I might be in the mass minority, but I really really don’t want the magic mouse to change! My hands have evolved and contoured around it since 2009, making holding any other mouse actually borderline painful 😅

Maybe I just don't know what I'm missing, but I love the Magic Mouse. I love the feel of it in my hand. I love scrolling with it, especially left and right scrolling. And I love it for changing Spaces.

Form over function :-\
It's gotta look slick!

God this makes my head hurt ... lol.. kill it with fire.

No charging port at all, it’ll charge wirelessly.
yes, the pad will charge the mouse and be an additional 120$ - it will be called Airpower where you can also lay any device ontop of the pad and it will charge the said devices. Actually - lets say 200$

Got my MX Master 4 a few hours ago, replacing an MX Master 3S (which will move to another machine).

Best change?

No more of that soft-touch coating, which feels great at first but rapidly becomes "sticky", is effectively un-cleanable, and eventually starts coming off. The new micro-textured plastic that replaces it feels good.

Beyond that ...

I prefer the new button for gestures over pressing the thumb rest, though if you have small hands/a short thumb, you're probably going to have to adjust your grip to reach it.

The haptics are interesting; it seems they're the only part that requires the Logitech software after initial setup.

However, the "plug-ins" that let them work with applications require a Logi+ account to download - which is extremely lame (tired of devices that have artificial requirements to have accounts).

And ... at least with the Photoshop plug-in, I can only get one of the haptic features to work ("generative fill complete" - which isn't very useful) and the ones I might find useful (such as "snapped to alignment guide") don't work at all for me - so either something is off or I am not understanding what they're supposed to do.

Not sold on the Action Ring stuff so far - time will tell there.

Daft and cheap that they didn't include a cable - most are a bit stiff to use while charging wherethe one with the 3S was about perfect.

The Logitech software won't be staying if the haptics stuff isn't useful/working properly in very short order.

I love and still use this mouse to this day. Not only is it comfortable, but the ball is essential for my everyday tasks from excel sheets and web browsing, to the timelines in video editing and music production.

The haptics are now all working with Photoshop. I didn't change anything, other than exiting and restarting Photoshop itself. But then it wasn't running when I started, and the plug-ins were showing up, so no idea why that should change anything.

The "notify when aligned" is useful, albeit not something you didn't already get a visual hint for. The "notify on slider limit" only seems to work for adjustment layer settings; if you just do a direct adjustment (rather than as a layer) it doesn't do anything.

And, with a bit more use, I think I would have preferred they leave the "gesture" switch on the thumb rest and put the "action ring" on the new button. BUT, you can swap those around in settings, so we'll see.

To everyone complaining about the ergonomics - do you actually rest your palm on the Logitech? I have an MX3 and the only parts of my hand that touch the mouse are my fingers and thumb … exactly the same as with the Magic Mouse. If I rest my whole palm on the MX3, my fingers hang way off the edge - and my hands aren’t that big. Either people have way smaller hands than me or y’all just love to complain.
The MX Vertical is ergonomically perfect for me.

How well does the MX Master work? Ive heard that apple doesn’t allow thirdparty mice to use thier APIs that make the Magic mouse…Magic. Scrolling isn’t smooth, no bounce scroll, no swiping back with the animation, etc. How bad is it.
The scrolling sucks compared to Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad… but the ergonomics are dramatically better and Logitech’s software actually allows for some interesting gestures (holding buttons and moving the mouse in various directions to invoke certain functions). If the MX Vertical had a touch sensitive surface like the Magic Mouse instead of a scroll wheel, it’d be perfect.

Don't think a new mouse from Apple is going to come any time soon. Other than a different location for the charging port, don't think Apple will change much. Would be great if Magic mouse in different colors could be bought separately. Apple should definitely consider doing that especially when colored cables are available to be purchased separately.

The Magic Mouse is probably the least ergonomically designed product ever. Just absolute trash in terms of user experience design.

Exactly.

The Magic Mouse is an ergonomic disaster - too flat, so it keeps your palm muscles in tension always working...

Of course MM cannot compete with the super Trackpad function or any mouse of the market (precision and fast reaction in any direction), but she was sold with every Mac in a package - lucky mouse :D

Not to mention the position of Lightning socket at the bottom and later USB-C - still on the bottom ! 😂

If they make a good mouse it will be an eschaton level event.

Using a Logitech G305 here and LinearMouse. Unlike the MX Master there is no bluetooth lag and it's not covered in rubber material that goes sticky after a year or so (like the MX Master 3 I had).

It really would take an undeniable design to make me give up my MX Master 3S. Magic Mouse's flat design gave me severe carpal tunnel syndrome and discomfort.
