I haven't heard of anyone, anywhere, ever whose phone hasn't run out of juice at a critical time. This reminds me of the '1GB of RAM is perfectly fine' posts. Are people seriously not bothered about battery life anymore!? I thought it was right up there in terms of important features. I'd love an extra four or five hours please.
Very true, thing is for me that extra five hours wouldn't help as I would be f'ed because I would be in situation where I needed 6 extra hours. Until they run off of body heat, it's never going to be enough.

Possibly true, but whom among us can say they they have never found themselves in a situation they had not prepared for. Well except for Jtludwig.
And that situation would not be remedied by the magical TSMC... And the phone in question wasn't even an iPhone.

I have a samsung chipped 6s plus and never bothered me but today i was watching MKBHD milestone stream on periscope and after 5 minuted the phones was so hot that i couldn't hold it in my hands. I have never had anything like it with my 6 plus and i watched tons of periscope on that phone.

That's why I always carry a small supplemental battery pack.

Why people care about this so much? I don't even know which chip I have and I couldn't care less. My 6+ is working really well and just as advertised. Why would I want to change it to another one that most likely performs pretty much identically?

Because they have to have drama. If there hadn't been an original article about the different chips these crybabies would have found something else to wah wah wah over.

I REALLY wish Apple would have a 50 quid restocking fee. Would end all these frivolous returns.

This may or may not have anything to do with the processor, it could be software related. Try doing a reset, home button + lock button until you see the Apple logo.

Periscope is a massive battery hog. Although it's never gotten my 6S or 5S to hot to handle, however I have the TSMC model so I can't test it for you.

I watched the same MKBHD stream over Periscope yesterday for about 5 mins, have a Samsung chipped 6S Plus and had no such problems.

Playing devil's advocate, but what if these returns are preventative? No one's really sure of the long term effects of an iPhone performing worse under stress. If i was planning to keep my phone for longer than a year, I'd want to make sure it's something that will last.

I say all this with a Samsung chip, but I really don't care that much. By the time the 7 comes around, it's going to my dad, who'll care even less.

If companies would accept returns on the basis of what ifs then no product would ever be deemed acceptable.

Imagine. I'd return my SUV on the assumption that my timing belt might fail. I'd return my fridge on the assumption it would stop freezing. I'd return a watch on the assumption the battery might go out. I'd return a wool sweater on the assumption that someday it might shrink.

the ones crying about the phone chips being different will be buying the next iphone anyway, which is in what? 300 odd days? ride it out LOL

I'm surprised Apple let you return that many, unless they all had some type of defect.

This kind of thing has to be Apple's worst nightmare. I'm surprised they don't do something, whether that's putting a cap on returns or telling Samsung to take a hike until they make the chip as good or better than the other option.

Did not even think or tried to search for the CPU, and don't give a *&%&*# which one I have. That behavior is left to fanatics, and youngsters.

Understood. But when you're traveling on a train in France with no outlet in sight, you have 2 hours left in the trip, and your iPhone 6S is on empty and you know that with the non-Samsung model you would still be humming, then it's an issue.

Or better yet, I heard that Amazon bans your account permanently if you have so return so many items. Even if you were to create a new account, they find out it's the same person and will ban that too. For how long I don't know but I would say Apple should follow this route. I know Best Buy does this too but they only can ban you for certain amount of time (90 days) and after that you are off the list due to the statute of limitation policy.

I'm on trains all the time and airports and Metros. I always carry a charger. Before I get my on a train I charge up.

If your margin of error is the difference between the two chips, then you're taking a high risk. One late train or flight can take away that margin. So that reasoning is flawed.

In fifteen years of using smartphones I have not run out of battery once.

Those that do should prepare for that trip, and not use the phone that much, unless they are the ones that are addicted to using a phone, and not engaging conversations with other travelers. ;) Just saying. As mentioned, use a charger....Simple

Might as well be peeing into the wind on this one. Nobody wants to hear about personal responsibility in this matter - it's Apple's fault that they can't manage their power usage.

And as I previously stated, I have a portable battery charger in my work bag, and my wife has one in her purse. All. The. Time. No matter what chipset is in my phone, if I run out of power anytime, anywhere, it's MY fault. I own it, so I make sure that I deal with it.
