Why did you return it? Did it not function properly? Was it DOA? Dead pixel? OS failure?
I returned it because I didn't want the Samsung chip. The genius said that he did the same thing with his personal phone. He said he would give me two chances but the first one was the good chip:) no idea what he put in the system for the reason. I got rid of the crappy Samsung chip.

I think if you return the phone within the 14 day return policy for a different chip, that's totally fine. It's a no-questions-asked policy.

Who is anyone to tell anyone else that they can't return their device because they aren't happy with it (yes, including whether or not it has a TSMC chip; that's none of your business if they aren't happy with it. I'm looking at you, Qbnkelt.)

There is no crappy Samsung chip. I had both and the chips in day to day use are totally equal! My screen-on time was identical.

Yeah i don't know that resell value will matter TSMC v. Samsung

the vast majority of people, including Craigslisters, don't know about this "debacle."

I see almost an extra hour usage since I dumped my Samsung chip. You are believing what they want you to believe if you don't think that the Samsung chip is subpar.

The point is that frivolous returns like these mentioned here can result in repercussions for those of us who don't play the system or a use a company's policy. You can quibble all you want in respect to warranty or return policy but the fact remains that returning perfectly functioning phones over a chip that is not failing to perform per the company's specs is abuse of the return policy. Make all. The excuses and rationalisations you want. It is frivolous. And I hope Apple does something to stop them in the future. These people should get hit with at the very least a 50 quid restocking fee.

Blah blah you want someone to be penalized for something that in no way affects you because you opinions don't align.

You even go as far as wanting restocking fees, again for something that doesn't affect you.

Clearly we have two different mindsets, let's just ignore each other's post.:D

Nothing wrong with being thrilled about anything. Its wrong to abuse a return policy looking for a thrill.

G .

Thrill isn't my word, it's Apples...

if you cant be bothered to just plug your phone in to recharge it up and you worry about 1 hour of extra battery life you're a knob. You aint hiking up a mountain and your life depends on that extra 60 mins of battery to get you home.

That's not the issue. It's the fact that some phones are superior to others, which is not right when everyone is paying the same amount of money. There's really no argument to be made. If you're happy with your chip/phone, kindly exit this thread.

Don't compare your dull life to everyone else's life. Sounds like you have pretty much hung life up. Not sure what a knob is but I bet it pretty much describes you to a tee.

hahah, if your life revolves around a phones battery lasting an extra 60 mins i would be questioning my own dull life.

You do know that no two iPhones are equal, regardless of the manufacturer of each of its electronic components. And there are reports saying the Samsung is faster. How do you rest at night knowing that millions of people have "superior" iPhones to yours? I don't know how you can stand it. It's not right since you all paid the same amount. Did you know the same situation exists with everything you own that's electronic!!! What about your car? Someone has the exact same car as you and it gets better gas mileage.

As for me, I'm happy with my iPhone... I did buy an iPhone, not a chip. And I think I'll not exit this thread just yet.

Well if the genius said it then it must be true... After all he is a genius! Three tries... I'm sure that policy came straight from Cupertino. I will give Apple one thing, they do go the extra mile to have a satisfied customer. It's awesome you are so thrilled with your chip.

Everyone wants more battery life. To happily write off an hour is madness. Last night my girlfriend missed her train. She was sat at the station @3am with a dead phone battery. I was worried sick, and she was crying because she couldn't call me.

Pay phone?

Good luck finding one of those on this side of the river. His girl would have better luck using smoke signals.

Area I'm from has 0, closest major city (Baltimore) has 5. I think there are less then 100 throughout DC. I've seen some in New York, they usually have a homeless gentleman guarding it by sleeping underneath.

Even if you did find one, and by some miracle had the strange round metal currency it takes to operate one would she know his number without the aid of her phones contact list?

I can't imagine someone saying a pay phone is a valid alternative to a smartphone with longer battery life.

I know this may upset a few people but I totally agree with people sending the phone back if you are not happy. If you don't want a Samsung chip then that is the buyer's choice. At the end of the day you are buying the phone, it's not given or gifted to you.

I am going to buy a 128gb 6s+ tomorrow. Hopefully I will get the tsmc chip. You may wonder why- it's simple, why not? The tsmc has better battery life which is high on my list of priorities.

Pay phone?

You would swap extra battery life for a payphone? Besides, there are precious few in the UK now, everyone has a mobile phone. I don't know about you but I don't know anyone's phone number. They're typed into my phone and that's that. Aside from my own mobile number and the landline of my parents' house, I couldn't ring anyone if my battery died and I didn't have access to my phonebook.
