Yeah I get that, although for me it's usually Twitter, and what's on my mind is probably not suited to this forum. But yes, it relates to my overuse of a certain corner of the internet in the past week or so. Always make trouble for myself when "something" happens and the Twitterverse blows up.

Usually I just follow media outlets that I subscribe to. I do tend to expand that, and to follow more reporters and bloggers temporarily when news is focused on a particular person or series of events.

Then I have to go back for the sake of sanity and unfollow most of my expanded view of that platform. So tedious. I ditch five or ten accounts per time I log in, to keep from getting really annoyed at myself -- sometimes just for having given a damn about what the added accounts had to say to begin with. Curiosity may not kill this cat but it sometimes backfires later.
Never had any interest in joining Twitter of FB. I’d rather spend time on here where you get a more pleasant user experience.

I think it depends who you know and choose to be friends with lol. I know some right muppets and are linked on social media but they have no idea I’ve hidden them. Friends out of politeness as seeing them in person is enough lol. I do find Facebook is important for me in terms of staying in touch with close friends and family who live many miles away. I wouldn’t necessarily phone them everyday but it’s nice to see what they’ve been up to. It’s a very customisable experience I find and it’s very easy to block out the things you don’t want to see. I got rid of all political stuff which has made it a much more enjoyable experience.

To be honest outside of work and MR I keep in touch with
Mum (phone only)
Dad (phone and the odd text, email)
3 friends. Two nearly all by phone. The other nearly all by text.
That’s it.

And no, not everyone is "scared", some are accepting, others are resigned, yet others welcome it, while yet others admit to curiosity.
I'd say I'm one of the curious ones. I won't go out of my way to see what happens, but it'll be interesting for sure. It will be disappointing when I do go, as I'm sure I'll always have that "one last thing" I'd like to do, but I wouldn't say I'm afraid by any means for myself at least.

I'd fear for others who care about me, both regarding my own death and their deaths, but not myself personally.

I certainly fear a violent death, but have no fear about dying otherwise. One experience that changed lingering fear was helping a sibling have a "good death" as a result of an inoperable brain tumor. We spent every day for nearly 18 months together, and in the last three months talked openly about what was going to happen and how best to prepare. The last three weeks were spent in hospice, and that experience of learning what hospice offers for the patient and family changed my attitude greatly. Not everyone gets the time to exit that way, but knowing it might be an option eased my fears quite a bit.

Appreciate the conversation above, but will politely skip talking about it.

Rebooting the positive thinking after a week of external triggers.

...and this morning my favorite bird stopped and flew by to start my day right:

Saw and heard local Blue Jay (s) 3x earlier today: Including right overhead in our front tree while I was throwing out garbage. 😍It was cawing loudly and hopping from branch to branch.

The Jays aren't around daily due to the dog noise 🙁, but it was wonderful to get three viewings in before work.

It’s Wednesday, so yay! May everyone have a good day.

We had 8 ducks on the pond when we went out for our evening walk. Then they crossed the road to head to the village green to gorge on acorns. I didn’t know they did that.

That happens to me way too often.

@Apple fanboy hope you were able to take break. I forgot ducks ate acorns.

While ducks may eat acorns, (do they? This is something I hadn't known), the acorn eaters that interest me are the Spanish or Portuguese black Iberian pigs that - in a later life - become the exquisitely delicious and irresistible iberico ham (or Jamón ibérico).

Later life? More like after life! But yes iberico ham is delicious.
Didn’t know they ate acorns either. They were happily wolfing them down.

Not for as long as I’d like.

Well, okay, an after life.

But the really good iberico ham comes from black Iberian pigs (a specific breed) that have feasted on, and foraged for, acorns, which seem to give the meat of some that utterly delicious flavour.

@faust hope you are feeling a little better.

Yes, iberico ham. I‘ve heard of it, but never eaten it. No ham for me. Lots more for @Scepticalscribe :)

Let's put it this way:

I'm not vegetarian (although I do see - and have some slight sympathy for - the arguments for it, and strongly believe in, reduced or limited consumption of meat and even then, only consuming the meat from animals and fowl that have been treated ethically and humanely, preferably in environmentally aware and organic conditions), and, one of the main reasons I shall never become vegetarian is iberico ham.

Do I want to pass the rest of my life without ever enjoying or simply savouring this sublime delicacy ever again? No, I do not.

A question I heard on the radio the other day. Would you still eat meat if animals could talk? The consensus was if they were stupid, they were fair game.
