Macworld article talking about what one feature they want for each OS at WWDC

macOS 15: Dynamic Notch

OK, I’m pretty sure this one isn’t going to happen, but I’d really really like it to. On our iPhones, the Dynamic Island is a great way to quickly see things happening in the background—on our MacBooks, a Dynamic Notch would be an awesome way to multitask on our MacBooks.
It would work largely the same way—apps that are doing something in the background would populate the notch, with small interactive screens descending when clicked. It would take some getting used to and obviously need tremendous developer support, but hey if someone at Apple thought Stage Manager was a good idea, surely this could work. —Michael Simon
A bit far fetched but interesting thought.

And load on the battery as well.
Its shouldn't any more then if you disable the degree of notifications you prefer vis system settings. This article describes a lot off AI used in phones these days and yes Apple has been using AI for some of these examples already.
Such as Improved Photo and Video Quality for built in cameras, Facial Recognition, Speech Recognition, Battery Optimization, and Language Translation.

Some of what mentioned in the linked article above is also applicable to Mac usage not just iPhone centric. Apple IMHO is not into generative AI against text, imagery, videos, and data manipulation. They are more into AI based personal assistants. Some of the applications will have that also to make it easier to manipulate content, but not artificially create content like google is doing.

I expect they'll probably drop support for the 2018 macbook pro I use for work. It's gonna suck trying to get them to buy me another mac lol.

AI-generated Apple Music playlists.
Lol.

Apple Music on macOS is missing so many features (doesn’t even have Sing). Navigation sucks and is so buggy. Good luck getting anything from this app. The only reason I use Spotify is because I spend most of my time on macOS rather than iOS and Spotify simply works.

Sadly most core macOS media apps suck. Music is rubbish on so many levels that I don't even have to time to explain. Books refuses to remember that I'm not interested in reading goals. Podcasts takes about an hour to refresh from iCloud and, inexplicably, uses a grotesque blue-shifted magenta highlight colour that burns rectangular slots into my retinas. If Crapple put as much effort into these apps as it did obliterating System Settings then we might get somewhere.

Yep. 'AI' is the marketing term used to seduce people into clamouring for even more data-mining and clandestine surveillance. And apparently it's working. Like turkeys voting for Christmas. Full Orwell.

I don’t see any need for AI in my life. I despise data mining ala FB and loathe ads (so much so I’m getting a Pi-hole).

BUT I don’t have anything against “profiling” or data collection per se. It’s only if it’s used to market something to me or to sell my data to others. If Apple gives me the rights to my own data, they can’t use it or sell it but it’s to my benefit only. Sure, why not? Oh and that I have the right to sue the, if they “loose” my data in a breach.

Most would say generative AI is a nuisance. One doesn't need to have text conversations with something trying to learn your preferences. Neither do you need graphics, videos and music created by describing some text that can create inaccurate answers to your request. There are two ways Apple should utilize AI IMHO, the first as a hidden digital assistant that somewhat automates a process you like to do or use to create or modify content, second as a Siri like digital assistant that understands longer text and allows your speech to perform more complex tasks that you normally have to do several steps to get to the results. Beyond that people still need to think and not use AI to be lazy and stop learning.

Hmm, thought provoking. I'm not a user of Apple Music, Keynote, Pages, or Freeform. I'll upgrade of course, but will wait for a couple of point revisions unless the AI features turn out to be more impressive than outlined here.
Just don‘t fall for marketing material, try them out yourself if possible. For example the „bring two phones close together to share contacts“ feature looks so cool in the promo video but is annoying in real life.

Or like there is a trend amongst central banks to brag about their "transparency" which is an obvious attempt to divert responsibility. Central banks give people all the info for the informed decision making so it is up to the people to make the right choices. "AI" is also a very convenient instrument in order to avoid responsibility.

Try it. Does it work for you?
Yes, it does. Here’s an example from my MacBook Air:
Yes, it does. This is the image I already added to the post you’ve quoted (I took it from my MacBook yesterday — as you can see, the conversion data comes from Yahoo):

I disagree, HackMacDaddy. Both my wife and I have used the contact swap feature recently and it was effortless and, to be honest, a little bit cool. It seriously impressed the other iPhone users who had no idea this was available! 😄🤣🙃

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I don’t currently see a need for a type of AI that requires me prompting it for something, like we see everywhere now. I will probably use a type of AI that saves me time or lessens workload, in the background.

Say, AI that tags my photos CORRECTLY.

But then it’s a function of something I’m already using, not the function itself.

My wife appears to like AI. She just ask a (written) question, and let the AI bot tell her the info and give a report too. The AI bot gives variants too. Sure, she is using Windows, MS Edge.
I'm not sure if I'd want AI to tell me everything, it thinks as the info I need. Being a human, the need might change quite fast, so the AI bot won't be able to keep up with it. Anyway, it takes the joy of searching...

Doesn't work with the Calculator. There's no drop down menu, no idea why. Never tried that before, anyway. But works quite well with Safari, don't even have to click on the return button.

I agree it‘s very cool the first time. But for some reason everytime I‘m holding my phone close to my wifes (to show a photo or compare something) or a family members (we have one place where all phones get charged) they all get crazy and want to share contacts all over the place. I had to disable it

…which you then have to check carefully in case the LLM has generated nonsense. Which you can’t be sure of unless you already knew the answer to the question. The development of LLMs and other “machine learning” technologies is fascinating and undoubtedly has implications for the future, and may even already be useful in carefully controlled circumstances - but calling it “AI” and bundling it into every product under the sun is marketing-driven idiocy. I guess it’s this decade’s “blockchain”.
