Find my iPhone using strangers IOS Devices to collocate, that’s creepy. Is that a negotiation with government for a discreet backdoor? Anonymous takeover of all IOS devices to query for a particular device or worse a database that stores IOS devices location history so only particular devices need to be remotely queried in an expanding manner until a hit. Since WiFi or cell signal not required what are they adding NFC or Bluetooth or both?

Since when are mesh networks creepy (that’s basically what this is)? This would simply make an iPhone act like a node in a network.

Any chance Scott Forstall will be on stage announcing the return of user interfaces that are easy to use, approachable, friendly and fun?

Nope, the bulk of their users have moved on to a more modern devices with a more modern look. It’s dead, time to move on. As much as the Mac diehards want to relive the past, it’s not gonna happen.

The same Apple Maps and Siri that are still woefully inferior to Google Maps and Alexa after 7 years of different leadership? Yeah lets pick a scapegoat.

What? Not a scapegoat. He was canned for over-promising and under-delivering. It happens everyday to managers who fail to deliver.

Apple Maps and Siri have improved tremendously since then. I use them both everyday. But again, that's not the issue. It's about Forstall's (in)actions. Period.

Are you comparing a personal or corporate purpose built mesh WiFi network to combining all IOS devices for the sole purpose of colocation? Plus being used in background, by who knows who? Look up Geofencing and Law Enforcement. This builds it into IOS

Do you genuinely miss the iOS 6 and earlier interface? Every time I’m reminded of screenshots they look jarringly dated to my eyes. I don’t even feel nostalgic looking at them.

Each to their own I suppose.

Anything that is old will look outdated, I don't assume anyone looking at BlackBerry OS and think its amazing, but at the time they were selling like hot cakes and customers were happy. It was approachable, friendly, and fun which is missing in current iOS. As long time Apple user I noticed Apple apps and OSs don't "It just works" like it used to be, it got complicated and more confusing... not bad just not as good as it used to be.

I expect to be highly disappointed.

Heartbreakingly so.

I don’t say this to be snarky, I say this as a long time Apple fan and customer. It’s just the trajectory this company is on. And the leaks look Terrible.

This is to be expected, what made Apple is the passion of Jobs to create the best user experience and that built a dedicate following user base. Cook on the other hand has passion for maximum profit not user experience this is why prices have been rising and user friendliness/innovation has taken a back seat.

I hope their are surprises because this doesn’t sound like a major update.

Sounds like there are 8 people working in iOS if the change to the volume indicator is a highlight

You may be right. I believe most of their resources are used up, looking for ways to increase revenue and/or user base.

I'm wondering if Apple has forgotten to update Car Play.

I am hoping there will be CarPlay updates. Listening to a podcast with an intervening iMessage stops and freezes the Podcast. I hope it is getting fixed.

It would be useful to have 3rd party radar apps on CarPlay (unless I missed something). Sirius XM weather via TravelLink is okay but nowhere close in terms of quality and timeliness to what’s available on iPhone and iPads.

I am looking forward to the iOS13 and MacOS updates. Not boring to me.

Are you not familiar with Tile?

Apple needs to drop all these OS version numbers and just go by the year.

MacOS ‘19
iOS ‘19
tvOS ‘19
watchOS ‘19

Much more concise and intuitive.

^Considering the direction they're going in is ARM-based Macs, I don't think they're going to be adopting Threadripper in the meantime...

Threadripper wouldn’t conceivably be used in anything except a Mac Pro. An ARM CPU just wouldn’t cut it, IMO.

Hope the ios app feel clunky and terrible as other ports like home so we go back to having proper apps. Ridiculous

Based on past recent keynotes, I doubt if half of these items will be addressed with the exception of new emojis and wrist bands.

I guess I'll be staying on 10.14.5 as long as possible because I love iTunes the way it is, and one app that I can't do without is Mouseposé, and the developers aren't making the 64 bit update available in the Mac App Store, and they're price gouging with a subscription price structure instead of a simple one time payment (so I refuse to update to the 64 bit version).

I would like a unified icon design for both MacOS and iOS. Why do they look different? For example when I look for the contacts app on iOS I instinctually look for a brown icon, but on iOS its white! Why?

Yeah, sorry, that’s not how this works. Have you ever actually used Find My Friends? Here’s a tip: You don’t have the ability to locate and track them whenever you want (like you can with Find My iPhone and devices you own). People have to agree to share their location. It’s the type of thing you might use when meeting a group of friends at a park or other venue.

This will be the same. You’ll have to agree to use your device for this purpose. It won’t be something that’s active all the time in the background on every single iOS device. I’m not even sure how you could make such a ridiculous assumption based on how iOS currently works.

IOS and OSX are made by the same company, but they are not compatible .
You might as well ask for iOS icons to match Windows 10 .

Since WWDC is primarily a developer event and since Apple rarely introduces new hardware at WWDC and since you appear to be a hardware type, you are right from your point of view only. For the rest of us we are anxious to hear about the software side of things, what the path forward is, what’s new in features and APIs.

Not really just a hardware type, but I do rely on Macs for my business. Dark mode and a new volume HUD are nice, dumping 32 bit apps is a bit of a hassle. Just had to spend $700 just to update ONE app to be ready. Marzipan seems nice, but how the hell are you going to have an interface that works on both desktop and touch? As for being able to use iPads as external monitors...neeto. You can already do that with third party software or just buy a cheap $75 AOC display (and have done).

It's just that nothing seems exciting, just little incremental changes.

I remember when these events were highly inspirational for world class content producing professionals who knew that Apple's premium machines would deliver.

Now it's watchbands, touchbars, animoji, and broken promises from 60 year old execs who don't have the faintest clue about what their customers want and don't want.

One must ponder: is it time to stop “eating” apples, and start a new diet; banana phone, banana tab, banana laptop.

Pretty much any 3rd party app that exists across multiple platforms tries to have consistent iconography. Chrome, Twitter, Facebook, etc icons all DO match between iOS, macOS and yes, even windows 10.

Apple is sorta the lone holdout here, and the fact that it’s not even consistently applied (some match some don’t) to me suggests it’s not ideological; they just no longer believe that type of attention to detail matters.
