Last iPad OS update was called just iPad OS 13. no “Developer Beta X” Just as they label GMs. Also, the build was like 2GBs or so. I think the next Public Beta release might clear things way more.

Funny how Apple calls it “Automations”. It only shows you a notification to run a shortcut :|

and what happens when you tap on the notification?

I remember when IOS was a lot simpler, will need a PhD to operate this thing in the future.

How so? What do you find confusing or impossible to use because it's too complex to understand?

What's a dynamic wallpaper?

iOS 13 betas are so buggy that Apple needed to start testing 13.1 before 13 is even out

Mail app is royally ****ed up

No issues here with mail. The fact that you experience a bug does not mean that everyone else is.

For the beta users out there. How about the dark mode? Did you embrace it or it faded away after a short trial? I tried several times the dark mode in my Mac, but I can't get used to it. I find it harder on my eyes actually.

Dark mode is much better on iOS than macOS. I have it set to Auto and the improvement is night and day.

:D:D:D

While it seems odd, this is not unexpected to me at all. iOS 13.0 is a disaster and since beta 2 I've known that this was going to be a bomb of a release.

Beta 2 and 3 were a mess (which is not unusual ... still better than iOS 7 beta 2, yikes). Beta 4 was better. Since beta 5, both of my devices have been pretty damned solid.

I use it at night when I'm in bed so I don't disturb my wife when checking email, texts, calendar, etc. During the day, I much prefer having it in 'light' mode.

Other than the Mail app bugs, iOS 13 has been quite stable on my XR. So now that it’s all but confirmed that 3D Touch is gone on 2019 iPhones, will the dynamic wallpapers work on my XR? The OP mentions dynamic wallpapers now working on older devices. Does that mean new wallpapers coming in iOS 13.1?

I am not a dev, but I enjoyed using the iOS 12 betas on a second iPad and looked forward to the future when iOS 11 was a train wreck. I haven't tried any of the 13 betas. I think I'll stick with 12.4.1 for now.

I don’t know if anyone has already mentioned it, but they randomly changed the heart eyes emoji and I hate it

Mouse Support Improvements - According to developer Steve Troughton-Smith, it's now possible to map the right click function of a mouse to the 3D Touch/long press action on an iOS device. Mouse support in iOS 13 and iPadOS is available as an accessibility option.

Nice! Now they just need to enable scrolling with the scroll wheel and a toggle for natural vs classic scroll direction.

That is not entirely true. For example, I had it setup so when my alarm is turned off, all the lights come on and music starts playing on the Apple TV. No notification confirmation required. This is an automation in my book.

I think the article is correct. The dynamic wallpaper was different between iPhone 8 & iPhone X. iPhone X introduced the dark background dynamic wallpaper, iPhone 8 was the last of the brightly colored dynamic wallpaper.

The problem is that the 13 beta has broken the dynamic wallpaper so that the bubbles disappear forever and it has an ugly darkened orange filter effect. I'm hoping they bring it back to the brighter colored bubbles. It's ugly right now in iOS 13 beta.
"The Dynamic wallpapers previously limited to the iPhone X and later are also now available on older devices. "

The Dynamic Wallpapers were introduced in iOS 7 and have been around forever. iPhone X debuted new Dynamic wallpapers with different colors and, most importantly, a black background.

So, the dynamic wallpapers have never been limited to the iPhone X. The colors for the dynamic wallpapers were limited but apparently aren't limited now.

Now that I read it, I think he meant to say "the Dynamic wallpapers that were previously limited to the iPhone X."

I think you can read it either way. There's a subject-object agreement thing happening here I vaguely recall from freshman HS english.

Shortcuts is needless complicated and for me at least, not necessary.

I don't need to chain together apps and commands to set an alarm.

Yes, I know I don't have to do that. I think OP was just indicating these devices have become very complicated in many respects, often needlessly so.

No need to be so hostile to the guys making comments. The lecture on the meaning of the word "dynamic" was especially condescending and sorta nasty.

There is always someone that says this, and I can't really address it. Whether you notice it or not, experience it or not, it is factually unequivocally unstable and in meaningful ways that would cause an uproar if seeded to the general public.

Mail.app is def a regression. There are 5-6 bugs in it that happen consistently. Stuff that wasn’t present in 12. And functionally, nothing has changed about the app so I don’t know if the underlying code base was changed for something drastically different down the road, or for better cross platform integration. But it just feels like a huge screwup.

13.1 beta seems a bit better than 13.0 beta, but with past betas it got worse each day until I rebooted, so my hopes aren’t up yet.

I like the dark mode on iOS. But I also like it on the Mac.
[doublepost=1566960676][/doublepost]I have been running the public beta of iOS 13 for several months on my XS max (and iPad OS beta on my iPad Pro) and other than a bug in mail I think it’s far better and less buggy than 12 currently is.

1. Some would say Copy and Paste itself is very 1990's. If you're relying on Copy and Paste so much that you need a dedicated copy and paste manager, odds are you're doing something wrong. There is definitely a better way.

And this better way is?

13.0 will never be seeded to the public, that is definite as of right now. 13.1.x will be released to the public on the original date for 13.0 (the week of September 16-20).

Why on earth would they not call it 13.0 then? And why would they pull features out if they were still going to release them as part of the first general availability of iOS 13?

I think the point being made is that all that other stuff is not necessary and does not change how to use the device. It does not get more complicated, it just adds more features. That does not mean you need to use them or learn them....

Uhh it kinda does change how the device is used because instead of me dragging 1 app at a time I could be selecting multiple. There are features that make things faster and it’s hard to know all of them without reading articles on iOS’ “hidden features”. I can do everything I need to do right now, but if it was still feasible to know every new feature my experience would be much better.

The complication isn’t about using the device and navigating it. The complication is not being able to keep up with useful shortcuts.

I love it, and will not be going back to regular mode anytime soon. I've had it active since the first Public Beta. It's great!!!

I don’t like it. It’s like going back to the days of the apple ][ or VT100 terminals. Horrible.

That's why we have options... For me the gains on battery life on OLED, and not to mention how cool it looks are all one could ask for.

To each his/her own.
