I have a feeling that we might be in for more than expected. This is Tim Cook after all... Maybe he will decide to update all macs at once? After all he always had a thing for Mac. Also anyone else think that just maybe mountain lion will be ready in June as a surprise as well? The invite has always held me intrigued "the week we've all been waiting for" well ALL must mean more than just iOS in my opinion more like os x and macs.

The date draws ever nearer.

I tend to agree that something big and unexpected is on the horizon. The flurry of leaks we had this week about Macs points to something sweeping, something extraordinary.

This is an important moment for Mr. Cook. The only refresh that has occurred under his watch has been the iPad. I think he will use WWDC to demonstrably prove HE is the new face of Apple. What better way than a massive and unforeseen update of the entire Mac line of computing products? Redesigns, improvements, added capabilities, etc.

None of us really know what is to come, but something's cooking in the kitchen, and it smells delicious!

I think we might get a fairly unexpected update, after all;

I think it's gonna be announced at the wwdc. It's only 3 weeks away.

WWDC for OSX + new desktops/laptops annoucment makes perfect sense to me!

Autumn will be reserved exclusively for iPhone 5 roll-out. And this is #1 selling product and it requires many resources (production lines, transport etc). Also APPLE stuff at retail stores should be trained and so on.
During WWDC Apple should give a preview of iOS and open beta program to make developers/partners ready.

So almost for sure iOS/iPhone 5 combo will not be released very close to next version of OSX, which was already announced and is being beta tested.
I believe that new iMac requires some features existing only in Moutain Lion (support for retina displays, new intel processors).

Other issue is that no apple hardware existing today allows development of "retina" applications for New iPad due to bigger resolution which iPad has.
So announcing laptos/desktop with higher resolution screens which are addressed also to developers of such apps makes sense. They will close this gap.
Personally I would not be surprise also if Apple finally would bring something which will replace out-dated Objective-C and would make development for iOS and OSX easier and more modern.

Can't see this happening, I even cannot see a "retina" display for the iMac this year. This refresh will be the expected / predictable iMac update with no major change to it's current form (why change the design when they've now got the cinema display and iMac lines all in design sync). It will be a nice update but nothing radical......2013 will be the year when a new design and new retina display will be launched for the iMac.

The "leaks" we have seen thus far have not been solid, more supposition and journalists / analysts skimming Apple forums and then representing discussions as if they have some kind of insider take on such matters. I've not seen any images of leaked parts associated with a radical re-design. Also WWDC - not the correct platform for new hardware announcements.

Happy to be proven wrong as it's supposition on my part but have seen this cycle (and indeed partaken in it) every time a new iMac / Apple product is due to be launched and then the multiple posts of disappointment post launch.

Another day and more disappointment. I do hope the 2012 iMac will be more than just a speed bump after this. I still think its a bit early for Retina (unless the delay is going to be until late summer). I would have expected leaks on this if Retina was going to be unveiled at WWDC.
So what could the wait be for? Just ML doesn't seem to make sense. Let's hope it's something really cool.

Dude. Guaranteed nothing happening till minimum 5/22. Recommend putting it out of your mind until then.

A redesign of the iMac to remove the "chin" would make it more in sync with the ACDs.

Man, what is the issue with iMac users and the "chin?" I seriously do not understand the hate people have for a couple inches of aluminum beneath the screen.

tbolt display looks better

I'm with you on this one, never been an issue with me but many seem to see it differently.

It would be great if both displays on the iMac and the atd were at the same height. Apple also likes a seamless integration thru there hardware and software. If both the iMac and atd had the same look and feel it would create a symmetry across the line.

I agree that the iMac would look SLIGHTLY better without the chin, but there are far more important things i'd like to see. Desktop GPU, Retina, 30" or 32" screen, replacing the ODD with a third HDD/SSD, etc.

The chin has been there for almost a decade. I doubt itll go anywhere. Its actually quite useful and necessary for the internal components.

I agree, and they did make the chin a lot smaller in the 27" over the Leno chin that we had with the first iMac G5.

Exactly and if they remove the chin then it's less room for components which equals decreased performance.

Last 2 generationsiMacs were updated after 280 days today is te 380th day after the last... Can it be today? XD
