Hey everyone, how’s your Christmas break treating you? Wishing you all a happy New Year and hoping you have an amazing 2026!

Welcome to 2026 . . . we made it!

The Break has been a welcome respite from the day-to-day busy-ness of keeping my kiddos continuously engaged, and filled with the much needed time to do all the re-organization around the house that was previously on the back-burner.

I have been, however, doing some Classwork (though on a cadence that fits my timelines).

Our 'school' officially starts Tuesday, and I'm steeling myself to be greeted with the expectation of having 32+ kiddos eager to avoid actually working on the lessons awaiting.

*merges quickly into the fast-lane*

I don’t return until late January.

But Christmas break gives us the opportunity to refresh and rest.

Congratulations bro !!!

Was it hard ?
Well, among PhD candidates here in Spain (and I suppose it's the same all over) we have a saying that goes "no one knows more than you about the topic you researched". So, having that in mind, it's not difficult per se. Nerve wracking maybe if even a bit, nut not difficult. The real difficulty lays on condensing 5+ years of work in a 45 min presentation tbh, even if you present only the papers / chapters that you made

I’ve also seen scientific research presentations in high school and college. We had to compile everything into slides and posters and present within an x amount of time. I also presented research in my nasa internships like that too.

NASA internship? that's waaaaaaaaaaaaaay cooler than what I've done hahahah
👍 that’s where my first two STEM internships started with.

I plan to apply for NASA Lucy internship and NPWEE summer ! To come back to that company after doing a state job

Thank you 🙏

School’s back in session since yesterday. Canvas had hiccups lol
I had some students in the Industrial Design and Product Development undergraduate course that used Canvas for their class presentations. You can do real magic with that, huh? I am a bit more old school, I still prefer PowerPoint lol

Both my classes today have been moved to Zoom due to the -45 wind chill (yes, it got that cold). I haven’t been out yet, though I will in an hour. Now it’s -35
Yikes 😟 that’s awful. Here in southern Cali we don’t have negative degree temperatures. Bundle up, sir.

I use PowerPoint and keynote a lot.

I did just go out so I could grab some lunch from the dining hall. It is BAD out there. Really quite bad. I have a rehearsal this afternoon, too. Even just 5 minutes outside and it felt like I was starting to get frostbite.

and did you survive the dash to and from the rehearsal site?
