I just checked amazon here in the US and they have every model in stock

James

Well from what I've seen they are in stock because the same iMacs have been available for weeks without selling anything. Last time I checked they had 3 left of the 27 inch i5... I assume it's still the same today. Which at least means they are selling really slow currently and apple need to release something new... There's no more suckers left to buy the last 3 models they have :D no wonder desktops are the lowest selling devices apple has, they are both ancient now. Both the iMac and the mp came out even long time before lion... The pro I guess before SL - silly

ApplesiMac 27 inch All-In-One Desktop PC (Intel Core i5 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor, 2X2GB RAM, 1TB HDD, AMD Radeon HD 6970M with 1GB graphics) (Launched May 2011)

Now Out of Stock at Amazon.co.uk

These are never out of stock normally so I guess deliveries have ceased.

They have gone out of stock before, just when hopes were being raised for a possible May refresh, for instance. But then they have been selling this model with a mighty £200 discount for the past month, it has been tempting

I have given up hope, it will happen when it happens and I will be pleasantly surprised when it does - though with this lack of any information whatsoever I expect to making a decision on an iPhone 5 before I see a new iMac.

Is a possible reason due to the supply of new Intel CPUs? I mean, i'm sure they're shipping out to all PC vendors and then Apple which seemed to direct the supply to the Macbook lineup since it's their higher revenue lineup compared to its desktop cousins.

So where, for ******* s*** are iMacs?! I lost my faith that they will appear today/tomorrow... :(:(

I'm still hopeful. But today's report is pretty damning. Basically they were planned for earlier, but there's been a manufacturing problem with the new screen.

Which I'm almost happy about, because that means there's a new screen and the anti-glare rumors are true. Waiting until late Sept is gonna suck though.

Yep, and we almost have the worst scenario: It will be March. No! May. Mmm...WWDC...ooo! wait for ML release! Em...late September, it's not even two full months! Hoooraay! We have 30 December 2012!!! Premiere! As Tim Cook said we don't have to wait 2013 to see iMac update!

**** it. I gave up waiting on the iMac.

Ordered a brand new rMBP on eBay for $2,110 last night.

sad thing is by than the new hardware will already be aging..

I decided to buy a 2011 iMac, use it until the 2012 model comes out and then sell it on eBay. It made sense really. I can use the student discount now as I've just graduated, so I'm saving £250 roughly, but when it comes to selling it on eBay then I'd expect to get about 15% off the RRP, not the student price, so I'd end up not losing that much.

In theory anyway. Maybe I'll cry instead

This may be a trash talking and profane thread. But I got the point and I agree.

Macbook Pro/Air become the only Macintosh gains all momentum today, along with iOS devices. And I never like Macbook that much, well at least not as my main computer. Not even with retina display.
Still I own an MBA, but it's far away from being used as primary machine.

Desktop still should be around for some time. Yes, iMac still use mobility GPU up to now, but it's still a better GPU compare to what you could ever find on MBP/MBA.

Until something can really compete with desktop, Macbook will always be my secondary computer.

So I despise people saying iMac is just a giant Macbook.

  • Do you get 4 RAM slots on Macbook? Yes MBP can get 16GB of RAM today, big deal! iMac can do up to 32GB then (and self-upgradeable too). What's the point?
  • Do you get 6770M GPU on entry level $1000 MB Pro or even Air?
  • Do you get desktop chip with your iMac? Yeah Geekbench may show mobile CPU gets similar result as desktop one, but does it has stamina? Doing job in the long run without being overheated?
  • Do you get cheap 1TB 7200rpm HDD on Macbook?
  • Okay .. people saying HDD is so 2008, well iMac can have BOTH HDD and SSD at the same time. Can Macbook do that?

Let alone MacPro, Macbook is still far away to compete with iMac. Size does matter and being bigger always means something. Maybe in 2 3 years Macbook will perform equally as desktop today. But by then desktop will have something else. It's always a chasing game and notebook always one or two steps behind.

I agree with everything you wrote. This place shuold be called iOS Rumors instead of Mac Rumors.

Hi 42j, What report? I have missed something- could you point me at it?

Apple is killing me. The report sure seems to point to some redesign of iMac. Wish they had bumped specs earlier in year if Sept. or later was date. Maybe they had hoped for sooner, who knows. I'm just disappointed as h***, as my 2007 is not quite what she once was.....not sure I can make it until Sept., and thus left with dilemma of overpriced (spec-wise) iMac or something else....:(

At least in Europe this wouldn't work out that well, because you may only use the student discount once a year for iMacs. But I have no idea the same goes for the States.

Think he's European too considering he used a £ sign

I'm European, but I have just graduated so I won't be able to use it after this anyway.

ok im so sick and tired of these new MPR news, like "omfg i can connect 3 displays", omfg the display is so awesome, omfg its fast, omfg this, that, this that" **** already ok we get it its an awesome machine get over yourselves, where are the imacs news, NO ONE is talking about them... they way over due and none of the rumors sites say anything about them because they are too busy jerking off to the new macbook pro.. am i right?? Seriously.. what do you guys think... so so pissed about it..

Yes, I'm not amused.
Well, W8 with pretty nice All in one Pc is coming closer. For office use fine.

Would have thought might have had ML stories by this time today too - so maybe not going to be?

The lack of MR stories today means little. But this analyst report is basically telling us not to be surprised. I made the mistake of dismissing him as a quack when he put out his pre-WWDC report, and he was spot on at least in terms of what was released at WWDC.

I have to ask now?

I am getting pretty tired of the piece by piece examination of iPhone bits being smuggled out of factories... and just not a peep on anything Mac related.

Largerly because I am in a hole.
My need for a new machine is pressing, but I am not caving and going for a new one.
So Refurb? - The prices on the Apple UK refurb store are frankly insulting, (but then too so is the asking price of the machine now...) save a whole £200. It is simply not enough off to make it worth it as an option.

So ride it out with a Second hand slightly older machine? However the result of this lack of refresh the prices are just not tapering off - Some current models are now pushing on towards a year and half old and is still currently available - so sellers are just taking the p(ss with 'latest model' and being out of warranty... this for me is the worst thing about an extended refresh that the knock on into the market is bad for buyers, good for sellers.

Add a display to my MBP?
it can't handle a Thunderbolt and the LED is the same price ? and no chance of getting one of them secondhand for decent money as they are all that can be used on most of the lineup until recently - then it'll be immediately redundant when I get a new iMac as the MBP will be going just as soon as possible?
Anyone who says it can all be done working on the 15" screen, obviously hasn't had to. It is making all kinds of things hellish and devastating productivity.

For me this is just a terrible time to be needing a new machine - of course Apple decided just at that moment that I have a need - they didn't need to update it and then say F all about it.

So the only 'good' news is my Applesphere is my iPhone contract is up so at least if a new ones does come along I'll be able to get one!
I joked before about getting a new iPhone before my iMac, its is seemingly and horribly true. And now with nothing on Mac developments I am not even feeling that we are going to see one in September and I have to ask WTF are the iMacs?

I can't see why everyone needs the 2012 iMac... buy what you need now, when you need it. Since whatever you buy there's always something around the corner anyway.
