Almost 7 months now under some form of lockdown here, the longest lockdown in the world apparently. Not sure that alone helps but what I do know is that in an enclosed condominium community of some 6,000 people we have had 6 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in 7 months. all recovered thankfully. It could have really got out of hand here very fast but it didn't because we all practice social distancing, wear face masks and face shields. Mandatory thankfully, the people do not have to decide for themselves, do it or face the consequences. Thank you President Duterte!

Sure it is less than convenient when I have to line up to go into the convenience store as only 3 people are allowed inside at any one time, more inconvenient when I have to line up to get into the elevator to go back to my apartment as only 3 people are allowed inside at any one time.

Could be worse though I could be living in 'the land of the free' and exercising my constitutional rights to freedom. I dread to think how many positive cases we would have had in our community if we followed that philosophy.

I usually cook (and I am an excellent cook and greedy gourmand, and normally enjoy cooking), but, at times, one can get tired of it, especially if, as is the case at the moment (and for the past six months plus), if one is cooking for one.

Oh absolutely. I love cooking, one of those unplugged activities that are relaxing and useful (... and tasty), but sometimes a break is needed (case in point, yours truly today).

And since I am sure you’re a great cook... at what time should I show up for dinner?

As I toed the start line for the marathon I was told by one of the crew that 43,000 people would start virtually with me! I thought my crew would have their hands full! All went well, though for me, running a race alone was different, I thought of all the other people doing the same thing, kind of cool. The crew did excellent bringing me home under 4 hours.

Not today, since dinner took the form of an Asian take-out (and delicious it was, too).

I know its wrong but when I return to the UK on November 12 after 8 months in Manila the first thing I will do whilst under 14 days quarantine is order an Indian takeaway. I know it is not authentic Indian food but it tastes soooooo good. Vindaloo curry, rice, Naan bread and maybe some vegetables. Just can't get it here easily in Manila.

My girlfriend and I are speaking tomorrow after not talking to each other for almost a week over a big argument. I'm sure it will be lovely..

Or maybe time can cure it. I arrived in Manila March 11 for 3 weeks just to visit my daughters. 7 months later I am still here. Not only do the girls love having me here my estranged wife and I have found a new bond. Could have gone either way, stabbing each other with knives was a distinct possibility during the 7 month lockdown but we came through it. Thank you COVID-19!

Well done. What’s your best time?

I'm thinking about how much my infected gums hurt, and how I'll never be able to afford to fix the issue, thus dooming me to an agonizingly septic death.

When did Wal~Mart start this stupid $35 minimum for pickup policy??? And give they at least try to give a sensible reason. Couldn't find anything on Google, so it is fairly recent? Stupidest thing you could do for COVID because now if people want a few things <$35, they have to walk all around the store, especially if they don't know where the things they want are. So bye bye WM. I can order as little as I want from Target and not even have to step in the store at all with Curbside.

EDIT: Someone at work said it's because they put grocery and non grocery together on app and site, and you have to specifically pick non grocery. All I remember seeing though was shipping vs Pickup/Delivery. Will have to look closer tonight

Might we really be in one of those big humanity turning points right now? I mean things have radically changed and it just feels weird in the air, and the internet, and people all around are just losing it. It's just not the same as it used to.

If people around the world had actually properly quarantined themselves, then we wouldn't still be going through this. I call it an unfortunate situation that has been extended by ignorant people who cannot keep their germs to themselves.

I dare say that every X amount of years the Universe puts us down, and makes sure that we understand - as a species - how fragile we are and how our "safety" is barely held together. This is one of those cases. 9/11, financial crisis, war, pandemics, etc. are nothing else but the same things that happen at individual or family level (crime, loss of job, violence, illness). I guess that's also one of the many meanings of the appearance of death around us.
Memento mori.

I'm still digitizing old tapes. I might've bitten off more than I can chew; the VCR has started doing this neat thing where it shuts off if I try to rewind while the tape isn't playing, so I have to do the very slow rewind.

Upside: I think I'm related to Hector Salamanca.

here you can see the impact of a Presidential Covid, a SCOTUS nomination, and going back to using my workout app (which requires me to input data after each set).

[the above mention of big political events is also called "blatant self-serving lie to justify the use and abuse of Reddit."

Yeah I get that, although for me it's usually Twitter, and what's on my mind is probably not suited to this forum. But yes, it relates to my overuse of a certain corner of the internet in the past week or so. Always make trouble for myself when "something" happens and the Twitterverse blows up.

Usually I just follow media outlets that I subscribe to. I do tend to expand that, and to follow more reporters and bloggers temporarily when news is focused on a particular person or series of events.

Then I have to go back for the sake of sanity and unfollow most of my expanded view of that platform. So tedious. I ditch five or ten accounts per time I log in, to keep from getting really annoyed at myself -- sometimes just for having given a damn about what the added accounts had to say to begin with. Curiosity may not kill this cat but it sometimes backfires later.
