Full screen oled wasn't really a thing in the market until the iPhone X. Underscreen fingerprint scanner is by no means a Samsung idea and it's not happening on the iPhones anyway. You literally just said that Apple copies from Samsung because you think it will and have no argument whatsoever.

I can't think of a single design element that Apple copied from Samsung actually. Curved edges? No. Punch hole camera? No. Shrinking top and bottom bezels? No, Apple removed them completely. Camera layout? Absolutely no, even further proved by these rumours.

The 7 and 8 are better in every single way.
sorry should've said android instead of samsung,

here is bunch of elements that might help you out if you can't think of any o_O

http://www.iphonehacks.com/2017/11/...e-shamelessly-copied-from-android-phones.html

I'll get over the ugly camera bump as long as the phone isn't as heavy as the current models. I'm still on the iPhone 7 plus, and a few friends have the newest version, and man, they are heavy!

Just chiming in to say how pathetically predictable the comments are.

Oh you noticed that camera, huh? How clever of you. It couldn't possible be that every single photo is a direct shot of the camera and all they want you to talk about is the camera. Couldn't possibly.

Why no pics of the front, considering that is what you will look at 100% of the time? Oh that's right, because it is unchanged, and wouldn't generate any clicks, or any arguments.

Tech rags like this one are pathetic.
Maybe because the front is exactly the same as the current phones visually that is...

And you know the price of these and cost per unit? Stainless isn't that expensive, facetime ID is in its second year so I imagine will be cheaper to produce now

Exactly these premium hardware components aren’t found in any android flagship.

No 3d facial recognition, no stainless steel chassis, no nvme based storage, no 8 core npu. Etc etc.

I can think of 8 android phones that support HDR10 the Galaxy S10 supports Dolby Vision along with a few others so nothing special there.

8 android phones that are Dolby vision and hdr10+ I’m shocked. In fact I don’t believe you.

the s10 is not Dolby vision capable, Samsung cheaped out.

Thanks for making my point for me .

So I think the "are all premium hardware components not found on android flagships" isn't entirely true. Always helps to do some research first.

https://3g.co.uk/guides/hdr-mobile

Your not making much sense there. Android flagships are missing premium hardware only found on apple iPhones. Didn’t mean to burst your bubble.

You might need to do “some research first”.

You can start with the difference between Dolby vision and hdr10/10+ .

There you are https://www.dolby.com/us/en/categories/smartphone.html see lots of Dolby vision and HDR10 devices avilable which are Android phones. Oh the Samsung supports Dolby Atmos and HDR10+ and the The kirin 970 has a NPU, also android.. https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/hisilicon/kirin/970

The cameras actually don't look that bad....

But they need to be body-colored. Not just a black square as shown in those images...

Hahahahaha.

Your funny, you keep proving my point for me.

You realize you just proved my point again that the s10 isn’t capable of Dolby vision.

The iPhone is capable of Dolby vision and hdr10+ which is a premium feature.

I see you keep ignoring the other premium hardware components I mentioned such as an 8 core npu stainless steel frame or an nvme based ssd, you were wrong it happens.

Thats why I said hdr10+ not Dolby Vision  I do see Dolby Atmos as a premium feature though. I also mentioned the NPU in the Kirin 970 link. As to stainless steel its just stainless steel I have cutlery made of it, not exactly premium... Also you seem to be avoiding the Android phones that are capable of Dolby Vision.

That’s not what you said, you said the s10 has Dolby vision. No need to be dishonest.

Kirin doesn’t have an 8core npu it has an inferior npu compared to apple a12.
Actually stainless steel is premium over aluminum and plastic.
Any android phones with nvme based storage, no, guess not.

This is a bad take. If the rumors are true, then the back -- not the front -- is where the design changes are occurring. For that reason and because this particular design change is both significant and controversial, it makes sense that readers would want to see pictures of that, rather than of a front shot that looks near-identical to what they probably already have. In addition, there has been a fair amount of commentary on the rumored non-changes to the front -- particularly the fact that the notch is rumored to still exist and that there are some rumors that it may be slightly smaller. If you want to comment on those aspects, you're more than welcome to do so.

Eh, looking at what we're likely getting I think I'm probably going to hold onto my 8 for a third year, see what the 2020 phones shape up to be...

All I’m reading from every news source is that people should wait for the 2020 iPhones for a bigger change. The 2019 iPhones have not even launched and already sales are going to suffer because people want a different design.

What’s the focal length of this third lens? The wide lens on the XS is 26mm (equivalent) which is pretty wide for photography, so what’s the purpose of an even wider lens? Is it for video? Or AR?

I got the Dolby Vision part wrong, hey hands up to that, but premium is subjective as well. I mean if it was stunning I would notice it more maybe on my Xs. Now on my Sony OLED yes HDR10 and Dolby Vision look great but thats because its much brighter, although not as bright as say a Samsung Qled but the contrast ratio for myself wins hands down, but that's subjective again.

Android phones have Dolby vision and Atmos and a NPU, it does not matter how many cores it has, and its a damn good one too. The point was you said no Android phones have these features and yes they do some have some of those features even though most phone users would not even know. One thing though is the intel modem in our phones, that isn't premium is it, and nor is this emoji

Nobody cares about the stupid camera layout on a phone. If sales are suffering it’s because what people already have is good enough.

They are going to be body colored. These are fakes.
So boring this year. I’m tempted to stick with my Xs

Why do you need a new phone?

Why do you need a new phone?

Well, for one I have a crack across my home button and I don't really want to spend money to fix it because it's a 2 year old phone.

Also, just generally I'd prefer a bigger screen, and I'd *really* like a move to USB-C. I'm hoping that a new macbook/air/pro keyboard and a phone with USB-C next year will let me upgrade both my personal laptop (which I've been mulling replacing this year, it's a '12 mba, but probably will wait one more year to see about keyboards) and phone and bring all my devices, personal and work, into sync cables wise.

Anyone feel like showing up out front of the launch to protest against these hideous designs that keep coming? It’s about time something like that happens.
uhh. just don't buy it. protest with your wallet -- the surest path to change in a capitalist economy.

Wrong. These changes are meaningless and effect absolutely no one. You only care because you're told to care.

I mean, people do actually care though, which is pretty obvious just from reading this thread.... Also from the fact that people buy the phones....

Premium, ShPremium... such meaningless adjective (used also in-here as a noun).
Mate, news at BBCWorldRadio:
"The only iPhone premium that really matters to Apple is the profit margin imposed on the acolytes by Tim Cook and friends."

[I enjoy Apple mobile devices for their daily utility. Couldn't care less for those premium components you dwell on as they do not add in aggregate (for me) the functionality and utility of my MBP, yet soon enough, they will be priced the same as a mid-range MBP.]
