Been having a hell of a time dealing with my Bipolar 2. The voices are always there but lately the suicidal ideation has been off the charts. It's rather annoying to be doing basic things and your mind wander to how it would kill you from it. Example... drinking my water and my brain drifts to..."so how much water could I drink before it becomes deadly." Driving over a bridge...."So how fast would I need to go to be able to flip my car over the guardrail."

Ugh.
I do hope that you are talking to a mental health professional about this in the meantime please take care.

Thank you, and yes, talk to my pdoc frequently. I've been good off meds for the past 7-8 years, but I'm thinking it may be time to go on them again soon. I just hate the side effects as I feel they make me worse of a person than off.

You may want to chat with a Functional Medicine doctor, nutrition can influence brain health, ie; eating sugar.

Check the work from Byron Katie, she has a series of statements you ask yourself to help determine the validation of mental thinking

I'll check more into her, but on the surface from what I checked out real fast seems much along the same lines of "pray the bad thoughts away." Which, would be simple if it was just that easy.

I checked how the UK measures its AQI and it's on a scale of 1-10, so not surprising you found your area's to be 2. The UK's low index is 1-3. In the US it's measured on a scale of 0-500, and the low index is 0-50. The AQI I was referencing last night would be comparable to a range of 6-7 on the UK scale, I believe.

Thanks for the reply :) makes sense now! Hope you and your loved ones are well. At least wearing a mask nowadays doesn’t make you stick out too much if you or anyone should use a respirator

Having a real problem now with dog walkers using the PRoW across part of our land - getting really fed up of picking up the dog 💩 they can't be bothered to, but worse is the horse worrying from clearly out of control animals. Never mind that dogs are supposed to be on leads when crossing fields with livestock. This has always been a source of conflict, but the number of clueless people who have bought dogs during lockdown, and now the tourist season build up has been peaking this to intolerable levels.

Time to introduce dog ownership licenses that can be revoked for antisocial behaviour. Owning a dog should be a privilege only for those who are able to do it properly.

When one wishes for the good old days of a crowbar to the knee* instead of social media wars. I can't go into detail as it will quickly devolve into PRSI territory but have been made aware of a nasty brouhaha in the world of men's figure skating centred on its perception as a feminine sport. Not quite as ugly yet as the conflict I read among fans of the 2018 Olympic Women's gold and silver medalists but it could get bad.

Ok ok. 🤐🤐

So nice day summer is here, working from home this morning as a lot of lecturers and institutions are away or on reduced hours for the summer. Will be in tomorrow to continue in our now clean office and I got more vaccination cards from our incoming Fall student group very very cool!!

*Tonya Harding vs. Nancy Kerrigan if anyone recalls.

P.S. I am a straight male but like figure skating as well as hockey, tennis and football/soccer. Ok Arn.🤐

Well, it's not a new perception, or a new conversation. Exactly as bodybuilders or football players are seen as brute/ignorant etc...

how many conversations did we have on "<sport> is more stupid than <other sport>", as if sports had much to do with general intelligence?

The problem is that with social media a water cooler conversation between two individuals is now on a global scale, and a verbal fight between two athletes is now immediate, global, and amplified instead of just being hidden somewhere in the Sports section of the local paper. People take tweets way to seriously, and mainstream media agencies love to amplify and make them sound even worse (example: usage of verbiage such as "blasts", "hits", "shakes", "attacks" instead of a more simple "criticizes").

That's a shame, a lot of equestrian sports are like that as well (which is weird because at a professional level equestrian sports are very much male dominated?) 🤔 To that end I've always kept largely out of competitive events... I do wonder how far I could have gotten if I'd had the inclination, it could've been me out there in Tokyo now lol :p

live close to a neighborhood park, has several walking trails inside the park among tall firs, as well as around a large open area that youth soccer uses for practice. there's also a basketball court, a small softball field, four horseshoe pits, and a large children's playground area with swings, slide, bouncy ride toys. there are 2 different stations where you can pick up poop bags as well as containers to discard the used bags in. the wife and I walk the park every morning with our schnauzer, and almost every day we notice not only large "tootsie rolls" that have not been picked up, or, the dog walkers use their bag to pick up the poop but then drop the bag there on the ground. on several occasions either the wife or I have witnessed these acts and have called the people out. and what's even more surprising than their behavior is their response to our questioning this behavior. one guy argued with me about picking his dog's poop up, and after I told him that I knew where he lived and I was going to pick up and collect dog poop and leave it on his porch, he reluctantly picked it up. these people don't even think about the little kids that are running around playing in these areas, or the family's that come to the park and have picnics, or lay blankets down to relax and read. total disregard for other people.

I fully support your views but these days you have no idea what kind of lunatic you may be dealing with. My friend in London had his dog almost killed by a pit bull in a park as the low life owner took offence to my friends comments. You don't know who may be carrying a gun, knife etc.

Is it allergies or is it a cold..? Sweating excessively, nose is running, can’t seem to get warm… eh probably allergies from the crap cologne my coworker probably showers in. That guy does not understand the less is more concept. :’(

I hear you. told the wife to make sure that if she confronted someone that it was from a distance and only if she was sure that they looked like a non-violent person. if they got a gun and take a shot at me, they better not miss, I can get back to my house in a minute and return with more fire power...but wouldn't.

I don’t tend to witness the fouling, only the aftermath, I have however (politely) asked a few people to recall their dogs when they’ve been going over to the animals when I’ve been present… generally the response is something along the lines of a muttered ‘ok, sorry’, and they continue on their way. A family friend (older lady) has been left in tears after challenging someone on a different stretch of the same path though 😕

So for all the idiocy on TikTok (yes yes I have an account and follow a few accounts including some athletes) I was greatly amused to find on one recent clip (1 million views in 48 hours) to find that simping is also a Russian sport - the mobile app translates comments as well as titles. 😂

I don't use it much myself but I've seen a few hilarious videos. Though more than that I end up with an increased feeling that natural selection isn't working properly.

Today is going to be so long it'll end up feeling like a week when I'm done. Though I'm an anti-social Otaku with massive chronic pain, I'm going out to lunch with a friend from school after my psychiatrist and chiropractor.

The snacks I ordered got here, so here's a quick review.

Prawn cocktail crisps: Delicious. I think the closest we could get over here would be to mix a bag of salt and vinegar Lays with tomato and basil. So good, though.

Frazzles: Not a huge fan. They taste like a breakfast cereal we have called Kix but with a lot of salt and nutritional yeast added. I kinda want to try doing that, so I've held onto one bag of Frazzles for comparison.

Work stuff. Started early and traveled down to London yesterday. Then last night I stopped in a hotel. I think I was awake until 2 (I’d been up since before 5). Then felt like every half an hour I was checking the time. It’s now coming up to six and I need to be in the office for 7. Then a three hour drive back this afternoon.

@Apple fanboy I find valerian and magnesium help with sleep - if it's really bad sleeping pills as a last resort. <---really last.

Or a 1/3 bottle of scotch. (kidding alcohol is the worst for real sleep).

@AngerDanger we can get those prawn crisps in the Asian shops here they are delicious. The other stuff sounds like you can do a better job yourself.

Just bought my first electric toothbrush, an Oral-B Pro 1000, and I love it. It's a revelation how good it makes my mouth feel, and hopefully shows good results at checkups too.

Although my hygienist had encouraged me to get one, I had tried one years ago and the strong vibrations were overwhelming, so avoided them. But after reading a recent Wirecutter review, and finding the price is very reasonable, I thought why not try again. I'm a convert.

I *think* he means Prawn cocktail the flavour (actually tastes more like a weird sweet BBQ flavour or something IMO) prawn crackers like you get with a Chinese takeaway are a different snack

As I’m a very occasional drinker, I’m sure the beer I had last night tgat didn’t help. That and I was in a hotel bed. I never sleep well when I’m in a strange bed the first night.
Fortunately I just got home. I’m sure I’ll sleep well tonight.
