I want to disagree but it's hard to deny. Just threw together a Dell XPS 1530 fully loaded and it is pretty competitive. I can't deny it's very tempting. If only it had a backlit keyboard (NOTE: Go to software and accessories to remove some stuff like spyware and whatnot).

Ok nevermind on that. I had a weak moment I'll admit, so I ran over to Best Buy just to get a hands on feel and yikes. I realized again why I love Macs so much. Build quality/quality of materials.

Dells, Sonys, even *gasp* HPs, all feel like crap. I was totally surprised by the Gateways, which don't even have a latch! They just kind of shut...

I'd buy a refurb'd MBP before I'd ever go near those things.

Did you actually feel/use an XPS? I you have the point I make is null, but they are some very fine laptops.

Okay I broke down and bought a MBP tonight because I needed it 4 weeks ago when my macbook took a jump and cracked the screen and messed up the superdrive. so i sold it on ebay for like 250bucks. Ive been waiting and getting up early on tuesdays to see if anything..... soo i was like what the heck go ahead and buy it because i need one for my job and my digital photography. If it is updated next tuesday I will send it back because it wont arrive till then anyways..... was this a smart purchase or stupid? HELP!! I have anxiety about it and dont know if I can sleep until I feel comfortable with my decision.

I went to this website and left it promptly due to cheezy music overload. I'd look but never touch for fear I would leave cheezy fingerprints on anything else I touched directly afterward. O.K. specs though; it's just not a mac. The wait will continue.
