It is not able “storaging” but rendering. One project can take up a lot of space, depending on how long your time frame your video is and how many shots you have.

Apple understood the need for 8TB of on-board storage. They listened to the Pros. 4TB and up are for Pros who can afford paying the costs, not you-tubers or general public usage.
For me it would be nice because I have large family videos and photos, as I think most people do with kids these days. And it would be nice to have the full res files downloaded if I ever wanted to view them. I knows. It’s excessive but it would be nice to not have to reach for the external when ever I wanted to watch a clip.

Dang :( I'm sorry to hear it pal. That really sucks. It's always the hard working lower and middle class that suffers eh? The backbone of society and we're the ones left to pick up the pieces when it falls apart.

Referring back to your previous post, 8TB standard would be amazing. I mean, that's just absurd but I love it. I'm a little bit of a data hoarder myself. You know what looks like a lot of fun? Setting up a NAS at home. Have you ever looked into one?
Thanks and yeah regarding the nas as I’d like to be able to ditch cloud service as I’ve been reading up on it but I’ve never really seen any videos that show off the Wi-Fi speeds. They always seem to just show off the i gigabit Ethernet speeds.

There’s hardly any good videos on you tube that show it off as well.

I had one of the early TC models which was cool but very slow over Wi-Fi.

So why is Canada the only place the new model was registered? If there is a WiFi6E coming to US, shouldn't it be registered with FCC too?

There are many scenarios where faster Wi-Fi can be used like Pro-photographers uploading a thousand photos from a shoot to the cloud. These are pro, not general purpose, computers.
I didn't say that no one would use it. Obviously there are very niche uses for such high speed. I made a point of objecting to the notion that "most people" would benefit from it. They won't. WiFi 6E hardware is still very pricey and "most people" don't have it nor need it.

I thought for sure we would be looking at updates once every two years... Is it worth the upgrade from the Oct 2021 MBPs? Still runs decent, but 6E is attractive. Thoughts?
The answer to that is always going to be no. It's generally never worth upgrading one gen in tech these days. The only time it would even remotely be worth it is if you use the laptop to make money and it's actually faster enough to be earn back the cost in a short period. These are going to be a fairly minor bump and unless there is some new feature that wildly accelerates what you do it just won't be worth it.

TL;DR: case in point:
  • if you bought the 2019 Intel MacBook Pro, then it would've made sense to spend the cash again the next year and get the 2020 M1 MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, just from a pure battery savings and performance perspectives.

do you frequent many places that have 6E and the bandwidth and purpose to use it?

i can tell there won't be any WOW big redesign factors of the products anymore until Tim Apple retires

I hope they can move a port around or something so I can identify the MacBook just by looking at it.

I have been able to tell a difference from every Apple Silicon MacBook, so Tim, don't change this :)

I agree with the sentiment, however the current MacBook Pro redesign is exactly what it should have been throughout the entire Touch Bar era. They nailed it. That’s certainly something great that came from the Tim Cook era.

It’s just that these “wow” moments come at a glacial pace now. Apple can do amazing things. They just… don’t. Not often, anyway.

I expect no legacy ports, thinner MacBook Pro, new keyboard that doesn't look cheap, no SD card reader and the option to get the Touch Bar.

HELL TO THE F*K YESSSS.

I bought the M1 Pro MBP16 like 3 days ago (knowing an update might be coming soon, all good).
Return that one tomorrow and pick myself up a beefed up m2 instead.

Come at me free performance :D

I'm not so sure what the excitement is about the M2 14" and 16" MBP. It's just a minor spec bump.

The M1 14" and 16" MBP was a much better update.
Which “excitement” are you talking about?
