Wow. I can buy 3 used iPhone X units for that price. Might be time to convince yourself to upgrade? ;)

I don’t want to upgrade just a few months shy of the new model! I have an old SE no one is using at home, I might try using that until the new iPhone is released

Perfect day today, up to 17 degrees yet still crisp in the morning and evening. Nary a cloud nor the wind that we suffered here the past weekend. Took my bike to a hardware store to help a friend get some supplies and rode there and back by the Rhone. Forgot all my problems seeing the sun set and watching the moon. Still see snow in the mountains.

Rubbish day today. Literally been working all day. Still not well so I can’t train. Ulcers so I can’t eat or walk.
Took a half hour break for lunch and a half hour break for dinner.
Other than that say at my computer from 8am until 10pm.

Ahhahaha they are insane.
Woah. Yeah, I'd opt for the SE. I've found these devices used for less on Swappa. I'm assuming they replace the whole device for that?

On my mind: Today is going to be very long but I need out of this apartment. So we're headed to Cuero Texas with my mother in law for her second dose of vaccine.

We're waiting for my husband's credit score to reflect that we've paid off all credit card debt so his credit score will go up. Then we can move forward with trying to get this manufactured home on the in-laws land.

Worse case, we'll have to buy a regular house but with rent at $1300 (With water, trash, pest included) it's ridiculous. We will be breaking this lease we didn't even want to have to resign. It'll cost us about $2,000 but that's a drop in the bucket. This place has completely neglected all maintenance, leaves gates open, loud music all night, people moving out in droves, and we just need to go.

@yaxomoxay if it helps I had a friend who got a iPhone 8 plus late 2018 with a new mobile contract and it has served well, so we are still at the end of March so if you want to upgrade go for it as we are at least 6-7 months before the new ones are available. Then again the SE was a fine phone, my boss still uses one and it is solid so if you want to use it until the fall it should serve you well.

@Apple fanboy I hope your day is better today. As someone with sensitive skin (I had a really bad outbreak of eczema early January that only a cortisone shot calmed) I know when autoimmune issues come up they are really crippling. Try to go for a walk or use a timer so you are not planted in front of your screen (says the guy planted since 9 AM).

@Septembersrain good luck with your eventual move and hope you mother-in-laws second does goes well. Mine is due on April 7.

@kazmac hi! Yes $600 is ridiculous - thankfully I am looking at replacing my 7 plus battery and even at the Apple store it should be pretty affordable. I will see how things go and may upgrade to the 12 or 12 Pro soon.

It’s no fun when the place you call home isn’t anymore. I’m so glad we escaped before the lockdown.

Thanks. Unfortunately walking is painful due to bleeding sores in a place no man wants bleeding sores.

@Septembersrain ugh. So sorry. Hope you can move soon. Good luck on mom-in-law’s second shot. 🤗🤗

@Apple fanboy hope your skin issues clear up quickly.🤗

Hi DeCafjava,

yes the 7+ was great. I hope you can get your battery changed at a reasonable price. May @yaxomoxay ’s SE hold out for a few months.

So true. We have to wait to move for several months for sis and brother-in-law to get acclimated and settled into their new digs and mom to become more mobile once we can arrange for her to have gel injected into her knees.

Woken up by pot stench here this morning (almost a daily thing several days a week now and several times a day too). Landlord refuses to do squat (all money based): so between that and rude neighbors’ whiny dogs and other noise it’s just 🥺😡🥺. I am working making myself strong in spite of these conditions.

Debating if I should go head with Google’s IT helpdesk course, I think I need a PC -which is fine- but I am not sure what to do.

So glad to hear Mr. Cardinal singing daily (He sure is happy!) The Blue Jays seem to have retreated to make baby Blue Jays and we’re still okay otherwise. So trying to keep a levelhead.

Hope everyone else is okay. 🤗

$600 is ridiculous -especially for a 3.5 year old phone- may your SE carry you until you can upgrade.

My iPhone X officially died. Brought to a local tech guy, he tried to replace the battery and the screen and it didn't work. Thankfully, he didn't make me pay a dime despite spending a good hour troubleshooting what is now my new brick.
Using my kid's old iPhone SE at the moment, will see if it lasts or if I can somewhat work and live for a few months with it. I miss FaceID already.

@yaxomoxay hope the SE holds out for you.
Sadly, it isn't. Battery drains after about 90 minutes, and the screen is not fully responsive (plus a couple of white lines showing on it). I think I'll get a new phone at lunchtime. Oh well, in the great order of things of the universe, this is truly a minor issue.

I'll keep the SE as the emergency phone.

Darn. May you buy a great phone for your use/need. 🤗

iPhone SE soon to be listed on eBay as mint condition! :)

Going to buy a used phone to take you to September or the current one.

If 5G is faster than Wifi, why not make home rotuers emit 5G signal instead of Wifi?
Likely not because 5G was designed exclusively for cellular networks using licensed spectrum bands for long range communication. Home WiFi uses different bands for shorter local communication. In addition, frequency conflicts trying to share both communications really intended for different purposes.

Wife got second Covid shot and she’s feeling awful. Therefore, Sunday at home. Had to buy a couple things at the local store so I decided to buy the Sunday edition of the New York Times. Strangely, they didn’t have the weekend edition of the Wall Street Journal which they always carry and I would’ve bought.
Basically spent the morning sipping coffee and reading physical newspapers (NYT, Epoch Times). Many interesting articles on both, definitely different point of views, and lots to ponder on.
Ultimately, a nice way to relax while getting informed and exposed to different ideas. Also, a good reminder of how it was when I grew up.

Been almost a week since I got my first. Still not 100%. Dreading my second.

When chatting with Decent Brother this afternoon, he told me that he had phoned my 94 year old aunt - my father's sister, who is still completely sharp, acerbic and utterly lucid - and had asked her which - in her view, was worse to live through in terms of stress: The period of the second world war (rationing, war, stress, sudden and sometimes violent death, curtailed or limited travel, censorship) or now.

She replied that the finds "now", the time of this current pandemic, to be more stressful.

Got up early to watch Oregon Ducks play UCLA in the Final Sixteen basketball tournament, earlier USC upset Alabama to move on to the Final Eight. The Oregon Beavers are already in the Final Eight. Whoever wins this game will mean three PAC-12, (Pacific Athletic Conference), will be in the Final Eight.

I am convinced that taking a step backward and devolving to the old way makes for a better living. The internet is more convenient and cheaper, and I hated that $10 price of magazines, but it makes for a worth while reading material. The human brain is not made to have 1 second interactions jumping from one place to the other with infinite information.

Two words that should not ever be in the same sentence--

Climbing and Rose.

The combination is an evil, malicious being that grows faster than you can imagine, invades your roof and, more importantly, your gutters, is armed with an array of needle-sharp, envenomated thorns and has better aim for humans than John Wyndham's Triffids.

Just sayin'. (while rubbing ointment into the multitude of holes now adorning my delicate self...)
