I read many love letters on the 15PM: How awesome the display is, what an amazing battery life the phone has, that the 5x zoom changes the way we make photos a.s.o.
Almost no-one seems to talk about the 15 Pro. What's wrong with it? Is it the inferior device?
I really like my 15Pro: The size is perfect, I enjoy the native 3x zoom, battery life is good, I can handle it with one hand and it fits in any of my pockets.
Question is: Am I the only one, who really likes his 15Pro?
I gave the wife my 15PM and got myself a Pro, and I am very happy with the change.

I tried a pro max because I really thought I wanted to go larger, and this year was the year to do it with the reduced weight. I wound up returning the max and going back to a regular pro. As gorgeous of a device as it was, I just couldn’t deal with the added weight/size. The pro is easy for me to use one-handed (especially with my Loopy case), and I’m happy with the reduced weight.

I've had it since launch and it's honestly overall a fantastic device. I have little complaints about it.

Thanks for backing up what you said. Many have said their battery lives are good/bad without any evidence.
Happy to oblige and thanks for acknowledging that! I don’t like it when people make unsubstantiated claims, so I had to walk the talk!

Also, to add context to my numbers: I was on cellular data the whole day (mostly 5G, even), and for around one hour, I was even on dual-SIM mode!

I actually went 13 Pro to 15 Pro Max exclusively for the increased display size and found the new design changes made the transition easier than I was expecting. My wife is still on a 13 Pro Max and there is definitely a noticeable difference in feel/weight between the 13PM and 15PM. I may return to the standard Pro at some point but I’m enjoying the larger form factor now. Haven’t had a large iPhone since the 7 Plus.

It’s definitely usable and you get used to it. But the screen size increase is not that substantial, compared to, say, an iPad.

In my experience - the Max was neither that much harder to hold, nor was the size difference worth the slight extra effort. Meaning - it comes down to preference. I just wanted a change. I may return to a bigger iPhone at some point, but for now, the regular pro is just lovely.

Having not been with iPhone since around 2013, and coming from a Fold 4, 15PM feels just about right. Got my wife 15P as it isn't comfortable for her to handle 15PM. Both phones are great, I just needed the extra screen space after Fold 4 lol.

I really don't know anyone who opts for the Pro/Max but skimps on storage.

This girl. I have the 128 pro. I bought a 256 14 pro last year, and never got close to 128. I have 86 gb available of the 128 I have on my pro.

I do offload photos and videos to my Mac every few months because I don’t use cloud for photos, but I have 93 apps on my phone, and still plenty of space.

I got my iPhone 15 Pro last Friday, so it hasn’t even been a week, but I’m very happy with mine. I guess it helped that I watched an obscene amount of review videos before our local launch last week, so I knew what I was getting into.

No issues so far. The experience is what I had hoped it would be. Even during setup, when I transferred 400+ GB from my old phone to this one, the 15 Pro didn’t get hot.

It was important to me that I could use my phone with one hand and that I could fit it in my pocket, and the 15 Pro checks those boxes.

On that note, the form factor is excellent. It reminds me of my old iPhone XS, which was both light and comfortable enough in the hand to use without a case. I use my 15 Pro caseless when I’m at home. It’s honestly irresistible to me. 😅

I was curious about the battery life. I came from an iPhone 13 Pro, and anecdotally the iPhone 13 line appears to be the battery champ, so I wanted to know how it would compare.

Last Sunday, I left the house with a fully charged phone. Then a full 12 hours later, my phone was at 18% battery, with a screen time of 7 hours. Honestly, that surpassed my expectations, given that the 15 Pro is considered the worst in terms of battery life in the iPhone 15 line.

So yeah, in summary, I am very happy with my 15 Pro so far! 🤓
Just FYI looking at your screen shot, your screen time on battery (from 100% to 18% after you unplugged) is about 4.5 hours.

I've had no issue with 15pro. I normally carry a max but wanted something more portable. Also wanted it to feel like a different phone so the size change helped with that.

That sounds more like an accurate representation of my screen time that day, since I wasn’t really using my phone a lot.

I wonder why it says “7 hours” under “Screen Active”, though! That’s kinda confusing.

I just watched a YouTube video earlier, and the YouTuber mentioned that screen time isn’t accurate right now.

With that said, I’m still happy with the battery life I got that day.

15PM just gets the highlight this year because of the 5x camera. The camera system on the 15 Pro is basically identical to last years, other than the processing upgrades to enable 24MP photos.

15 pro can charge to 80% and 14 pro cannot 😅

Besides the obvious difference in size and the advantages and disadvantages that come with it (battery life, screen size, one-handed usability etc.), the only difference is the zoom lens.

I prefer the 15 Pro for size reasons, but if you'd ask me if I rather want a 3x or 5x zoom lens on this phone, I'd probably take the 5x. It obviously depends on the use case, but consider this:

The main camera of these devices is 48 MP, and the zoom lens is only 12 MP (both the 3x and the 5x). When you take a 3x photo with the Pro Max, it still has ~5.33 MP of information from the main sensor. Of course the actual 3x lens of the Pro will get you a way more detailed photograph, but the digital zoomed one of the Pro Max will still be somewhat decent in many cases. Shoot a 5x photo with the 3x lens of the regular Pro, and it will have ~4.32 MP of information to work with. This can still get you somewhat usable photos, but you'll lose more compared to the 3x photo on the Pro Max.

EDIT: Note that my calculation obviously doesn't account for how much light the lens/sensor lets in/gets etc.
