What would cause you to leave iPhone for Android

This is a huge one. The Apple Store is something the others can't touch.
Well Samsung has a couple of stores in my city. It seems to be like an Apple Store as far as demo products go but I don't know if they have a "genius bar" equivalent. And if they do, the most important part of the genius bar is the big stockpile of every type of size/capacity/generation/color Phone and iPad stored in the back.

I switch to Android every year or two mainly because I just get bored with iOS but this may be my last time for a while. I'm currently on a note 7 but I get frustrated every day by the lag on this phone. It's just ridiculous. I do believe Android is more versatile in some aspects but the smoothness and app quality is much better on iOS. Once Apple gets those Amoled screens I will be extremely happy. Cant wait for my 7+ to get here.

At this point I can't see myself leaving Apple. I even tried an S7 edge out alongside my 6S plus for a month. I ended up selling the edge and the 7 plus is pre-ordered. I have too many apple products now and I'm too invested in the ecosystem to move to an android phone. Back in 2012 I went over to android after my iPhone 4 was stolen. Back then it was just a phone so switching wasn't a big deal. Now it's an ecosystem.
While also invested in the Apple ecosystem, I still would never switch. I love the way Apple treats it's customers, not to mention their stance on privacy. Too many other reasons not to switch. My 7Plus is also on order!

Nothing really I have both androids and even windows phone but **** I tell you... My girls got dem iPhone so imessage? and FaceTime does comes in clutch... I realized that two things were so much help so I ditch android in less than a week. And when back to iPhone. ( story from iPhone and s3) launch. I wanted to try different so bought s3 in plan and then I bought iPhone 5 to replace it since android sucked.

I started off with Android and an iPod. (iphones weren't on verizon and the storage was too small to hold my music). Always loved my iPod, so once I could get an iPhone with enough storage and only carry one device I was ecstatic. Along the years I acquired a macbook pro, ipad and now an apple tv. It's not that I think one is better than the other, I'm just invested and all my devices play great together. So until apple does something to cause everyday to become a frustrating user experience, apple it is for me. Also, majority of my family and friends are on iPhones so you get those benefits as well.

Now? Absolutely NOTHING.

3 years ago, I made the switch due to the iPhone still only having a 4 inch screen. and iOS feeling a little "stale". Bought a Note 3. Loved it for about a month. Total barnyard explosion of a disaster for 5 months after that. Won't make that mistake again.

Switched back to the 5C for a couple months and then got a 6+. Problem solved.

Right now? Nothing. But that doesn't mean something down the road will drive my move to Android (which seems extremely unlikely anyway).

I actually did. I've been an iPhone user for years, but the Note 7 was really appealing to me: I loved that it's waterproof, the stylus is great (I don't use it all the time, but it's nice every now and again), and it came with a 256gig microSD card. Unfortunately, Android is frustrating and my phone also blows up. I'm coming back with the iPhone 7 this Friday. It was IMPOSSIBLE to leave iMessage. It's such a pain to be the one in the group who screws up the group iMessage and it just seems wonky; messages get sent out of order, and some don't get received at all. I even changed my number and it still wasn't a perfect fix.

When Apple stops making iPhones.
I did have a break after the iPhone 5 as I decided my next iPhone should have 2GB RAM. And then I'm back with the 6S.

Seriously, why do people think they can only be with one platform? There are great Android phones for $200-$300, or even less, and they are great to have as a secondary or tertiary phone. I have iPhones and Android phones. Why? So I can have a more informed opinion when discussing either platforms (and Apple doesn't make dual-SIM iPhones).

About iCloud, I cannot believe that people think the 99cents a month for 50GB is too expensive. How much do people pay for Starbucks? Do the math. The 99cents a month for 50GB iCloud tier is a no-brainer.

I keep an eye on Android just in case but when I research into it or trial a device it's just never as fluid or smooth as iOS. It seems Apple would have to either do something horrendously wrong or go bust for me to switch now.

I can put up with no headphone jack. There's very little that Apple can do on their design to switch to Android except one, and that's eliminating the physical connection for charging and data. I could see Apple going to a totally wireless setup, where you would have to use iCloud to backup or restore your phone. Thanks but no thanks, I'm not about ready to fork more money over to Apple for a 50 or 200 GB data plan.

But surely you could just use your PC connect it wireless?

I switch between both each year. JOD is amazing.

It's Xmas 3 times per year. Well, 4 if you count actual Christmas ;)

And the icing on the cake of JOD (and maybe other lease programs)...is that you're eligible for the promo gifts as well. In the past six months alone...I've got a Gear VR, year of Netflix and a Gear Fit2...all for free :)

It's a win win.

I usually switch from the iPhone to an Android device when I get bored of iOS, then I switch back a couple years later when I'm tired of the choppy Android experience. Been on a Nexus 5 for the last three years, and it was fun for the first 6-12 months, but now it's almost unusable how slow it is and how fast the battery drains. The camera also sucks. Really looking forward to the 7 Plus.

What caused me to switch (or go back to Android rather, had an iPhone for about a year and loved it) was a video I saw that went over the top new features of iOS 10. The first few features listed were things like "slightly bolder font for Folders" and "a bit more springy animation when opening ...". Thought it was an insult to iOS users. It was the stupidest, random sh*t. Was SO looking forward to some new fresh features especially if the new iPhone 7 is going to be so underwhelming.

I love how well the OS is designed visually, the consistency, the clean minimal everything. Definitely appreciate this stuff. But it feels like Apple's design development team are all on long term vacation and the OS is so stale that it is painful.

I moved to a Note 7 due to headphone jack. Usb c I would have been more okay with but proprietary connectors etc I'm not OK with.

Honestly nothing, I'm so deep in the apple ecosystem that an android device just do ant make sense....and I just live apple <3

If I had some sort of mental episode, totally reversed my entire personality/care about quality and decided to waste the years of money, time and data I've poured into the Apple ecosystem.

That said, I own a Nvidia SHIELD Portable which runs Android...so maybe I've already gone mad!

Apple opening their ecosystem so it is cross platform. I am too dependent on iMessage ...

You had me right there. I went to a pure Google phone a few years back, loved it. The fact that it doesn't have iMessage brought me back. 99% of the people I interact with in messages are on iPhone if you are in a group message on Android FORGET it, messages come out of order, broken up, etc.

So, if iMessage became the de facto message platform across platforms than I'd switch. Although, now I'm hooked on Portrait mode.
