Isn't Yosemite DP released at the same time as iOS betas, in that case it should come today, i'm DL Yosemite DP 6 right now...

Agreed.

I'm currently struggling with 3 things with my app :

1. Custom swipe screen segue animations - For some screens it works, for some it doesn't. I haven't changed the code a bit, but I have changed the connections this week-end, and it's been broken since then.

2. Screen Width and Screen Height has been reversed in landscape mode only in iOS 8 and has been a real PITA to debug. It's been reported to Apple by me, but since it hasn't been fixed in Beta 5 already, I expect it's a new behavior.

3. viewDidAppear gets called multiple times (if I remember by heart).

Points 2 and 3 has been broken since day 1 in the iOS betas, and I am clueless as how to support iOS 8 right now. A lot of APIs are broken, and my debug code tells me it should work fine...

I've renewed my Dev account today, and I am hoping for a new release within the next hour or two.
It is a beta, they are usually glitchy. You have to wait for GM if you want to test your apps in a stable environment. Unless you meant Xcode.

Clearly Apple are holding back on a few added features that will only be available in the GM, which will also include all the iPhone 6 features.

Release docs to XCode pretty much confirm no Beta 6:

"In OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 6 and iOS 8.0 beta 5, the NSURLSessionTask class provides a new priority property. Complete usage details are available in the NSURLSession.h header file, provided by the Foundation framework."

No chance - they couldn't release a new version of XCode with Beta 5 SDK's for only a few days!

That's it now 'till the GM.

Anyone else find it a little aggravating that Apple released new betas for Yosemite and Xcode but not iOS?

iOS beta program usually ends about a month before the new iPhone release/GM release. With that being September 9th, no more betas are expected. Apple needs the time to add all of the new features to iOS 8 that will either be specific to the new devices, or available to all that they wanted to hold off on before announcing.

OS X Yosemite, however, won't be released until at least October, meaning the Developer Preview program goes on a bit longer than the iOS beta program. This is normal.

Wrong. Even though I have it installed on my iPhone, I am not testing iOS 8 per se, I'd rather say I'm testing my app on it.

When iOS 8 reaches the GM, my app should already be 100% iOS8-compatible and I'd have to call my app a GM too, so that it can be released on the App Store the day iOS8 releases.

Otherwise, people will install iOS 8 before my iOS8-compatible app goes live and then fire it up and add a bad review on the app store because it's pretty damn broken under iOS8.

Does Xcode contain an iOS-8 Beta 6 simulator ? If they don't release iOS8-B6 today on my iPhone, I can definitely wait if I have a more accurate simulator in my dev tools.

But iOS 8 isn't stable, so your app may not work properly. There is nothing that can be done about this until they make an update.

This is annoying as iOS 8 is eating up my free space and allocating it to other far quicker than any other version of iOS. I think I'll roll back to 7 on my iPad at least given that there's no release today.

Go for it. No one here will lose any sleep over it.

the nature & number of the bugs in beta 5 will need to be fixed with beta 6 then tested before GM is released

Not necessarily. There’s only 3 weeks left before the rumored iPhone event. Even if there was another beta, it could come next week, followed by the GM release on 9/09 and GA release on 9/11.

However, IMO, it looks like we’ve got the last beta for iOS 8.

It will probably be released to public on September 17th.

Same. Makes me wanna install iOS 7 again and jailbreak just so I can install iCleaner and never run into this problem again.
