Original iPod shuffle. 512Mb. Still got it, still works.

Original iPod nano. White. Got replaced with a newer model years later under recall issue for battery.

Original iPod touch. Whatever the base spec one was. Absolutely gorgeous device.

Original iPhone. Worked for many years after I replaced it with the 3G. Gave it away a while ago.

Since then - iPad, iPad mini, iPhone 4 / 5 / 5S.

ipod touch was my first apple device, but my first smartphone is the iphone 6+, couldn't be happier!

iPhone 1st gen.
I had recently bought/invested in the Mac Pro tower and was very pleased with how it worked.
I had actually not had a mobile phone for a bit after having been on the 3G fad back then.

a friend of mine was going to the states and wanted to buy a few iPhones 8 GB I think it was (not the smallest, and I think there was a 4 GB)
as he saw me as someone who knew computers and programming, he offered me one for free if I unlocked 2 other ones. so there we go...we had iPhones in EU only shortly after it's release in the states.
but I remember it was troublesome with upgrades I had bricked them several times.
when the 3GS came around I bought it as it was and it was sim-lock free and thats how they should be :)

What was your 1st iDevice?

iPod Classic. 160GB Black. Got it in 2010, right after my first Mac.

iPod classic. 1st generation. I was hooked not long after that. Bought my first Mac. Then nothing until the original iPhone came out. Bought it that summer, then for Christmas, I picked up a Macbook. A few years latter, an iMac and iPad.

He will probably fall in love with the surface pro, assuming it's the second gen or later. It's a solid device and a great marriage between a laptop and a tablet computer. It's really the only system I feel windows 8.1 should even be allowed on.

It will certainly be interesting. He's an almost 60 year old CPA who does a lot of work with spread sheets. At least he already has a wireless keyboard he can connect if he hates the Surface one. I would hope they would invest in Surface Pro 3's at least, but they could get 2's. It sounds like they want most employees to switch.

iPod Touch 2G. My last iDevice was an iPod Touch 4G. Now that's changed with the iPhone 6 I got a few days ago.

iPhone 3GS was the first to start me down the path. How have iPhone 6, iPhone 5, two iPad Air's, four Apple TV's, Macbook Air and 27" iMac. Boy that was one expensive phone;)

Original iPod on launch day. I was the only person with an iPod that I knew for about 8 months. It was a solid six before I even saw anyone else with one.

Very first Apple device was Christmas 2004, silver iPod mini first gen.

LOVED it til I lost it at some point, then picked up a black 30 GB iPod video and couldn't kill it no matter what.

Eventually got nostalgic and bought a sealed box silver iPod mini 2nd generation 6 GB in 2010, opened and enjoyed it, then sold it here on the forums (regrettably) a couple years back when streamlining my collection.

The mini had an amazing form factor, but the screen made it tough to use realistically after years of the iPod classic and iPhone screens which is probably a large reason why I decided to part with it.

EDIT: Trying to remember my iPod history

iPhone 4 was my first Apple device, bought in 2010. Since then I've owned, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s and now iPhone 6.

Have also owned iPad 3, iPad mini (1st gen) and now using iPad mini (2nd gen).

Also own a late 2012 iMac and intend on purchasing an Apple Watch when released.

My first device was a Sony Ericsson p800, running in Symbian OS, then I went to Palm Treos for a while, the Treo 600, 650 (befor that I used Palm Pilots stand alone and handspring Visors), then moved to blackberries and finally one of those years got the iPhone 3GS.

My very first iDevice was the iPod Shuffle. I had it for about a year, until someone stole it while I was at school. Miss that thing, but it had a short in it anyway so whoever had it was out of luck.

Ibook

My first one was the Ibook key lime with the toilet seat design, that computer was bad-ass!

iPod nano 1st Gen. Had it for 3 or 4 months and loved it, but someone broke into my car and stole it one day when I left it in the car. I always wanted an iPod and this was the first one I could afford.

Got an iPod shuffle 1st Gen that summer to replace it and held onto it with my life.
