I've jailbroken since the 1.1.4 days with hacked Intelliscreen and thousands of ROMs, but since my interest in customizing and theming has waned which is my main reason, I may just keep it pure this time around. I just hated the lag from Winterboard and I hardly used the Cydia apps anymore.

But I can always change my mind if I get really bored with it and ignite some new life for it. I always loved the light-saber sound when I unlocked it. But for next week, I'll leave it non-jailbroken for awhile. Some hot adult-oriented apps can convince me to break my iPhone 4's iOS cherry though. But I got HD recording, front and back cameras, and Facetime to not worry about the kinky stuff with my babes. That's why I would love to see hotties buying this damn phone for some good ol' fashion face time. Pure state with all those basic features added and improved hardware is good enough for me. But back in 2008, my iPhone was never quite where I wanted to be in both software and hardware. Now everything is just more robust and abundant.

I have no reason to. I haven't been a fan of the jailbreak in years. Cydia is awful and I feel like it taints my phone. The old mobileinstallation hack was better IMO.

Sorry if this may sound stupid, but does Jailbreaking slow down the iPhone or iPad. I jailbroke my iPhone 3G, and it doesnt have a DATA plan, so things such as free tethering and unristrictor would be useless. Also it felt like my iPhone was alot slower...

However, I did love the ability to adjust brightness on the fly with SBSettings (I think)

Im sorry, Ill admit it, the main reason I jailbroke in the first place was to download apps from Installous (Please dont hate me). But I hated that. First off, Installous sucks. Second, I hated how you would have to redownload for updates, and third, always felt guilty.

But that will stop right there. I purchased 200$ worth of iTunes money to buy apps and movies.

So agian, Ill restate, will Jailbreaking slow down the iPhone or iPad? Thanks

Are you in The States? If so how do you have an iPhone without a data plan? Personally, I think that jailbreaking does slow the deovce down a little, it's that battery life that really suffers n

Jailbreaking so I can just import AVI files and not convert vids to mp4 before i sync my iPhone.

Also...

For that reason

Im in Canada, and somehow my Dad got me this student plan for the iPhone. Apparently he argued enough to not get Data since he doesnt wanna pay extra for it. (He pays my phone bill:p, im 15 tho)

But I will be getting the iPhone 4, and will be getting Data, but since I will probably only get 2GB for 30$, tethering probably wouldnt be to useful. I could get 5GB, but I dont feel like paying 70$/Month for Data alone

5gb of data is expensive in your country!

Lock info, bite SMS, 5 icon dock, backgrounder for the things apple won't let you background, custom SMS tones. Hopefully there will be a way to get custom email notification tones aswell. Everything else is taken care of in ios4 for me.

Ya I know its kind of dumb.

I just checked my carriers website and I am mistaken. Here are the current rates:

2GB - $45 ($50/GB overuse )
5GB - $60 ($50/GB overuse )

Im planning on getting the 2GB for my new iPhone. 45$ is still steep tho, but my dad agrred to pay for $50 of the bill, which should cover the costs of voice/text

But I am hoping that since the iPhone can be sold factory unlocked in Canada, the carriers will have some sweet deals to help promote;)

Installous.

I could honestly give up everything else it provides ( and I use a LOT), but I could never give up installous.

what is unrestrictor

Here's where you can learn more about, very useful app I must say.

http://mofodj.net/~crashx/mobile/3G_Unrestrictor.html

I think I could not live with my iPhone without cydia thanks god for that :apple:
oh and to Jay Freeman too.

So many apps just to name a few mywi, nes, lockdown, sbsetting, androidlock, themes, caller id faker, gv mobile, iblacklist, infinidock, proswitcher, overboard, istrings, makeitmine, ssh, quicklock, random ring, yourtube downloader, mobilevolumesound and much more...........

I never end up happy with the performance after jailbreaking. I enjoy the features of doing so, but not justified over stability. End of the day is I need my phone and messages.

sbsettings is the primary reason why i'll jail break mine (sure they'll get it working properly soonish....well thats what i hope).

:D

top needs would be -

more than 12 items / folder

winterboard

mywi

wireless sync

but number 1 would have to be sbsettings!

It allows you to trick your Iphone that you're on Wifi, when in fact you're on 3G. You can download bigger files from the App store, watch Youtube videos in Wifi quality, watch your Slingbox.
You can watch sling box over 3G without jailbreaking.

Basically you just told every one you haven't done it for a while and don't really have a clue what you're talking about.

I know it's all personal opinion but there is NOTHING wrong with Cydia.... I use Rock for the most part but Cydia is fine. To say mi hack was better shows you REALLY have no clue. Ill JB, you keep it stock, we will both enjoy our new 4.

I and thousands of Jailbreakers have never had an issue with our JB i...... Not sure what stability you where giving up. To each his own I say.

For me:
sb settings
cy delet
five column sb
fivel rows
iBlacklist
multi Icon mover (if you don't have this one, get it.... it freakin rocks. No more "moving" your icon, just tap, go to page and hit home and BAM! all icons moved.)
pro switcher
winterboard
homer doh sms
light saber sounds
sms balloon colors
touch key board sound
sb settings tether toggle
3g unrestrictor
infini board
infini dock
lock info
mywi
quick reply

GV Mobile +

because those tards at Apple won't allow google voice... I mean they endlessly "continue to 'study' it."

Mywi and probably firewall IP if it is would be updated to block iAd connections over 3G (switched to 200mb/month plan, gotta watch every byte sent now!)

Edit: ohh and of course iFile to copy files to/from USB flash drives and SD cards provided iPad camera connection kit is compatible with iPhone 4.

Winterboard and BossPaper, primarily. I just like to tweak whatever I can in the UI. It's my phone; I should be able to do with it as I see fit.

ETA: Forgot about SBSettings and SMS tones.
