When is your MP shipping?

I had to call Apple as they had a problem with my billing. I split the payment between to different sources, and they tried the full amount on one card and it was declined. Took 60 minutes on the phone with a supervisor to get it straightened out! But, I asked them if this was an authorization or a charge on my card . . . they said just an authorization. So, don't know when I'll actually get charged, but hopefully we'll all be surprised when they start shipping next week 🙂

Ya if you read my earlier post, I have a similar story- my bank said the money was gone, but mac pro didn't ship. I would imagine we'll see "preparing to be shipped" on order status before any other indicator.
Today I opened Mail and saw a message from Apple with the subject "shipment notification". I nearly had a heart attack.
But it was only my free iPhone case. (I got the Incase snap case, which seems to be shipping later than some others)
I also checked my bank account, the charge for the MP hasn't even hit the "available balance" yet. Order status remains "not yet shipped, delivered by 8/26" *sigh*

Haha just reading that first sentence got me all excited!
How long after "Prepared for shipment" will it take for it to actually ship?

Nice, actual withdrawn funds is good news 🙂 My bet is by Tuesday (if not tomorrow), we'll see our statuses change.
Keep in mind it's still the weekend. Not sure what banks you guys are using and if they differ in weekend operations, but for me, I use Bank of America, and they do NOT update over the weekend. If any pending charges clear, it's on a business day, so I'm anxiously waiting for tomorrow.
I'm definitely hoping for tomorrow. Classes start thursday for me and if it ships tomorrow, there will be a chance of me getting it before classes. Cause if I get it after classes start, I definitely won't wana be doing any studying 🙂

Haha, yes, Mac Pros are the most unproductive Mac computers ever 😉
My class actually starts tomorrow, but it would be nice to receive them by this week.

3rd party stuff? I've had my Creative X-Fi Titanium PCIe card ordered and sitting in my studio for a couple of months now. This will be my sound card for Windows when gaming. Also, just received my 640MB WD caviar black from Amazon last week. I HAD ordered the Intel x25m 80GB SSD, as I mentioned in another thread but canceled it and decided to just wait for G3, if promises of a Q4 release are true. I'm coming off a 5400RPM drive off my MBP so the 7200RPM should a sufficient temporary fix until I upgrade to SSD. Eventually, I plan to fill every drive bay with an SSD as prices fall and my funds replenish 🙂
As for RAM, I really want to wait for tests and confirmation from OWC or Anandtech to see if we can add 8GB DIMMs. It would be nice to have 24GB in there...
But from what I've been reading on this forum, and from what I recall Nanofrog mentioning, 8GB DIMM might not be possible. Just waiting to see.
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, what I meant to say was my money was taken out (or so it seems) on the tuesday after mac pro release, so I do not think that money being taken out is the best indication of when they will ship, therefore the earliest sign of the mac pros shipping in my opinion would be a change in order status that says "preparing to ship" since for the iPod touch I received that notification before the cooresponding funds were withdrawn.

I ordere 16GB (4X4GB) from OWC and that should get here on Tuesday. I also ordered 2 Caviar Blacks and 2 Caviar Greens, Blacks for holding stuff and Greens for backup. My boot drive is gonna be an OWC SSD which will be in the optical bay. All of my drive have gotten here, just need the Mac Pro!
Pretty much what Im doing except, I used trainsintl ram and OCZ vertex 2 for boot.
I cant wait to get it already, this 2 weeks wait is agonizing 🙂

Well it's one week since ordering and nothing has changed as far as the August 23rd ship date for me. It will be interesting if some others start shipping early, maybe by the middle or end of this week. My Mac Pro is custom with the 6-core so I think it won't ship any earlier than next Monday.

I assume the standard configuration Mac Pro's are all being sent out to people as they are also sent out to Apple Stores or something.

Here's a comparison of 2Tb drives. It's in French but the graphs speak for themselves. An English translation should be available shortly.
Essentially, the black is faster, but is more expensive, uses more electricity, is noisier, runs hotter, and is apparently more failure-prone than the slower green model.
