macOS Vista were a good Californian landmark, Spanish sounding as it should, for the next version, isn't it?
;)
Microsoft's second worst OS, that would be tempting fate way too much.

(Those of you who were very young may not remember Windows ME. Few people want to.)

F-14 or F-18 for the Desktop?
My first model aircraft was the F-4 Phantom II (Airfix — USS Forrestal option). To a young boy in the sixties it was the coolest thing on planet earth!
That would make an amazing desktop image!

I would love to see actual OS updating, this is hardly "OS" stuff when it is several app upgrades. Yes iTunes tends to be insidious throughout the OS but it is just an app, as are Xcode, keynote and pages. I hate that some huge conference where thousands of people go to see the next great thing, and we get some version updates for a few apps and they call it a new "OS". I realize there aren't a lot of things to change that wouldn't be change for change's sake, but these are barely worthy of a press-release. Adding generative text to pages and/or keynote may or may not be a major app upgrade (seems small, but what do I know) but hardly worthy of a full tick of the OS number. Maybe some improvement in browser security, especially given the new identified flaw in the apple security chips which kicks the can down the road to the app level to secure the leak. Maybe a better find in the finder (has sherlock updated in decades? It's certainly gotten slower, despite drives getting faster... And less helpful that the only way to see where a file lives (because you might not want to just open it!) is to view them all in a giant pile and then search again in the list to see it's location. Ugh. Like why can't I right click and just say view in finder? Maybe some improvements to window management? And by that I do NOT mean more transparent crap, reducing readability and why on earth I want to see the app behind my text giving everything a bizarre tint is beyond me. Also can we please get autocorrect that doesn't suck (apologies to Bare Bones). I mean not only does it often pick the wrong substitute I frequently get it correcting to something that is not actually a real word (thanks for correcting my gibberish to other gibberish - There are no English words where a capital U with an umlaut is on top standing alone. ever!) Like it confuses the strong password generator and autocorrect... But I suspect more emojis will be what we get instead!

Yes, it does. Here’s an example from my MacBook Air:
Yes, it does. This is the image I already added to the post you’ve quoted (I took it from my MacBook yesterday — as you can see, the conversion data comes from Yahoo):
I wonder if it’s somehow geo blocked. I’ve tried it on a dozen computers (different owners and OS), and it’s not working here. Menus are inactive.

Sonoma works very well on my i9 2019 16”. In fact it also runs very well on my 2014 iMac via OCLP
Interesting. I have the same model and had massive bugs. On the desktop, moving any icon would cause them to snap to the top right corner when "snap to grid" was on. It made using the Desktop impossible. The bug would always return each time I switched from one GPU to the other. Also had weird red screen flashes with the discreet GPU, and DaVinci Resolve freezing so badly that the computer would restart spontaneously or make me have to do a hard reboot on a daily basis.

Had to format and reinstall Ventura, which wasn't fun but at least I can use it now.

Holy cow, I never knew that whole menu was there!
Siri 1.0 will do that also. Like $20 Canadian into US Dollars will give you same results rounded to cents. Its also using Yahoo currency data for close of last weeks market as the calculator convert menu. That avoids all the choices for different currencies listed in pull down.

i had the same result until i selected a different option to 'currency' - converted it, then went back to 'currency' and it works fine …

Apple has sort of lost its original path, but what I really want is AI that's useful without being overbearing. For example, it would be awesome to have an AI where I could say in regular language what I want my phone to do, and have that work correctly. The last word in the previous sentence is key, though. I just asked Siri when Barnes and Noble closes, and she confidently told me the non-holiday closing time for a store five states away.

You should understand that the very purpose of a new macOS version is to support the new hardware the Apple wants to sell to you and the second purpose is to kick off the game the users of older hardware that Apple does not want they continue using.
The "more emojis" are just a marketing cherry on the top of the cake.

Also, when will we be able to read from Bitlocker encrypted drives? We can already do this from Linux, what's the reason we cannot unlock drives from Mac?
Oh, I just remembered couple more:

Where’s the volume mixer? Why is this so hard to implement?

Why we cannot disable or at least schedule Spotlight indexing? It decides to perform indexing whenever it feels like, and sometimes this is in middle of when you work on stuff and it’s taking precious CPU resources from what matters the most.
