forgot:

8) "People love their Apple Products" or
9) "We think you're going to love it"

Is anyone going to keep a running tally of Cookism's for WWDC?
I think he will out do himself this time round.

Woah! Lets not hope the stock crumbles.. That's my retirement you're talking about.

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off on Monday, June 13 with a keynote event at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, where Apple is expected to show off the latest versions of its iOS, OS X, tvOS, and watchOS operating systems and perhaps debut new features for services like Apple Pay and iCloud.

Ahead of the conference, we've compiled all of the rumors that we've heard about features that could potentially debut at the event to give MacRumors readers an idea of what to expect.

iOS 10

Apple's operating system for iPhones and iPads has gone largely without design changes since iOS 7, so it's reasonable to assume iOS 10 may feature some design tweaks to update the look of the OS. A dark mode is one possibility that's been circulating based on the look of Apple's WWDC app and site, but there's no evidence suggesting such a feature will be implemented.

It may be me but i noticed a thread on another website about Siri on the Mac. A person asked Siri to open settings in the window and Siri replied I can not find an app named Finder.
Some people think this means that OS X will get Siri, either that or IOS will get Finder?

I asked some questions of my own and got the following responses.

Siri open Disk settings" Siri replies by saying "I'm afraid I couldn't find the settings for that app"
I asked a few questions each one to open a settings pane in OS X (apart from ones that are own both OS x and IOS such as Display etc). Each time I get the same answers.
It appears that Siri is saying that I have those 'apps' but not those settings. Despite the fact that I do not have any app with those names or even close.
Not sure if it means anything but I think it signals what we all know which is OS X is getting Siri.

if so, here is hoping it will be good and work.

All the signage at Moscone is black. Should we read anything into that? Someone claiming to be in the know posted on 9to5Mac today that iOS would have UI changes. John Gruber also posted this on Twitter:
@eli_schiff Probably. But I’ve heard talk of a thorough UI refresh on iOS. Refresh, not overhaul, but significant. We’ll see.

I couldn't disagree more. I love the flat look and I think it makes it so much easier to read and if not so much more fresh looking. Every time I see an older movie with an iPhone with iOS6 on it, it just makes me think how dated and ugly it looked. Of course that's just IMO.

I am hoping for dark mode after WWDC.

I use both, iOS 6 and iOS9 on a daily basis and I think the 3d look of the older versions is more polished and high-end. The thing is that people know which one is older and make the connection in their brain when they see it. Change equates to fresh and new. Electronic manufacturers use material colors to create the same effect in the mind of the consumers. Just think about how every few years the trend in consumer electronics products changes from black to silver and vice versa, so the old becomes new back again.

Regarding the iOS GUI, compare the icons for: Battery Charging, Calculator, Setting Alarm Clock and Keypad, just to name a few. They were more “photo realistic” and easier to read in iOS 5 and 6. I know that if I am patient enough I will see the return of the 3d look. It’s just a matter of time.

Even if they encrypt iCloud backups, I don't see how they'll be able to protect them against brute forcing - are they going to store each one on special hardware that mirrors the iOS devices' functionality to lock out retries and potentially self-erase?

"This year we decided to surprise all of you with something no one could've imagined: Michael Spindler is back as CEO!"

first it was the ipod, then the iphone and then

the ipad. i can assure you that apple will never

release a ground breaking product again. products such

as the ipod, iphone and ipad were already out in the market

before apple release these items, but they were not good and usable.

apple came along pick up the ideas and polish them and made them

usable. these companies with the idea first before apple came along and

made polished items from their ideas have learn from the mistakes of their past and so they are innovating at a much

faster pace than apple.

apple now is just a company playing catchup, always late when releasing new products. here are a few examples:

1. apple watch, samsung and other companies have already release

numerous versions of smartwatches way before apple. the apple watch

is not innovative, does not look any better or do anything more than other smartwatches.

2. apple music. again late to the market. spotify and pandora have been around way longer. again apple music does not offer anything superior to spotify.

3. there are rumors about apple releasing an electric car, the so called

"apple" car. Again even if they release a car, late again, tesla already

dominating this market.

4. apple recently purchased a car riding service in china. again late to

market, Uber already dominates this market in the US.

5. there is also talk about apple getting into the virtual reality/augment

reality space. again late to the game again. samsung, oculus (facebook), microsoft and various other companies are way ahead of apple in this area.

6. releasing ipad pro with keyboard as a computer replacement. again

late to the game, the microsoft surface is dominating this area.

7. there are talks about apple going into the tv streaming business, and

how they were in talks with the various broadcasting companies, but

talks stalled. again late to the game, SlingTV already streaming some live

tv channnels, playstationvue also streaming live tv, and youtube will have a
live streaming television next year.

8. talks about apple releasing a digital assistant device. again late to the game
amazon already have a device called echo

9. apple pay. google already had google wallet way before apple but it
never took off. apple pay is not doing well either, a report said less than 1%
use apple pay, and we never hear apple talk about apple pay nowadays.

so you see there is a recurring theme of apple entering a space already occupied by other companies and releasing products that are not innovative or that do not do much more than what offerings from other companies do.

apple will continue to milk their cash cow the iphone, but that will also eventually dry. they can not depend on the iphones indefinitely. just wait until

xiaomi enters the US smartphone market with premiums phones that are much much cheaper.

right now, i see samsung innovating much much more than apple, first with the galaxy S7 edge with the curved phone, and there are talks next year in 2017, samsung will be releasing two types of bendable phones that fold up.

so my point is apple will never ever release a ground breaking product again. the other companies have "wisen" up and are innovating at a much

faster pace than apple.

No new Mac mini, no new Mac pro, no new Mac book, no new Apple Display...but I can't wait to put my hands on some brand new watch bands !!! and I can't wait to put my hand on an even thinner iMac, even if I don't see it's back, I love to think how thin it's back could be !!! Go Tim and Ive, thinner and thinner, nothing else matter!

By the way the new Mac mini should have 8 cores, 12 cores, 16 cores, not 2 cores.

I just wonder what the heck the people currently on Apple's board think.

Don't they see that all these Apple product are stagnant and haven't been updated in years ?

People keeping saying "Thinner and thinner" is all Apple is about -- yet one of the first places Apple partnered with to accept Apple Pay was McDonalds, and they recently announced a KFC deal too. What gives?

People expect too much from WWDC. It's always about the software and we're lucky if we get any hardware announcements.

I love discussing tumours.
[doublepost=1465677259][/doublepost]

TBH I'd quite like to see an Apple without Cook. Feel like he's playing the company way too safe. Apple is literally sitting on billions, they can afford to actually attempt innovation and have a brand new product category fail horribly with little to not side effects for the company. But all he's interested in is keeping the company ticking over and maintaining the current products, rather than actually making anything new. I don't think the 'Apple Car' is anything like what people are thinking, it could literally just be CarPlay development.
If he doesn't have money in the bank... how else is he going to make the spaceship fly?
If he wants to spend the money, let him fix some of what's wrong with the current products and improve support. Just for once, I'd like an iPhone answer to a support call that isn't "do a factory reset on the phone and set it up as new". Personally - I find it both funny and sad that I plug my phone into an apple dock (original - bought in the Apple Store), connected with an apple cable and the phone tells me that the device is not supported. If they can't get that right I doubt that rebranding the OS makes a hell of a lot of difference.

There are people like me who are happy with Apple's software and welcome any new features that already exist on other platforms to the Apple platform. It makes what we love even better.

Then there are people like who dismiss any attempt by Apple to make the platform better and do nothing but bitch and complain how Apple doesn't innovate and how bad their software is and yet REFUSE to leave for another platform.
