Verizon Store. Why? It's simple: I want to keep my unlimited data and to do that I have to pay full price for the phone, which you cannot do at the Apple Store (for Verizon anyways).
I'll probably head down my local Apple Store and get one unlocked a couple of weeks after launch. I hate having to wait for deliveries, I'm far too impatient for that![]()
I want to buy it at the Apple store unlocked. Does Apple keep separate stock locked to each provider and separate unlocked iPhones or are all phones unlocked originally and then locked to a provider if you buy it subsidized
How does this work if i order thru apple , they have my at&t info?
Whatever people do, they need to remeber just ONE important detail.
NEVER EVER PREORDER FROM AT&T. EVER.
See last years AT&T Pre Order fiasco thread and my experience in particular here:

i'm gonna go stand in line outside my local cvs pharmacy for the new iphone. hope i get an early spot, because i'm planning on getting a 16gig black model, and those usually sell out quickly.
Virgin is cdma. While the unlocked phone has all the radios, you can only use it on gsm only since cdma carriers won't add it to their database. You have to get a virgin phone to use their service. CDMA sucks.I'm thinking this time around to get an unlocked iPhone 5 and go with a Virgin Mobile plan a subsidized the cost through their inexpensive plans.
You probably won't be able to pick it up. It's either online or buy in the store.I read through all of the posts and my question is this. If I order from Apple and have it delivered or pick it up in the store do I then have to go to AT&T to activate and keep my unlimited plan?

You should be able to keep unlimited, unless at&t releases policy that says otherwise. The only issue is if you have a fan discount; you might have to limit yourself to the fan web site
