When is your MP shipping?

I went through this same pain when I ordered my Nehalem MacBook Pro a few months ago. I paid for expedited shipping and ordered it first thing in the morning they were announced. I had a co-worker order the same thing but with a matte screen and an i5 instead of i7 processor later in the day.

His shipped a day before mine and arrived 2 days ahead of mine, and he didn't bother to pay for expedited shipping.

If it's the same situation, these systems are probably being assembled in China and shipped here.

Just an FYI: when Apple ships your order direct from China and you paid for expedited shipping if you call them up they will refund your shipping since (obviously) there is no ground service from China.

Discovered this a few years ago when I paid to have the "next gen" iPod shipped express only to discover that even the "free shipping" orders were going out express. I called up Apple and they refunded the shipping fee. I learned my lesson and don't pay for shipping anymore. In my experience it's either coming from China or the regional warehouse in PA which is next day ground service.
 
I ordered my Mac Pro today and the confirmation stated that the shipping date will be August 27th with a delivery date of September 1st. I called up Apple to add a few things on and the rep told me he would guess they would start shipping as soon as August 18th and no later than the 20th.

That would be nice.

If I had to guess I'd say that's for base models. I hope it's for 6-core upgrades but won't hold my breath. Heck, the 23rd (for shipping) is now only ten days away. After waiting this long that's nothing :rolleyes:
 
Request: when posting shipping dates it would be helpful to post the config you bought. It might give us a better idea which options are ready to go and which may delay shipping. Thanks.

After reading this I called to ask someone else the situation with shipping. I mentioned what you said to the girl and she said she couldn't downgrade my shipping, but she refunded my shipping charge.

6-Core and the HD 5870 were the only upgrades I did. Of course the rep sounded about 18 so he can't have too much knowledge of the shipping dates.

Ordered: Aug 12th
Ships: Aug 26
Delivers: Aug 31
 
Quad core, ordered the 9th, estimated shipping date is 25th and estimated delivery date is September the 3th. :mad::mad:

Why does it have to take so long? The only thing I changed in the standard config is the keyboard. I want a US keyboard, in stead of a NL keyboard.

I live in the Netherlands, but why would that matter?

It's an estimated date really - everyone gets the same delivery period... there's a chance you'll get yours early... unless they're out of US keyboards :p

Well, I certainly hope so. All this waiting has taken a couple years off my life ;)
 
I've dropped to the bottom of the pile. I had a 12 core ordered in the first hour, but I have cancelled the order and reordered today. I wanted to make the most of a interest deal on a new credit card. Also adjusted my RAM to 8Gb. My ship date is now 30th August. Delivery by 8th September! I am gutted it will extend the wait a week or so.

Good news for you guys though. One less MP in the queue ahead of you!:D

thats normal for EU customers. i ordered a hexcore with GPU upgrade... same dates. i'm from austria^^
 
Ordered my Mac Pro Aug 13, estimated ship date is Aug 23, estimated delivery is Sep 3 (I live in northern BC, I think that explains the long shipping time!)

Ordered the stock base quad - that's all I could convince my wife to go for right now, will have to update items as I can sneak them in the coming years ;)

Yes, I noticed this, too. I bought the 6-core and I have already received my free iPod touch via the education discount. What is up with that?

I wonder if maybe they screwed up the hold amount. I saw unnecessary, additional holds of $210 (x2) in addition to the cost of the Mac Pro and even considered calling Apple about it. I decided to wait until the actually overcharged me for anything before I called. I wonder if maybe they had a hold on the wrong amount and are now correcting it.

So you're saying that the hold has been lifted, and Apple has now taken the money from your account?

If so, that means your mac pro should be shipping on Monday. I hope the same thing happens to my account.
