I expect half the rumors to be from future products, or not even phone products. Like the last time, ten rumors, only bout four were related to that product they released, then the rest fo the new macbook etc. Months later..

We are all (myself included) guilty of ragging on Apple for not continuously pushing the envelope, but the fact is that Apple is *NOT* the same company they were 10 years ago. Back then they were a much smaller company making forward-thinking devices and software for technically driven people. Now they make devices for the masses, which means commodity items that have appeal to most anyone. Those people care about cool apps like facebook/snapchat/etc. and bragging rights. There is no longer a financial incentive to drive innovation.
While I generally agree with this post, I don't think Jobs really needed (or cared about) a financial incentive to push the envelope. He had true passion for pushing technology forward no matter if Apple was already on the leading edge to begin with. This is the biggest difference I've noticed in the Tim Cook era. That passion is absent and now it's alllll about the money.

Well, if the rumors are correct, there's a lot to be excited about-- double the base and max storage, battery life increase, faster charging, increased waterproofing, faster more powerful processor, increased screen resolution, new True Tone color, increased glass strength, new color choices, new low light camera, optical image stabilization, new duo lens system with wow features, new dual speaker system with better sound and volume, new lightning headphone dual control system, new wireless headphone options, etc. And those are just the ones that have supposedly leaked! I am not sure why you can call producing a new phone with all of that and whatever else they will surprise us with " a lemon," but I think 60 or 70 million people will be excited to use the new phone enough to fork over big bucks by Christmas.

Superficial people, which probably makes up a significant group within the Apple world don't give a fig about any of those new features, no matter how good they are (which some are). I'm guessing a lot of those 60-70 million expect next year's iPhone to be called the 7s and look like same...so why not get a design that will look current for the next 2 years? I told someone eager to get an iPhone 7 that it will be replaced by a new, major redesign next year and she looked at me with this confused look. A lot of people are oblivious of next year's iPhone 8 and are stuck in their new every two routine (Tim & Co thanking the Apple gods for that). Many who didn't plan to upgrade so soon will be disappointed next year and make the appropriate brainless comments on social media.

Not very exciting, given that Apple has 12 000 employees in R&D.

Obviously they are not spending their time inventing new cool features, instead they are dealing with support for a wide range of devices on a myriad of languages.

They can't even release a Macbook Pro with a Skylake processor, over a year after Intel released it. How hard can it be to put in a new chip?

Seriously Apple, get your sh*t together or you will be eliminated by the market.

We're just a few days away from Apple's annual fall event, where we expect to see the launch of the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, a second-generation Apple Watch with new bands, and refreshed Beats products.

We may also see the debut of Apple's rumored wireless "AirPods" earbuds, and we'll find out when iOS 10, macOS Sierra, tvOS 10, and watchOS 3 will officially launch. For details on all of Apple's new products culled from the rumors we've heard over the course of the last year, read our below guide on what to expect, but beware -- there are lots of spoilers!

[doublepost=1472858413][/doublepost]Yet another quarter with nothing that matters to me in the least.

Making new phones so great that several hundred million people world wide, let that sink in, have wanted to buy them. And, the iPhone 7, assuming the rumors are correct, will positively reflect upon the 20 Billion they have spent the past couple of years on R and D, and the billions in the years before, with double base storage and double max storage, faster charging, a new faster and more powerful processor, increased battery life, new stronger screen with even sharper resolution and TrueTone color accuracy, Optical Image stabilization, great new low light camera, new duo lens system, better built in speaker sound, new microphone system, new two way lightning headphones, new color choices, etc., plus whatever improvements haven't leaked. And a new operating system for it. And that all in just 12 months on one product. But you are right, it is still a rectangle!

Damn, if Tim Cook and the tens of thousands of engineers at Apple would just stop staring out the window, they might get something done. They will pay the price when only 60 to 70 million people decide they like the new iPhone enough to buy it in the Christmas season and close to 200 million buy it in the first year. I can only imagine your depression then.
yeah! you tell'em ma'a!

Maybe Apple was waiting for Kaby Lake and its native USB 3.1 support which will allow the MBP and MBA to go completely USB-C at reduced cost (no extra component/chip just to add it)?

millions don't care about alot of certain features. They just want a phone that performances great that is smooth to use and easy to sync with their devices. I know both my mom and girlfriend have the 6s but have they ever really bothered with 3D touch? nope. Likely never will really.

What to expect? They'll start out with a circle jerk about how great they are, their sales numbers (excluding tax evasion), and then how they are the global model of being ecologically responsible. "We spray our own crap on the rice we feed the workers at FoxConn. The net around the building to prevent people from hitting the pavement is crafted from 100% recycled uniforms from the employees that flung themselves out the windows before we put the net up. Nothing goes to waste!"

Then they'll get into the apps and all the wonderful developers. At some point Schiller is gonna get on stage with his Levi's screaming for dear life while all 100lbs of his upper groin area test the tensile strength of denim while he tells us what a marvel we're looking at and how it's the best iPhone they've ever made. All while he's peering out over the audience with a look on his face that screams "you should all be on you knees".

Then cue the John Ive video telling us how difficult it was to shove new components into the same old design. How it took 1000 man hours to design just the right screw. "It had to fit perfectly in the "Alou min ee um" chassis".

Still gonna buy the phone though. ;)

Wow. It's like you're trying to right a tell-off with an answer that amounts to "spec bump."

I didnt realize watch 2 was slated to be announced on the 8th. Awesome. I am ready. :)

You mean the 7th? So you are interested in the Apple Watch now? I thought I read you were not interested in one. I think you mentioned your wife doesn't like hers. What are you looking forward to in Gen 2 versus Gen 1?

I'm almost getting used to these lame keynotes now. Not expecting anything exciting next week sadly.

From a guy who owns an iPhone 4 & a MacBook Pro 2011, I'm feeling excited~
This holiday year going to be pretty expensive.
