Well she should of done a better job of planning ahead.
I haven't heard of anyone, anywhere, ever whose phone hasn't run out of juice at a critical time. This reminds me of the '1GB of RAM is perfectly fine' posts. Are people seriously not bothered about battery life anymore!? I thought it was right up there in terms of important features. I'd love an extra four or five hours please.

Agree with that. She was probably tweeting and posting right up til she realized her phone was dead. No matter how big your battery is, it's possible to run it dead.

Full day at work, then a meal out with friends, then drinks that went on for longer than planned, then she missed her train by a matter of seconds. It was pulling away as she reached the platform. Sure we could all rip her planning to shreds but if her phone battery had lasted even one hour longer then all would have been well. It wasn't an iPhone by the way, but the example still stands.

I'm honestly not that worried about battery life anymore... For the first time ever ... Because the 6s Plus has amazing battery life. All of them, unless they are defective. And yet if I want to be an idiot, I'm sure I could cause myself to be someplace dangerous with a dead battery. And it has nothing to do with which company made my processor.

Everyone wants more battery life. To happily write off an hour is madness. Last night my girlfriend missed her train. She was sat at the station @3am with a dead phone battery. I was worried sick, and she was crying because she couldn't call me.

Dude, you can't leave us hanging. How did the story end?

Girlfriend crying at 3am stuck at a train station with a flat phone, boyfriend at home awake in bed stressing out......

She caught the later train and then a taxi from the station. Nothing happened and it wasn't a life and death situation, it just would have been nice for both of us to be aware of the situation.

Well personally I try not to run my battery down to nothing, and any iPhone 6s Plus has amazing battery life and plenty of ways to stretch it out if you find yourself in a tight spot. The fact is she didn't use her head, and her example has nothing to do with this fake chip battle. If it was to apply then she would have to have been putting it through some crazy stress test while waiting for the train.

Takes the worry out of the situation... for as little as $10 (2 cups of that overpriced coffee). I have one in my work bag, and my wife has one in her purse. Rarely used, but there if we ever need it.

I can hear the argument - "why should I have to pay for...". Save it. How many $10 have you wasted in your lifetime? Just be prepared and then just get busy living or get busy dying.

I ran my 6+ down to 1% almost every day, and I run my Samsung 6S+ down to 1% almost every day. For heavy users they still don't last long enough, but they're probably the best for battery life on the market at the moment so one can't have any complaints. However, if they lasted an hour or two longer per charge cycle then that would be top drawer. I don't like having to limit my use and shut down features towards the end of the evening just to make my phone last long enough.

I returned it because I didn't want the Samsung chip. The genius said that he did the same thing with his personal phone. He said he would give me two chances but the first one was the good chip:) no idea what he put in the system for the reason. I got rid of the crappy Samsung chip.

This "crappy" Samsung chip on my iPhone lasts me well over 24 hours and is faster than your much sought after TSMC chip. And I didn't abuse a policy.

So you abused Apple's customer service and traded a perfectly working phone. If this idiocy hadn't gotten airplay you wouldn't have known anything about the chip and you wouldn't have known any different.

Congrats.

Blah blah you want someone to be penalized for something that in no way affects you because you opinions don't align.

You even go as far as wanting restocking fees, again for something that doesn't affect you.

Clearly we have two different mindsets, let's just ignore each other's post.:D

Blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda....

Yes I want people who abuse a company's policy penalised and charged a restocking fee because eventually if you've got enough crybabies wah wah wahing their way through six or seven devices we all could ultimately pay through higher Apple Care rates. So if you think this infantile behaviour of exchanging a perfectly working device because of a chip doesn't have repercussions then you're deluding yourself.

I suppose the one good thing out of all thia would be that the number of perfectly working devices available for people who may have genuine issues is dramatically increased over the immaturity of a select few.

If you could read you would understand that apple took it back. The people that work at the Apple Store actually represent apple. Do you understand that? The guys wearing the blue shirts selling iPhones represent Apple. Those same people are exchanging their samsung chips for the good ones....... Hows that?

And if YOU could read and YOU could comprehend what you read, YOU would understand that that's my whole point. That their policy is much too generous and these frivolous exchanges would end if there were a restocking fee. Which could very well happen now that a bunch of babies had a mass conniption over a chip that wasn't in any way damaging their device.
As far as the people in the store saying they did the same .....who cares. I expect their managers will have a discussion with them. If that ever happened at all.
So congrats. We may all pay for your selfishness. Be proud.

Ah, member for a month. I didn't see that at first. One more for the old ignore list.

To be fair lots of people have reported the same.
And of course we know it's the SoC chip, because no other components could possibly vary between phones except the SoC chip, right. Battery, screen, radio chips, antennas, never vary between phones.

Most you can say is user is happier with current phone than the last. Period, but that's enough. Might solely be the chip, then again not. Only the great ju-ju-be up the mountain knows for sure.

That's not the issue. It's the fact that some phones are superior to others, which is not right when everyone is paying the same amount of money. There's really no argument to be made. If you're happy with your chip/phone, kindly exit this thread.
Yeah, what's wrong with you. This thread is only for unhappy complaining people. If you like your phone, get out. You here. GET OUT NOW!

You would swap extra battery life for a payphone? Besides, there are precious few in the UK now, everyone has a mobile phone. I don't know about you but I don't know anyone's phone number. They're typed into my phone and that's that. Aside from my own mobile number and the landline of my parents' house, I couldn't ring anyone if my battery died and I didn't have access to my phonebook.
On that side note, I reflect how amazing it is that a smart device, actually has the effect of making us dumber. I realize I'm same, only know a couple numbers now. Even under NSA/CIA water boarding, I could not reveal my brother's home or cell numbers.
