This is giving Intel plenty of time to release a 10 core chip that either beats the Apple silicon 10 core chip or matches it

That song with the new Windows 11 means an awesome summer.

It seems that Apple want a high price for black bezels after 2021 is over 😂 be funny if the iPhone 13 Mini and Normal have a white notch and bezels! That would crease me 😂😂😂
I had the same thought right before I got to your post, when the new design language was mentioned earlier :D Only professional phone owners get black bezels!

No they don't. We have dozens upon dozens of rumors, leaks, reports, and more regarding the new MBP's that date back a year, and a flurry in the last few weeks/months...just like what happens when they release new products.

There have been zero indications of a new iMac coming any time soon. In Bloomberg's huge rumor dump a few weeks ago, it had all of 1 line about the future larger iMac, and that was to say, "they stopped working on it". Maybe they've started again, but they are no where near to releasing it.
You get one tidbit that sounds legit and that in turn is the basis for several rumors. But zero indications, actually if you look at availability of Apple's Mac product line shows some issues. Take for example the 2020 27" iMacs, any customization you got 26 - 33 days estimate. Yes they got the three configurations in stores, but a lot don't want to go with those. Now look at how bad the M1 24" store availability is, all models "Currently unavailable", Order today get Jul 9 - Jul 16 for $8. What the hell has happened to Apple having enough stock around to sell 24" or build 27" custom iMacs? Also noticed the 16" MBP the stock lately has not been present at every store. Today is a better day both standard configurations is available at most stores, way better then iMacs. So what is this telling you, that Apple must be interrupting productions to produce other models, or they got one heck of a problem meeting demand. I don't think everyone is racing to get the Aug 2020 27" iMacs IMHO. :D

Sure, if you don’t mind a 125w TDP CPU burning a hole on your lap and only lasting about 2 hours on battery, versus the same horsepower in a slim chassis dissipating 65w or less and giving you 14-16 hours of battery life, but sure, you do you. 😂

So the device that Apple will continue to offer for at least another 11 months and sells in large quantities is in stock while stuff that is (was) destined for replacement seems to be really B(uild)T(o)O(rder).

Gee who did come up with that scheme.....

Hopefully we get something before October. After all, this is a 2-year transition, we're 1-year "in" and we have yet to see a "pro" machine.

July/August makes the most sense to me.

September is reserved for iPhone. October is usually for iPad. November would most likely be reserved for an update to the MacBook Air/M2 reveal considering it would be one year later.

Apple could announce in October along side the iPad, but that would be too close to November.

Why not? Seems even more unlikely that Apple would release Monterey while selling no 16-inch MBP that can fully run it, assuming the reports are true that Monterey needs Apple silicon to run all features.

That’s why I think it will be Mac centric event. New Macs and Monterey released together...

Burn in would be a real problem. These aren't phones that are on for short periods of times. They can be on for hours.
Well, there are quite a few windows devices with oled screens. How do they handle it, I wonder? I haven’t searched for it - yet, but there must be some angry voices online talking about their now-garbage screens.

Who would have thought that 1 year in that the only models would be nearly identical to the ipad processor in terms of capability? (For my purposes my m1 macbook air is great as a supplemental machine - but would love to have it do everything)

Apple was pretty clear that Mac supply would be constrained this quarter. It isn't mysterious.

Considering the largest laptop battery only provides 100WHr of battery, there is no way your 125W is accurate. Heck, my 2020 8 core iMac uses a 125W CPU.

I was more excited about this until I saw the 24" iMac.

I don't want a desktop computer that is port constrained simply because Apple insists on making it as thin as an iPhone
(for no actually beneficial reason)
how dare you not appreciate how thin the computer is. who needs ports to do work? just spend all your time APPRECIATING HOW THIN IT IS

With all the rumours of shortages etc…

I expect:

October

Announcement of M1X, MBP’s, Mac Mini and iMac Pro, shipping November

March

Announcement of M2, Redesigned MacBook Air, possible just called MacBook, potentially refreshed entry level MBP, shipping April.

WWDC 2022

Announcement of M2X and new Mac Pro shipping late 2022.

M1 blows away any Intel MacBook Pro with an exception of probably the most high-end 16” ones, which cost 3 times as much.
In some areas, yes. In others, no. Also, cost isn’t relevant when there literally isn’t a faster pricier ARM Mac to buy.

I don’t see it. Tiger Lake-H45 draws a lot more power than M1, is still slower at single-threaded, and isn’t that much faster at multi-threaded, despite having eight full-performance cores.

It’ll be interesting to see how Alder Lake does, but I don’t see that shipping before M2 or M1X, either of which will probably handily beat it.
