I often discuss on this thread topics related to digital minimalism, social media etc.
I just read this interesting article from The American Scholar magazine titled “What I will miss about the pandemic.” Link here https://theamericanscholar.org/what-i-will-miss-about-the-pandemic

One good quote:
One of the pandemic’s great gifts has been the suppression of that most unsettling of all modern afflictions, the fear of missing out

(there’s very little politics at the end of the article, certainly not enough to make this PRSI material).

I guess we all have different lives and experiences. I’ve seen no more or less people during the pandemic than I did before it. It kind of makes me laugh hearing people moan about not being able to meet up with family, eat out or have holidays. Just sounds like my life!

Certainly have no fear of missing out!

Also been so busy with work that the being bored really hasn’t applied to me.

While I am pretty introverted, and have an unusually high tolerance for my own company, I miss my brothers, and I miss the - infrequent, yes, but still treasured and enormously enjoyed - dinners I used to be able to enjoy with my brothers and the friends with whom I used to share such things.

Likewise, I miss classical concerts, coffee-shops, and bookshops, and indeed, libraries.

For, it is over six months since I last saw Decent Brother, and around 16 months since I last laid eyes on Other Brother and my sister-in-law; I enjoy fine dining, and miss not having long, lingering, relaxed chats with my brothers over dinner.

But, yes, agree completely about the welcome death of the frequently infuriating "fomo" mindset, at least for the duration of the pandemic.

I’m sure you and your brother could meet up now given the current restrictions that have been slightly lifted? I think it would have to be outside though.

I've been perfectly content here, as my own company suits me and I've got plenty to keep me busy: photography, books, occasional housekeeping chores, etc., etc. I was surprised, though, at how much I did enjoy being with friends early in March for that lunch at a restaurant, even though I was a bit concerned that it might be too soon for that kind of activity. Since everybody's still fine, no one got sick, I guess it WAS OK after all!

I was delighted when our library, which had been back in the curbside service-only mode for a couple of months, finally has reopened again with restrictions similar to what we had experienced earlier, and that is more than fine with me. I much prefer being able to walk in there and retrieve my own reserved books, quickly browse the new books shelves and then head on out with my new reading matter clutched in my hands to having to deal with the whole curbside pickup deal. I daresay the library staff, too, prefers being able to actually serve the public again in the more customary ways!

More and more people are being vaccinated as more vaccine becomes available and this is good, as that will get us into the safety zone of herd immunity more rapidly. In the meantime I continue to maintain the usual precautions, wearing the mask and keeping appropriate social distancing when encountering another person on one of my walks around the neighborhood or in the library, grocery store, etc.

I unearthed my (prescription) sunglasses, having hunted for them last night - sunny conditions meant that they were worn today.

The real issue - for wearing with masks - was to find a second set of lanyards, so that they wouldn't fall off my nose; I didn't want to remove the pair of lanyards (and - worse, as a consequence, - run the risk of losing them) on my 'ordinary' glasses.

Anyway, second set of lanyards located, and, thus equipped, I sallied forth, attired in sunglasses, lanyards and mask.

A lovely Spring day here, a perfect Easter Sunday! Alas, very few people are going out-and-about dressed in new Spring finery, as many churches still aren't open for regular services, just continue to stream over the air to their congregants watching from home. While some restaurants are open, many still are only serving outdoors and today will be a nice one for that. Some places are advertising special Easter Sunday brunches, and I suppose some of them will be relatively busy. As more and more people in this area are getting vaccinated, they are beginning to venture out more and go to restaurants and stores again.

Happy Easter, to all who celebrate it!

Happy Western Easter all! We of Eastern Orthodox tradition will celebrate on May 2 this year and I will be in the supermarket Tuesday morning for discounted Easter chocolate. :D
Lol. Discounted Easter chocolate? I still think you’d get more chocolate for your money if you went to the regular chocolate isle.
Easter chocolate is terrible. All that packaging, not much chocolate.

Happy Easter everyone!

Happy Easter !

Hehe maybe you're right, I love those chocolate eggs with truffle chocolates on top though.

This is the first I've had a period of choosing chocolate over my favorite Sherbet Lemon candies and Lemon Bars..... Won't last long, though, as I tend to go through phases, and of course right now the Peanut Butter Eggs and the Chocolate Bunny are available only seasonally, anyway. Soon they'll be gone from the stores (and eventually my kitchen!)....

Chocolate goes well with a nice cup of rich, dark, well-brewed coffee!

Thing is. Beer and crisps go well together. What does chocolate go well with?
Beer and crisps go exceptionally well together, and sometimes, wine can also work well with crisps.

Re chocolate, @Clix Pix - quoted below - has the right of it.

Chocolate goes exceptionally well with coffee (and indeed, it also goes pretty well with tea).

Yes I suppose a nice dark chocolate and black coffee compliment each other. Can't recall the last time I had a coffee.
