Definitely all good and certainly some features that are just shamefully WAY over due, so I cant get excited as such, just annoyed that such simple long desired features have taken literally years to (possibly) arrive to IOS.
I also just CANT get excited just yet, it is typically going to be many months before what ever is announced will be available.
Historically you can almost bet some of the features touted and announced will NOT make it to the final public release.
I welcome all new features though with baited breath

I just want a simple was to opt out of the update for MacOS if we don't want it and not get bugged every few days to update. I have many older 32bit apps which I don't want to loose and can't update.

Also I like iTunes, never really had an issue with it, hope the replacements are worth it.

How about turning the MacBook into an ARM-based powerful laptop running macOS? And a monster Intel screamer of a Mac Pro at the other end?

Find my iPhone using strangers IOS Devices to collocate, that’s creepy. Is that a negotiation with government for a discreet backdoor? Anonymous takeover of all IOS devices to query for a particular device or worse a database that stores IOS devices location history so only particular devices need to be remotely queried in an expanding manner until a hit. Since WiFi or cell signal not required what are they adding NFC or Bluetooth or both?

How about the ability to move contacts into groups in the Contacts app?

Yes! I forgot about this. I always was so annoyed that I had to go to my Mac to do this...

I can't wait to see the price on the Mac Pro. I'm still laughing at the price on the Mimi.

I'm the king at convincing myself to buy stuff that I don't need. That said, I still haven't managed to persuade myself to buy a mini. I could probably stomach the base price... but by the time I get storage up.... Jesus.

An iOS update that brings more flexibility to how files are manipulated and multi window support would be nice.

I have a current 11" iPad Pro, and this device is capable of so much more than the limitations being placed on it by the current incarnation of iOS. I have a current 13" MBP as well, and it's my primary computer but technically, there's nothing the current iPad Pro can't do that I'm currently doing on my MBP.

Unless you're in Excel Hell all day, or doing heavy photo editing, It's become a viable primary device for a large group of end uses, less the limitations placed upon it by iOS. I'm kinda hoping Apple went the bring the hardware up to snuff route before bringing the new software along.

The top of the line iPad's have a twisted ankle. The software.....

Maybe it's me, but I don't really see anything all that exciting outside the possibility of a rumored MacPro.

Since WWDC is primarily a developer event and since Apple rarely introduces new hardware at WWDC and since you appear to be a hardware type, you are right from your point of view only. For the rest of us we are anxious to hear about the software side of things, what the path forward is, what’s new in features and APIs.

Please please Apple, let the phone app not take over the whole screen when a call comes in. Kinda ridiculous that a phone call can interrupt anything and everything! You could be in the middle of shooting a video and a call will stop it in its tracks!

Sorry, not happening, you must stare at our logo and be informed of our greatness every 9 minutes, you feeble consumer!
-tim jobs.

I would love to be siting outside a cafe on sherbrooke ave near rue d'urban or bishop street now sipping cafe au lait and watching the Quebecois striding by right now.
[doublepost=1559394930][/doublepost]funny if they had a montage of users jumping ship to windows like they do in the oscars when stars pass away
my dumb mug would fade in with my expocap on or my cat sleeping on the mbair with the caption: mac user 1992-2019

I’m shocked this isn’t getting more buzz. If this comes to fruition and supports my first gen iPad Pro it’ll be like being handed an incredibly valuable tool for free
I would think it will work on your gen 1 Pro. Both Astropad and Duet worked on mine. I have a 2018 12.9 Pro now and really look forward to this natively.

and what would be really neat if they announced those jumping ship can successfully delete their "iclud" accounts for ever and ever!
I can hear a talking head proclaim: "Since all of our products are now essentially designed for 17 year olds with daddy's credit cards, we hereby proclaim humans can delete their account (s) simple by selecting "yes delete my frigging account" on our websites".
Ah, what joy that would be!

yes yes and more yes, especially for that ipad i'm beginning to detest every lame upgrade.

32-Bit App Support Ending

Apple began issuing warnings about 32-bit apps in macOS Mojave, and has said that Mojave will be the last version of macOS to support them.

Apple is expected to phase out support for 32-bit apps in macOS 10.15, which means some older apps that haven't been updated in a while will cease to work. Aperture, for example, Apple's now-discontinued photo editing software, will not run on macOS after Mojave, nor will any other 32-bit app.

Does this mean that Civilization V will stop working? I *just* upgraded from my 5 year old MBPr so that I could play games better, and that was the primary game I still play on my Mac.
I just recently got an update for Civ V that said it was updated to 64-bit.

do you realize 32-bit apps haven't kept up with security or any other features either? And why do you think that 32-bit apps are good for productivity? Your post is confusing
Sort of a chicken and the egg conundrum. 32-bit hardware is no longer produced, so software and security updates for 32-bit machines has mostly been discontinued, so of course, 32-bit apps haven't kept up with security and features. Hmm. In any case, Apple used to make exceptionally durable hardware, which would often last many years. I have a 32 bit MBP 1,1 which I bought in 2006, that still runs. Apple (and nearly everyone else) stopped supporting 32-bit OS/security/application updates for that machine years ago. It is limping along with one of the few 32-bit Linux distros still available. It would still be moderately productive if it got software updates, but it's almost freaky that a 13 year old laptop still works. 16-bit PDP11 machines, first produced in the early '70s, remained sold and supported by DEC until the early 90s even though the 32-bit Vax11 was concurrently available from 1975 onward. Support dropped around the time DEC got bought out by Compaq in 1998. Now we're mostly in an age of throwaway hardware, not meant to last or be relevant more than 4-5 years. It's no longer reasonable or fiscally feasible to continue supporting older hardware of pre-64 bit design.

A new volume bar is the second biggest feature of iOS?

macOS is dropping support for 32-bit apps and supporting iOS apps, what a wonderful trade

Why does Apple even bother making high performance CPUs when it's obvious they're on a mission to destroy productivity. Do they get some kind of tax break for it?

A re-designed volume hud is a feature o_O:rolleyes: What next circle app icon shapes :p this is a routine tweak of the UI, why even mention it, seems desperate to fill a list.

The drop 32-bit on macOS was a long time coming, iOS made the transition already and the reason I suspect is to have cross compatibility for developers and users when using iOS apps on macOS. Do I agree or disagree with dropping support, not sure I have to see the keynote. Maybe by supporting both 32 and 64-bit it slows the system down not sure will find out soon enough.

Job creation in the USA from federal and state level, all those engineers. Apple is thinking much bigger with its silicone, it’s not to just go into phones, tablets, smart watches and voice activated speakers. Think more wearables, smart home, smart car, robotics, server end, etc. It is a long roadmap along with their battery technology and services portfolio.

Steve did not change the companies designation from Apple “Computers” to Apple “Inc” for fun. There is a valid reason, most people here are only thinking about the past.

I thought I read that there were changes coming for Car Play-hope so since I use it heavily.

As a heavy uses of CP, what changes are you looking for Apple to incorporate. More third party app support, ????

Yes to iPad as a second monitor, especially if incorporates pencil use like a Wacom tablet. This would be a great addition to my photo work on my MBP.

I would think it will work on your gen 1 Pro. Both Astropad and Duet worked on mine. I have a 2018 12.9 Pro now and really look forward to this natively.

My biggest fear is they’ll limit it to USB c iPad Pros citing latency concerns for drawing or something. When they released Siri it was similarly tied to a certain generation of hardware for performance reasons despite 3rd party voice assistants running well-enough on older hardware.

But I’m still holding out a glimmer of hope!

I want to see the Mac Pro - not because I'm going to buy one, I have both a 2018 MBP and a 2018 MB Air (because the MBP keyboard died and i needed a spare, **argg**)

But I need to see what their commitment to their platform is (most likely very little). I'm most likely done buying a mac, all the software I use is available on multiple platforms. They keep destroying what reputation they have left in the computer arena with gimmicks like more emojis and running mobile apps on the desktop, while producing defective designs and refusing to do an upgrade to a computer for 6 years. Give me a break, they are the richest company in the world. THey can afford a couple extra engineers to update a system and produce a new motherboard. All of their competitors have far less money and release 10x as many models every year.
I agree. I wouldn't invest a lot of money now for a product Apple has neglected for six years, even for a compelling new design. I just don't have much faith in overall Apple support for Macs in general. If I'm going to shell out several thousand dollars for a high end desktop, I'd be more inclined to products like this:

https://system76.com/desktops

These folks not only offer great Linux hardware, but offer great support after your purchase. I bought one of their laptops (Oryx Pro) about six months ago, and am very pleased with it and the customer service for both hardware and software needs/queries - strikingly similar to what Apple offered ten years ago.

Regarding the Mac Pro, I’m just afraid Apple will do what they have always done and only offer Xeon processors (pointless for most users) and limit the GPU choice to pro models.

It’s hard enough to accept that they are terminating Aperture, THE killer app that had many people switch to Mac.

I’m cool with the Xeon. Good solid base. But for heavens sake, there are so many GPUs now and future we are missing out on. I’d like to see a Mac Pro with onboard graphics for fallback reliability, but the ability to add on multiple current and then future GPUs.

RE: "Adding Mac support to an existing iOS app will be as simple as checking a checkbox in Xcode."

I seriously doubt it !

I think they ported UIKit to macOS, & that's all.

ALL (or most of) the code underneath the User Interface will need to be macOS-specific.

Still, UIKit support on macOS is a BIG benefit to Devs.

The checkbox in Xcode will get one "the User Interface for their Mac app" ... which is a damn good head start vs coding it up from scratch !
