I don't understand how someone can hate kids when they were themselves one at one point.

Why not? The way many kids are raised in the U.S. today, with very little discipline or manners, it's no wonder. Just wait until these spoiled brats grow up to be dysfunctional adults.

i just plain, flat out, DO NOT LIKE CHILDREN. QUOTE]

Man, I would hate to be your neighbor. You'd probably be mad if one of my kids accidently stepped on your lawn while learning how to ride a bike. You would then accuse me of not watching my kid(s) close enought because he had to step off his bike and his foot landed on your grass. I would probably have to apologize to you if you hear one of them cry after scraping their knee while learning to walk for the first time outside.

Hopefully you live in a secluded area w/o any kids that would bother you. Mercy to those kids if they made you drop your iPhone.

no.. i hate kids INSIDE my house poking my pets and talking back and all that. The smart mouths on kids never ceases to amaze me!!

we dont have many kids in our neighborhood, but i did say that if some kids moved into thehouse right next to mine, i would put up a fence..

Like i said, i dont yell or scream at them, i try to be nice and not rude, they are people too.. i just dont like them and have NO PATIENTS for them,

and yes, MERCY TO A KID THAT MAKES ME DROP MY PHONE - unless it was truely an accident and we just bumped into each other.. I just think kids are too nutty and parents are TOO forgiving. so screw them all ,

"Unless it was truely an accident...." Unless that kid yelled out and said, 'here I come, I will crush your iPhone'...it is a true accident.

I understand you're a Kid Hater...no doubt there, you are very clear of that. But a person like you would have zero sympathy in a kid related accident. No matter what the circumstance is, that kid and his too forgiving parents are at fault. For your iPhone's safety, do not go out in public where there are kids. That's the only way to ensure nobody screws you.

Wow..."...so screw them all"

Actually, i always finished my veggies. AS a kid, if i was acting up in a restuarant, my parents would get my a bowl of steamed veggies to quiet me.. but thats nother story

I KNOW all kids act up, its part of being a kid, but there IS a time and a place and i feel like parents, lately, have been taking the LAZIEST approach to parenting. I'd say about 75% of the parents i see LET their kids do this stuff. its one things for kids to start up acting wild, but to act like its not happening is the MOST frustrating thing and its ALL the parents fault.

with that being said, I dont hate kids because they "act up" in public places, i just plain, flat out, DO NOT LIKE CHILDREN. even the best behaved children are pains int he butts, and i wouldnt even want to deal with my own, let alone a stranger's kids who are running wild

I dont like them in my house, i dont like talking to them, and i plain dont really like them.. I can TOLLERATE them, but that does not mean i LIKE them. I am nice to them and try not to be rude or mean, but i still dont LIKE them..

After reading your posts, I really 'hate' your guts. I bet if a kid was injured, you wouldn't go to help. You'll be laughing silently..

You'll probably end up growing up to be a sad lonely person...

This thread is definitely strange. Kids have there moments of being unruly, sure, but overall, kids can enrich ones life. There is nothing like seeing your child smile at something, laugh out loud, ask tons of questions and enjoy learning. Kids are, in my opinion, all innocent and are not malicious.

But some people do lack patience, I used to be one of those people.

That's a little rash... Just because someone doesn't like kids, doesn't mean they wouldn't help one if they needed help.

I don't like Windows, but when someone has a problem with it, I fix it :p (I know it's not the same)

I was going to say that's why I avoid places with children (VIP movies - There are certain showing here in my area where only adults are allowed to go -- and no not porn -- I went to see the Dark Knight in such a showing, adult only gyms, bars)

but you are more likely to have your phone knocked down in a bar by a drunk guy/girl who isn't watching what they are doing then a child running into you at a super market.

where do you guys eat that there are kids running around playing tag?

I don't have anything AGAINST kids per say ... They just make me uneasy -- there hands are always sticky with jam, even when there is no jam anywhere to be found. And girls always get that "I want one" look on their faces when they see them. They are like Kryptonite to a young guy.

Since it's a hypothetical question... here's a hypothetical answer:

run the kids, by accident, onto the ground face 1st....

accidents happen. call to their attention what they did as a result of their behavior. if their parents are present, i would tell them same thing, all in a calm manner. tell them to be careful in the future and move on.

yes, if i saw an injured 4 year old, bleeding to death in the street, i would just kick hiim in the teeth and go ahead on my business because anyone who doesn't like kids also would LOVE to see one suffer in pain.. ESPECIALLY someone who said even though they hate kids, they are friendly, polite, and careful not to try to scare them or make them cry.. yep.. that is EXACTLY sometthing that i would do.. EXACTLY

I hate you to.

Probably fluctuate between crying and anger. And if damage had been caused, yes I would definitely take it up with the parent.

Death to all children! ;) :D

And yet you somehow matured into a polite, caring adult who shows their politeness towards children by denigrating them on an internet forum, in relative anonymity. Evidently, your hatred and unconditional dislike is justified by your years of experience, compared to their lack thereof.

But it is extremely unfair of you to expect of children (of a certain age and below, admittedly) to have the same social refinement you claim to enjoy. Sure, you can hide your feelings behind a screen of grudging politeness, but they may not have developed sufficiently socially.

I think you would agree that the majority of adults are respectful, polite and pleasant. And yet they, like you have sprung from immaturity. In effect, if not actuality, children suffer from a form of Tourette's, by which they can't distinguish what is acceptable from not. In this respect, the onus is on the parent, a role which many, indeed most, fill amply.

In the minority of cases which see the child take after an immature and irresponsible parent, usually a product of their own poor upbringing and education themselves, it is neither surprising nor contemptible. How must a child differentiate appropriate from inappropriate when the most important people in their life are incapable or unwilling to do so themselves?

ok. Why is it your place to judge me for NOT liking kids. There ARE people in this world who just choose to tollerate children while they are out and about and choose to never have one in their homes permamently.

I am really just DONE with this conversation. You are insanely over reacting to my dislike for children. I love my pets though

Ah, the calling card of the irrational arguer. When it becomes obvious that they are unable to justify themselves, they simply restate their position and proclaim to be bored with the discussion, hoping that by doing so, they appear the rational person, and the victor.

That's not how the world works; in parliament, for example, someone can't just say 'I'm DONE with this!' and sit down. Not with an iota of credibility, anyway.

*Waits for inevitable ad hominem reply.

I would forgive the kids, talk to the parents and hopefully the parents will offer to pay; if they give me hard time I'll slam their heads together; if they don't offer to pay, but don't give me a hard time, I'll just leave and buy a new phone... but of course I use a bluetooth headset and even if I did carry the phone, I hold my phone's pretty tight!

And how do you think the world would run if people didn't get on their high horses?

See, once again, an untenable position begets anger towards the person who points it out.
